Interference Cancelation Method for Intelligent Vehicle Radar (차량용 레이더 간섭 제거 신호처리 방법)

  • The most important requirement for the automotive radars is the simultaneous target range and velocity measurement under environment of multi-target, clutters, multi-path, and so on. If the many vehicles with 77GHz FMCW(Frequency Modulation Continuous Wave) radar system are in the near area we should consider the interference signals occurred by other radar systems because these signals reduce exact detection of range and velocity. In this paper, we propose the interference cancellation method, which each vehicle radar transmits chirp trains with the different frequency sweep shapes. The proposed method is applied into the various applications such as an intelligent vehicle, Robot, and UGV(Unmanned Ground Vehicle).

  • 차량용 레이더란 지능형 교통시스템의 여러 가지 구현 목표 가운데 차량의 안전 운행과 관련된 부분으로 열악한 기상조건 또는 운전자의 부주의로 인해 발생 가능한 사고를 미연에 방지할 목적으로 개발된 시스템이다. 본 고에서는 이러한 차량용 레이더에 요구되는 여러 가지 기술적인 사항들과 세계적인 업계의 동향 그리고 나아가 국내의 기술기준에서 고려해야 할 사항들에 관하여 개괄적으로 살펴보았다.

The Interference Impact between Automotive Radar and Radio Astronomy Service (차량용 레이더와 전파 천문 업무 사이의 간섭영향 연구)

  • The global automotive radar is regulated to use the 22GHz~26GHz band. However, it plans to move to the 77~81GHz band of a broadband radar in the millimeter wave for the high resolution of pedestrian sensing and blind spot. On the other hand, the 71~275GHz band is regulated to use a radio astronomy service. The interference is predicted between an automotive radar and a radio astronomy service. Therefore, this paper analyzed the interference impact of the automotive radar on the radio astronomy service and then obtained separation distance for the protection of the radio astronomy service.

  • 전방감지용 밀리미터파 레이더는 밀리미터파를 이용하여 자동차 등에 부착하여 송신파와 수신파 사이의 도플러 주파수 편이를 이용하여 선행차량 또는 전방의 장애물과의 거리와 상대속도를 판별하는 장치로서 적응형 순항제어 시스템(adaptive cruise control system) 등에 이용되는 핵심 기술이다. 적응형 순항제어 시스템이란 레이더 센서를 통하여 전방 선행 차량, 장애물의 속도 및 거리를 측정하여 차량의 충돌 경고, 주행 상황에 따른 자동적인 감속 및 가속, 정속 등 안전주행을 가능하도록 하는 기술이다. 본 기술 동향 분석보고서는 전방감지용 레이더 센서에 관한 기술 동향을 살펴보기 위하여 미국, EU, 일본, 한국의 전방감지용 레이더 센서에 관한 특허를 1991년부터 2005년까지의 특허출원을 중심으로 연도별 추이와 국가별 특허출원 동향, 출원인별 특허출원 동향 등을 분석하여 전방감지용 레이더의 세계 기술 추이에 대하여 알아보았다.

  • In this paper, we design the hardware platform and implement the embedded software based on the FPGA and the DSP for the automotive 77GHz FMCW radar system. This embedded software is built into the DSP as the multi-tasking architecture to support the basic target detection algorithm and the Ethernet link. The designed GUI(Graphic User Interface) provides ability to adjust parameters associated with the radar performance, to monitor signal processing results, and to download the raw received signal. The designed platform can be used to develop the optimal detection algorithms for the various applications.

  • Ultra wideband radars attract considerable attention as a short range automotive radar because of its high range resolution. Radar signal reflected from a target often contains unwanted echoes called as clutter, so the detection of target is difficult due to clutter echoes. Therefore, it is important to investigate the radar detector for better detecting from the reflected signals. In this paper, the optimal detector is obtained for various mean and variance value in log-normal clutter environment. The types of non-coherent detectors used are square law detector, linear detector, and logarithmic detector. The performances of detectors are compared in log normal clutter environment and the suitable detector is determined for automotive short range radar application.

  • ITS(Intelligent Transport System) has been researched actively to guarantee the smooth traffic and the safety of the vehicle. In recent, as the sensor for the measurement of distance between vehicles, the FMCW radar system in millimeter wave band has been interested in ITS. Actually, 47, 60, 77, 94 and 139 GHz have been assigned for the vehicle radar frequencies in Europe and Japan. However, the performances of the FMCW radar are deteriorated due to the interferences from the surrounding radars and mobile devices. In this paper, in order to model and simulate the performance of FMCW radar under the exterior interference, we propose a new performance parameter, RER(Radius Error Rate), which contains the information of the range error due to the interferences, and show the effectiveness of the proposed parameter.

  • In this paper, we developed a mid-range automotive radar systems based on the performance requirements and test procedures of the intelligent transport systems, that is lane change decision aid systems (LCDAS). The mid-range automotive radar has the maximum detection range up to 80m and an update time within 50ms. The computational loads of a signal processing were reduced by using ROI preprocessing technique. Considering actual driving environments, radar performance evaluations were conducted in two driving scenarios at an automotive proving ground.

  • 자동차 추돌 방지용 레이더는 도로 사정이나 기후에 따른 운전자의 인지 및 판단이 불가능한 상황에서도 차량 간의 추돌을 예방할 수 있는 시스템이다. 현재까지 연구 개발된 차량용 레이더는 초음파나 밀리미터 웨이브 등을 이용하므로 가격이나 크기 등에서 경쟁력을 갖추지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 적외선 레이저 다이오드를 매트릭스 형태로 배열한 다중 파장 구조 방식을 제안하였다. 이는 악천후에서의 탐지 능력을 개선시킬 수 있다. 또한 의사 잡음 수열의 상관 특성을 이용하여 인접 차량의 레이저 신호에 의한 간섭 영향을 최소화시킬 수 있기 때문에 차세대 ITS 기술 선점 및 산업 경쟁력을 확보 등의 효과를 기대할 수 있다.

  • FMCW radar, which is widely used as a front collision warning system for vehicles, is now being commercialized. In this study we develope the radar signal processing system using MPC5775K that is specialized for high performance ADAS. That has special features for ADAS such as 10Msps 12bit ADC, 50MHz Radix-4 FFT, CTE(Cross Triggering Engine) for synchronized triggering between DAC and ADC. The baseband processing board is implemented and shows the result in Matlab.
