  • The mating systems of natural populations of Vicia tetrasperm in Korea were determined using allozyme analysis. The result suggests that V. tetrasperm is low rates of outcrossing or mix-mating outcrossing (self-fertilization, s < 0.5). At the population levels, the values of inbreeding coefficient of ten populations in Korea varied from 0.131 to 0.176, giving an average 0.154. For ten natural populations, multi-locus estimates of outcrossing (tm) was 0.333 across fifteen polymorphic loci, with individual population values ranging from 0.269 to 0.423. The differences between the tm and ts values were not close to zero (tm - ts > 0.154), indicating that biparental inbreeding was significant in the loci. The reason for relatively low outcrossing rates of some populations could be attributed to extensive consanguineous mating and isolation of flowering mature plants. Although heterozygote excess was observed in one natural population, most populations exhibited varying degrees of inbreeding and heterozygotes deficit. Thus, selection against homozygotes operated in the progeny populations throughout the life cycle.

  • The research analyzes data on housing(apartments) value and educational level(45$\sim$59 aged) in Seoul. The results of the research show that: since the economic crisis of 1997 out of which Korea was rescued by the IMF, it is evident that the spatial process of increasing residential segregation and the regional differentiation of housing price are inextricably interrelated. Through time-series analysis for the education level by the administrative unit of Dong in Seoul, already in 1990 the residential segregation by the educational groups was observed, it is acknowledged that this residential segregation has been reproduced continuously. The rate of residence of the highly educated groups in an administrative Dong is closely related to the variation of the housing value within the Dongs. The housing value in the period 1997$\sim$2003 has risen sharply in the regions where highly educated groups are spatially concentrated. That of other regions have stagnated or have risen marginally thus, the regional differences of the housing value have greatly increased. The differentiation of housing price reflects the residential segregation.

  • Computer-animated crowd scenes are often observed in computer games and feature films. The common way to model locomotion of large human crowds is to employ agent based methods where the behavior of each person is independently modeled. But for large crowds, it is difficult for a user to control all the individuals using individual behavior model. Instead, crowd behaviors can be controlled more intuitively at the group level than at the individual level. In this paper, we present the group force field model to simulate path following behavior for groups. A group is a set of characters who have the same goals, i.e. the same path to follow. We also define three characteristics of grouping behavior: alignment, cohesion, and distribution. Our group force field model preserves these characteristics while avoiding collisions. By using our model, user can generate desired group behaviors from line-up behavior to lumped one.

  • Natural clonal stock of triploid crucian carp, Carassius aurahs was identified and its cytogenetic, molecular genetic and morphological traits were studied. Cytogenetic analysis of the clonal crucian carp revealed that they were natural triploidy, evidenced by 1.5-fold increases of cell size, DNA content, and chromosome number. Multi-locus DNA fingerprinting using $(GATA)_4$ probe showed that they had an identical fingerprint profile, indicating the clonal propagation of the population. External morphology and morphometric characteristics of triploid individuals were much uniform compared to those of diploids. Natural triploid crucian carp was proven to be all-female in this study.

  • The purpose of this study wat to investigate relationships of learning motivation and self-efficacy according to participation in a motivational program for university freshman studying physical education. A total of 66 university freshman participated in the current study and divided into experimental group and control group. Questionnaires were distributed before and after motivational program. Statistical methods used in this study were descriptive analysis, paired t-test, ANOVA, and ANCOVA. The results showed the following. First, There was a significant difference in the external motivation variable of learning motivation of the experimental group. Second, the experimental group showed a statistical difference between pretest and posttest in the confidence variable of self-efficacy. positive attitude influenced on leisure satisfaction.

  • This study surveyed 252 senior citizens in the Chungnam and Chungbuk regions to review the effects that information use has on quality of life. Participants were divided into two sub-groups based on household types. Data was analyzed using PASW Statistics 18.0. Major findings are as follows: First, information use, mental and psychological health, as well a&s social relationships found in study subjects were significantly higher among seniors not living alone. Second, factors that influence the quality of life were found to be same for each group, but significantly different for their influence of each group. Factors that influence the quality of life were found to be economic status, information use, and education level. Factors that influence the quality of life in elderly living alone were found to be economic status, education level, information use. Based on these findings, the study presents practical and integrated measures to help the original objective of this research to be achieved.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the genetic characteristics of wild population of Pacific abalone, Haliotis discus hannai in Dokdo island. We used six polymorphic microsatellite marker to investigate the genetic diversity and population structure. The loci Hdh1321 and Hdh512 had the highest number of allele (34 and 22 respectively) and loci Hdh145 and Awb083 had the lowest (5 and 7 respectively). The mean number of allele per locus was 14.8. The average observed and expected heterozygosities were 0.664 and 0.824 respectively, and the average $F_{IS}$ was 0.195. We compared the population genetic parameters of Dokdo population with previously published data of the same species. At the result, the parewise $F_{ST}$ test showed significant difference between the Dokdo population and six populations (published data), suggesting that the genetic relationship of Dokdo population was separated from six populations.

  • The purpose of this study aimed to investigate the gender differences in the mediating effects of perceived social support and negative comparison in the relation between social networking sites and depression. For this analysis, 483 samples were collected and conducted by multi-group structural equation model. The findings of this study were as follows: (1) Collective identity was observed both in Facebook and in Internet Cafe activities. (2) Collective identity was positively related to perceived social support, but perceived social support was negatively related to depression. Also, negative comparison was positively related to depression. (3) In terms of gender differences, the Facebook activities were negatively related to depression for male while the internet cafe activities were positively related to depression for female. Lastly, (4) The collective identity was positively related to negative comparison for female.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore effects of acceptance-commitment therapy on assertiveness and interpersonal anxiety of university students with interpersonal anxiety. Twelve students are selected of three hundred thirty students who completed an assertiveness sacle and a social anxiety scale, and finally six students were assigned to an experiment group and the others to a control group. ACT program consisting of 8 sessions twice a week approximately 120minutes is provided for experiment group, on the other hand, nothing is provided for control group. All participants completed an assertiveness sacle, a social anxiety scale at pre-test, post-test, and 6 weeks follow-up periods. In the experimental group, the assertiveness score was improved after ACT program but not in the control group. The improvement observed in the experimental group was maintained until the follow-up test. In the anxiety test, the experimental group showed a larger decrease than the control group, and the difference was also found in the follow-up test. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study, along with suggestions for future study were discussed.

  • This study distinguished game use groups by considering adaptive game use and maladaptive game use of middle school students at the same time, and analyzed the difference in lack of self-control, peer-support, and game usage by group. To this end, the data of 287 middle school students was analyzed in the Game User Panel Survey(5th year) of the KOCCA. As a result of the cluster analysis, the game use groups were divided into the high level coexist group, the adaptive use group, and the normal group. The three groups showed the gap of lack of self-control, peer-support, and game usage.
