Automatic Frequency Conversion Algorithm for Vehicle Radio (차량 라디오 주파수 자동변환 알고리즘)

  • Traffic accidents caused by the attention dispersion are increasing and the behavior of the attention dispersion affects the front-observing rate, road keeping ability, and reaction time for a dangerous situation. Many drivers listen to a radio broadcast and they have to change the frequency for continuously listening a radio broadcast of the specific broadcasting station in case of crossing a boundary of the particular area. In this situation, the possibility of a car accident increases, because the attention dispersion of a driver might be occurred. Especially, the risk of a car accident caused by changing the frequency of a radio is more serious in the highway, due to the high speed of a vehicle. In order to reduce the risk of a car accident caused by handling a radio during driving car, in this paper, we propose an automatic frequency conversion algorithm for vehicle radio, which saves normal system frequencies of primary broadcasting stations in a database and determines new frequency of the changed area using the location information obtained from a navigation system in a boundary of the specific area. After determining new frequency, the proposed algorithm selects a frequency with better receiving rate comparing signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) of two signals corresponding previous and new frequencies.

  • 본 논문에서는 최근 논의되고 있는 하이브리드 라디오 방송 기술을 자동차에서 상용화 하기 위해서 개발된 Xperi 사의 DTS Connected Radio 기술을 개략적으로 소개한다. DTS Connected Radio 는 방송망으로 수신된 아날로그 혹은 디지털 라디오와 IP 망을 이용하여 받은 방송 프로그램 정보 및 현재 방송되고 있는 음악에 대한 정보 등의 추가적인 정보를 차량에서 같이 제공하는 서비스를 말한다.

Channel assignment for 802.11p-based multi-radio multi-channel networks considering beacon message dissemination using Nash bargaining solution (802.11p 기반 다중 라디오 다중채널 네트워크 환경에서 안전 메시지 전송을 위한 내쉬 협상 해법을 이용한 채널할당)

  • For the safety messages in IEEE 802.11p vehicles network environment(WAVE), strict periodic beacon broadcasting requires status advertisement to assist the driver for safety. WAVE standards apply multiple radios and multiple channels to provide open public road safety services and improve the comfort and efficiency of driving. Although WAVE standards have been proposed multi-channel multi-radio, the standards neither consider the WAVE multi-radio environment nor its effect on the beacon broadcasting. Most of beacon broadcasting is designed to be delivered on only one physical device and one control channel by the WAVE standard. also conflict-free channel assignment of the fewest channels to a given set of radio nodes without causing collision is NP-hard, even with the knowledge of the network topology and all nodes have the same transmission radio. Based on the latest standard IEEE 802.11p and IEEE 1609.4, this paper proposes an interference aware-based channel assignment algorithm with Nash bargaining solution that minimizes interference and increases throughput with wireless mesh network, which is deigned for multi-radio multi-cahnnel structure of WAVE. The proposed algorithm is validated against numerical simulation results and results show that our proposed algorithm is improvements on 8 channels with 3 radios compared to Tabu and random channel allocation algorithm.

  • 이동 방송 매체인 라디오에서는 주로 청취자가 차량 운전자이다 보니 서비스 권역을 이동할 경우나 음영지역에 위치할 경우 동일한 방송을 제공하는 다른 채널로 연계하는 서비스인 service following 기능에 대한 기술적인 지원이 요구되고 있다. 본 논문은 디지털라디오 방송에서 청취중인 프로그램의 상태가 양호하지 않을 경우 인접 또는 유사 채널로 자동으로 이동하여 서비스 수신을 지속할 수 있는 service following 에 대해서 기술적인 특징을 살펴보고 앙상블 다중화기에서 이를 지원하기 위한 FIG 시그널링 방법에 대해 소개하고자 한다.

  • We discuss the design of a radiometer using a millimeterwave(Ka-band) seeker. We applied a total power radiometer, thus the radiometer is composed of a IF-drive amp, band-pass filter, detector and an Op-amp additionally. As a radiometer measure a radiated signal of an object which is noise-like, a radiometer is easily affected by the variance of system temperature. To mitigate an adverse effect, we propose a compensation method in a radiometer without brightmess temperature compensation circuits. Through some experiments such like a distinction a target and the background, we have verified that the designed radiometer system has distingushed a car from the ground completely.

  • Radio, the first broadcasting medium in history, is also the first mobile medium that meets the currently mobile ecology based on mobile communications network. As a result, it is easily approachable to consumers, can easily engage individual consumers, and its program contents have a huge appealing power to individual listeners, allowing it to form intimacy with audiences at the closest distance. However, the listening rating of radio has decreased greatly because it has experienced various changes by many other competitive media such as TV and internet and it has been influenced by relative constant hypothesis. Also, radio now faces a bigger competition due to the emergence of smartphone. In this circumstance, radio showed movements to evolve into a digital radio that presents improved sound, strengthened reception power, and increased number of channels, but it suddenly changed to DMB and portable multimedia DMB is having huge problems in its marketability due to smartphone. Yet, the listening rating of analogue radio broadcasting that remained unchanged was 13.99% in 2014, an increase by 47% from 2011, and the percentage of listeners under the age of 18 increased by 2.4 times from 2011 to 2014, which was a unique and interesting phenomenon. Accordingly, this paper compared the characteristics of internet and radio that have the traits of daily life, information, individuality, participatory, adventurousness, alternative media, expertise, and sound media. The paper then examined the listening method of radio, in which the direct groundwave antenna reception through a vehicular device is the most common form during the use of transportation means. Finally, it sought to investigate the future of radio based on the understanding of the increase in radio listening ratings, especially by comparing it to the characteristics of smart generation that focus on smartphone and the internet The study results demonstrated that entertainment and amusements are attempting at changes while they used to be obtained selectively by the smart generation from fragmentary information. In addition, radio is expected to become an influential medium in the future through its advantages of 'selected information' and reliability. However, considering such possibilities, radio needs to build the expertise and reliability of broadcasting contents much more at the same time as its digitalization, and it will be able to have its own competitiveness by focusing on various experiences and cultural exposures.

On-Glass Vehicle Antennas Using a Multi-Loop Structure (다중 루프 형태의 차량용 글래스 안테나)

  • In this paper, we propose a novel on-glass antenna for FM radio reception in a recreation vehicle(RV). We use a multi-loop structure that takes advantage of a broad matching bandwidth and a high vertical radiation gain by efficiently utilizing a given space of a quarter glass in spite of the simple planar structure. Transparency of the antenna is also improved by adjusting the stripline widths based on the induced current distributions. The proposed antenna is printed on a quarter glass of a commercial vehicle and antenna performances such as the return loss and the gain are measured in a semi-anechoic chamber. The result shows the average gain of -9.67 dBi along the bore-sight direction($\theta=90^{\circ}$, $\phi=270^{\circ}$) in the FM radio band(80$\sim$l10 MHz), which is higher than a commercial monopole typed on-glass antenna($G_{ave}$=-12.49 dBi) and micro-antenna($G_{ave}$=-19.24 dBi) mounted on the roof of the RV.

  • 차량용 안테나 시스템을 설계하기 위해서는 안테나를 포함한 차량 전체를 하나의 안테나계로 모델링해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 안테나계를 wire-grid법을 적용하여 FM 라디오 대역에서 모델링 하였다. 시뮬레이션은 NEC(Numerical Electromagnetic Code)-2 모멘트법 코드를 이용하여, wire의 반경을 $0.005{\lambda}$일 때와 twice surface arearule의 경우를 각각 적용하여 해석하였다. 이 해석의 타당성 검증을 위하여 복사 패턴의 수치 해석치를 구한 후 실제 차량의 실험 결과와 비교하였다.

  • In this paper, we have studied the transmission reception method and data structure of the radio data system which was recommendedby EBU. We have develped the novel software that has processing capability of 5 primary features of RDS services, and experimanted the auto-tuning mechanism and LCD display. The developed RDS receiver system has the complete compatibility with the conventional FM car streo system, and we have confirmed the realization validity via the hardware experimentation.
