We suggest that HSV Color Space may be used to detect a vehicle detecting system at nighttime. It is essential that a licence plate should be extracted when a vehicle is under surveillance. To do so, a licence plate may be enlarged to certain size after the aimed vehicle is taken picture from a distance by using Pan-Tilt-Zoom Camera. Either Mean-Shift or Optical Flow Algorithm is generally used for the purpose of a vehicle detection and trace, even though those algorithms have tendency to have difficulty in detection and trace a vehicle at night. By utilizing the fact that a headlight or taillight of a vehicle stands out when an input image is converted in to HSV Color Space, we are able to achieve improvement on those algorithms for the vehicle detection and trace. In this paper, we have shown that at night, the suggested method is efficient enough to detect a vehicle 93.9% from the front and 97.7% from the back.
In this paper, we suggest a system of detecting a vehicle with lane violation, which can detect the vehicle with lane violation, by using the feature point tracking. The whole algorism in the suggested system of detecting a vehicle with lane violation is composed of three stages such as feature extraction, register and tracking in feature for the tracking-targeted vehicle, and detecting a vehicle with lane violation. The feature is extracted from the morphological gradient image, which results in constructing robust detection system against shadows, weather conditions, head lights and illumination conditions without distinction day and night. The system shows excellent performance for the data captured at day time, night time, and rainy night time as much as 99.49% for positive recognition ratio and 0.51% for error ratio. Also the system is so fast as much as 91.34 frames per second in average that it may be possible for real-time processing.
The novel vision-based scheme for real-time extracting traffic parameters is proposed in this paper. Detecting and tracking of vehicle is processed at local region installed by operator. Local region is divided to segmented regions by edge and frame difference, and the segmented regions are classified into vehicle, road, shadow and headlight by statistical and geometrical features. Vehicle is detected by the result of the classification. Traffic parameters such as velocity, length, occupancy and distance are estimated by tracking using template matching at local region. Because background image are not used, it is possible to utilize under various conditions such as weather, time slots and locations. It is performed well with 90.16% detection rate in various databases. If direction, angle and iris are fitted to operating conditions, we are looking forward to using as the core of traffic monitoring systems.

Prohibition of lane changes in bridges and tunnels have been many problems in throughputs of expressways caused by heavy vehicles and slow-moving traffics. Nevertheless, those are constructed actively by the general trends, which are preservation of environment and ecosystem are more important, because mountainous districts are about 70% across the whole extent of Korea. In this paper, the proper design standards for permission of lane changes in bridges and tunnels classified into structure, safe, and driver's conveniences are suggested as follows. 1. Right shoulder should have more than 2.5m in bridges and tunnels. 2. Sufficient equipments of guidance like as directional signs, fingerposts, variable message signs, and markings should be established to smooth and safe lane changes of drivers. 3. Snow melting systems should be established in bridges worried about freezing. 4. Tunnels must be not only satisfied standards for prevention of disasters (2004.11) and lighting rules (KSA 3703), but also established anti-freezing facilities in entrance and exit. 5. The drivers should have honed on their car lights.
In this paper, Glass Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic (GFRTP) for automotive headlight source module was fabricated by compounding and injection molding using PPS (Poly Phenylene Sulfide) resin with glass fiber which has three cross section (round type, cocoon type, flat type). Tensile, flexural, impact properties were investigated on effect of cross section, glass fiber contents. And it was observed flatness, dimensional stability, fluidity depending on glass fiber cross section. As a result, flat glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic's mechanical properties were most excellent. Also, dimensional stability and flatness showed better results when using flat glass fiber.

The blind spot is an area where drivers visibility does not reach. When drivers change a lane to adjacent lane, they need to give an attention because of the blind spot. If drivers try to change lane without notice of vehicle approaching in the blind spot, it causes a reason to have a car accident. This paper proposes a night-time blind spot vehicle detection using cameras. At nighttime, head-lights are used as characteristics to detect vehicles. Candidates of headlight are selected by high luminance feature and then shape filter and kalman filter are employed to remove other noisy blobs having similar luminance to head-lights. In addition, vehicle position is estimated from detected head-light, using virtual center line represented by approximated the first order linear equation. Experiments show that proposed method has relatively high detection porformance in clear weather independent to the road types, but has not sufficient performance in rainy weather because of various ground reflectors.

Extended light illumination by street lamp and automobile light has provoked problem in farmland. Night break was imposed by incandescent lamp (50∼60 lux) for 10 minutes every three hours during 12 hours dark period increased culm length compared to continuous dark of 12 hours, and decreased the number of grains per spike in rice. However, these characters were increased by 12 hours dark period with and without night break as compared to 9 hours continuous dark condition. Compared to 12 hours continuous dark condition, night break delayed heading by 9 and 26 days and 9 hours continuous dark condition delayed it by 47 and 41 days in Ilpumbyeo and Hwaseongbyeo, respectively. Night break increased stem length and node number, while decreased pods of soybean cultivar Hwanggeumkong. The stem length and node number were increased by 9 hours continuous dark condition compared to 12 hours dark condition with and without night break. Compared to 12 hours continuous dark rendition, night break delayed flowering by 4 days and to 9 hours continuous dark condition by 19 days.
As AI-technology develops, interest in the safety of autonomous driving is increasing. Recently, autonomous vehicles have been increasing, but efforts to solve side effects have been sluggish. In particular, night autonomous vehicles have more problems. This is because the probability of accidents is higher in the night driving environment than in the day environment. There are more factors to consider for self-driving at night. Among these factors, reflection of light or reflected light of lighting may be a fundamental cause of night accidents. Therefore, this study proposes method to reduce accidents and improve safety by reducing reflected light generated by the headlights of opposite vehicles or various surrounding light that appear as an important problem in night autonomous vehicles. Therefore, first, in an image obtained by a sensor of a night autonomous vehicle, illumination reflected light is extracted using reflected light characteristic information, and a color of each pixel using a reflection coefficient is found to reduce a special area generated by geometric characteristics. In addition, we find a new area using only the brightness component of the specular area, define it as Illuminated Reflection Light (IRL), and finally present a method to reduce it. Although the illumination reflection light could not be completely reduce, generally satisfactory results could be obtained. Therefore, it is believed that the proposed study can reduce casualties by solving the problems of night autonomous driving and improving safety.

Image processing technique in the outdoor environment is very sensitive, and it tends to lose a lot of accuracy when it rapidly changes by outdoor environment. Therefore, in order to calculate accurate traffic information using the traffic monitoring system, we must resolve removing shadow in transition time, Distortion by the vehicle headlights at night, noise of rain, snow, and fog, and occlusion. In the research, we developed a system to calibrate the amount of traffic, speed, and time occupancy by using image processing technique in a variety of outdoor environments change. This system were tested under outdoor environments at the Gonjiam test site, which is managed by Korea Institute of Construction Technology (www.kict.re.kr) for testing performance. We evaluated the performance of traffic information, volume counts, speed, and occupancy time, with 4 lanes (2 lanes are upstream and the rests are downstream) from the 16th to 18th December, 2008. The evaluation method performed as based on the standard data is a radar detection compared to calculated data using image processing technique. The System evaluation results showed that the amount of traffic, speed, and time occupancy in period (day, night, sunrise, sunset) are approximately 92-97% accuracy when these data compared to the standard data.
