Development of Tele-operation Interface and Stable Navigation Strategy for Humanoid Robot Driving (휴머노이드 로봇의 안전한 차량 주행 전략 및 원격 제어 인터페이스 개발)

  • This paper presents a novel driving system by the humanoid robot to drive a vehicle in disaster response situations. To enhance robot's capability for substituting human activities in responding to natural and man-made disaster, the one of prerequisite skills for the rescue robot is the mounted mobility to maneuver a vehicle safely in disaster site. Therefore, our driving system for the humanoid is developed in order to steer a vehicle through unknown obstacles even under poor communication conditions such as time-delay and black-out. Especially, the proposed system includes a tele-manipulation interface and stable navigation strategies. First, we propose a new type of path estimation method to overcome limited communication. Second, we establish navigation strategies when the operator cannot recognize obstacles based on Dynamic Window Approach. The effectiveness of the proposed developments is verified through simulation and experiments, which demonstrate suitable system for driving a vehicle in disaster response.

Remote Measurement of the Automobile′s ECU Signals with KWP2000 using Bluetooth Module (Bluetooth 모듈을 이용한 KWP2000 차량 ECU신호의 원격 계측)

  • This paper presents the remote measurement of the ECU signals adopted with KWP 2000 protocol using the wireless communication technique of bluetooth. The bluetooth technology will be the most promising network paradigm which can open the new area in the information technology. Especially, bluetooth module is able to link all the electrical products and personal computers to cellular phone or PDA. This research has a try to design a wireless measurement model of ECU signal based on the car telemery system using bluetooth device. In order to measure the ECU signals, we designed the interface circuits which is able to communicate between the ECU system and the terminal circuits according to the ISO, SAE regulation of communication protocol standard. A microprocessor S3c341 OX is used for the system control and communication of ECU signals. The embedded system software is programmed to measure the ECU signals using the ARM compiler and ANCI C based on Micro/OS-II kernel to communicate between two bluetooth modules using bluetooth stack. The remote measurement of ECU signals using the bluetooth was designed and implemented to evaluate the performance of wireless network to the transmit measurement data. The possibility for the remote measurement of the self diagnosis signals of ECU adopted with KWP2000 protocol verified through the developed systems and algorithms in embedded system.

  • The use of unmanned combat systems is of interest for future battlefield. Advanced techniques are being actively studied to build fully autonomous unmanned systems. However, there are technical, ethical and legal limitations for the fully autonomous unmanned combat systems. In addition, a remote controlled system is necessary so far in order to prepare for situations where fully autonomous unmanned systems fail to function properly. Thus, a procedure of developing operational requirements in system level is proposed and interface requirements of unmanned combat vehicles for remote control are described in this study.

  • 무인 항공기는 지상 조종 또는 자동 비행으로 원격제어, 각종 정찰, 수송, 및 공격 등의 다양한 임무를 수행할 수 있는 비행체 및 이를 포함한 시스템을 의미한다. 무인기의 자율 운항을 위해서는 위치, 속도 및 자세 등의 항법 정보를 제공하는 항법 시스템이 반드시 필요하며 크기가 작은 무인기를 위해서는 탑재체의 중량이 적은 항법 시스템이 반드시 필요하다. 최근에는 반도체 MEMS 기술을 이용한 저가형 관성 센서들이 많이 개발 되고 있으며 이를 이용한 소형, 저전력, 고정밀 항법 시스템들이 많이 연구 개발되고 있다. GPS/AHRS 결합 시스템은 자세각, 각속도, 가속도 정보 및 GPS를 이용한 위치, 슥도 정보 제공이 가능한 시스템으로 비행체의 자율비행을 위한 정보 제공이 가능한 시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 MEMS 센서를 기반으로한 GPS/AHRS 결합 항법 시스템 설계하고 차량을 이용하여 성능을 평가한 결과를 보여준다.

Recent Developments and Field Application of Foreign Waterworks Automatic Meter Reading (국외 상수도 원격검침시스템의 개발 동향 및 현장 적용 사례 고찰)

  • The market trends of automatic meter reading associated with smart water meters were investigated. Also, recent developments and field applications of key technology for automatic meter reading associated with smart water meters were analyzed. Smart water meters have been manufactured mostly in United States and Europe and have been expanded their business to Asia. Integrated water management system combining with the additional functions such as real-time consumption metering, cost notification, water conservation, leak detection, water quality monitoring, and flow control have been operated in automatic meter reading. Both water quality and quantity data measured from smart water meters and sensors were transferred to data concentration units through neighborhood area network, and then were transferred to integrated server through wide area network. The data transfer methods were determined by comprehensively considering urban scale, density of smart water meters, power supply and network topologies. Common data collection methods such as fixed network to data concentation units, vehicles drive by, people walk by, and drone fly by have been applied. The automatic meter reading associated with smart water meters are spread throughout the world, and both water and energy savings result in saving the money and reducing the greenhouse gases emission.

  • Airport GIS is a comprehensive information system to improve security and efficiency of airport. At the initial stage to make it real, the current status of domestic and international regulations along with relevant standardization bas been reviewed. Gimpo Airport becomes a test-bed to get some ideas about how to bring the airport GIS into workflow by building service model and basic design based on current status and demand analysis of the airport. The 6 service models primarily brought into the project are as follows: (1) Local vehicles safety management in airside, (2) Intelligent traffic control between flights and vehicles at main cross points, (3) Dynamic safety management against FOD in airside and breakage on pavement, (4) Special support vehicle management such as deicing remotely controlled, (5) Response and support for fire vehicles and ambulances of signatory institutions in emergency. The upcoming research topic aims at drawing a specific design and building integrated system in the future.

  • It comes into the spotlight as the new Blue Ocean in which the connected car industry in which the car and mobile communication technology is convergence. All sorts of infortainments services connecting with the portable electronic device(Smart phone, tablet PC, and MP3 player) and car are rapidly grown. The Connected car emphasizes the vehicle connectivity with the concept that the car has communication with the around on a real time basis and it provides the safety and expedience to the operator and using the thing of Internet (IoT) in the car and supports the application, presently, the entertainment service including the real-time Navigation, parking assistant function, not only the remote vehicle control and management service but also Email, multimedia streaming service, SNS and with the platform. Intelligent vehicle network is studied as the kind according to MANET(Mobile Ad Hoc Network) for the safety operation of the cars of the road and improving the efficiency of the driving. The intelligent vehicle network is comprised for the driving information offering changing rapidly of the communication(V2V: Vehicle to Vehicle) between the car and the car, communication(V2I : Vehicle to Infrastructure) between the infrastructure and the car, and V2X (Vehicle to Nomadic).

  • Recently, research activities to develop services for providing safety information to the drivers in fast moving vehicles based on various wireless network technologies such as DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication), IEEE 802.11p WAVE (Wireless Access for Vehicular Environment) are widely being carried out. This paper presents a proof-of-concept model based on a robot-car for Dilemma Zone Decision Assistant Service using the wireless LAN technology. The proposed model system consists of a robot-car based on an embedded Linux OS equipped with a WiFi interface and an on-board unit emulator, an Android-based remote controller to model a human driver interface, a laptop computer to run a model traffic signal controller and signal lights, and a WiFi access point to model a road-side unit.

  • In this paper, we present a new method for monitoring of ECU's self diagnostic signals of vehicle without wire. In order to measure the ECU's self diagnostic signals, the interfaced circuit is designed to communicate ECU and a designed display terminal according to the ISO, SAE regulation of communication protocol standard. A 80C196KC processor is used for communicating ECU's self diagnostic signals and the results are sent to PDA monitoring system. Software on PDA is developed to monitor the ECU's self diagnostic signals using the Embedded Visual C++ compiler in which RS232 port is programmed by half duplex method. The algorithms for measuring the ECU's self diagnostic signals are verified to monitor ECU's state. At the same time, the information to fix the vehicle's problem can be shown on the developed PDA software. The possibility for remote measurement of ECU self diagnostic signal using PDA is also verified through the developed systems and algorithms.

  • The deep-sea miner is the tracked vehicle system which drives on the deep-seabed and gathers a manganese nodules. The miner is operated by remote control in real-time by the station of surface vessel. So operating S/W is a important part of miner remote operating. At present, the test miner has been designed and manufactured for near-shore sea-test. The test miner consists of mechanical parts, and electric-electronic parts. Because those parts should be controled and monitored remotely, operating S/W for control and monitoring is necessary by all means. In this paper, real-time operating S/W for a control and monitoring of the test miner was designed and developed using PXI, embedded controller and LabVIEW. This real-time operating S/W was developed for an efficient test of test miner in a near seabed area. Moreover, database management system(DBMS) was developed too for the data management of test miner monitoring using MS SQL and LabVIEW.
