Effects of Consumer Powerlessness on Narcissistic Self-expression on Social Media (소비자 무력감이 소셜 미디어 속 나르시즘적 자아 표현에 미치는 영향)

  • When people feel powerless (with losing control), they show compensatory behaviors to get out of this state. The actions to compensate for powerlessness have been studied in the contexts of products or brands, but this study focuses on compensatory behaviors when using social media. Social media, which can express consumers' selves freely, has become a platform for self-expansion. It has been confirmed that the possibility of relieving psychological powerlessness through self-expression on social media exists. Therefore, we examined how people who felt powerless showed compensatory behaviors on social media. According to the analysis, consumer's powerlessness does not directly affect narcissistic self-expression on social media. However, it is derived as being fully mediated by the feeling of anxiety. The more anxious consumers feel, the more narcissistic they express themselves by posting photos of themselves with luxury brand objects that can show social power or authority. In other words, when consumers experience social powerlessness coupled with anxiety, they are likely to show compensatory consumption behaviors such as narcissistic self-expression in order to make their images cool and luxurious and draw others' attention on social media. We confirm that the compensatory consumption due to consumers' powerlessness, which leads to having anxiety, can appear in ways of presenting narcissistic selves on social media.

Assessment of Nutrients Intake and Evaluation of Nutritional Adequacy of Adults Living in Kyungpook Area (경북지역 일부 성인남녀의 영양소 섭취량과 영양섭취의 균형도 평가)

  • To provide the baseline information for establishing community based nutritional service system in the context of health promotion, we conducted nutrition survey for 196 adults (male ; 99, female ; 97) in Kyungpook area. Individual food intake was measured by 24-hour recall method, and then diet quality was evaluated by Index of Nutritional Quality (INQ) and Mean Adequacy Ratio (MAR). Average dietary intake of Ca and Vit A of total subjects were lower than Korean Recommended Dietary Allowances (Ca; 83% of RDA, Vit A; 77% of RDA). On the whole, mean nutrients intake of male subjects were higher than that of female subjects. It also appeared that overall nutrients intake of younger women (20~29 yr) were lower than that of other age group. When we evaluated the nutrients intake of the subjects by INQ, Vit C (=2.39) showed the highest score. Ca (=0.89) and Vit A (=0.84) were revealed to be concerned nutrients in both quantity and quality. There was almost no difference in MAR between men and women (Men ; 0.88, Women ; 0.86). MAR showed significantrly positive correlation with age (p<0.05), meal frequency (p<0.001) and negative correlation with education level (p<0.01) in women, whereas no statistically significant relationship among these variables was observed in men. Age and meal frequency showed significantly positive correlation with most nutrients intakes among women. In conclusion, nutrition education strategies for sound food choice and regular meals need to be developed to improve the nutritional adequacy of female adults in the 20's.

  • Currently, the rise of social tagging has changing taxonomy to folksonomy. Tag represents a new approach to organizing information. Nonhierarchical classification allows data to be freely gathered, allows easy access, and has the ability to move directly to other content topics. Tag is expected to play a key role in clustering various types of contents, it is expand to network in the common interests among users. First, this paper determine the relationships among user, tags and resources in social tagging system and examine the circumstances of what aspects to users when creating a tag related to features of websites. Therefore, this study uses tags from the social bookmarking service 'del.icio.us' to analyze the features of tag words when adding a new web page to a list. To do this, websites features classified into 7 items, it is known as tag classification related to resources. Experiments were conducted to test the proposed classify method in the area of music, photography and games. This paper attempts to investigate the perspective in which users apply a tag to a webpage and establish the capacity of expanding a social service that offers the opportunity to create a new business model.

Comparison of nutrients and food intakes of young children according to lunch places: based on the fifth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (유아의 점심 식사장소에 따른 영양소 및 식품 섭취량의 비교 : 제5기 국민건강영양조사 자료를 이용하여)

  • Purpose: This study examined whether there was a difference in the nutrients and food intake of young children depending on their lunch places. Methods: The dietary survey data of the fifth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2010 ~ 2012) were used. The children were grouped into either a child care center lunch group (n = 728) or home lunch group (n = 592) and their nutrients and food intakes were compared. Results: No differences in the 24-hr energy intake and energy intakes from lunch and dinner according to the lunch places were observed. The percentage of breakfast energy was lower in the child care center lunch group, whereas the percentage of snack energy was higher. In children aged 3 ~ 5 years, the sodium, potassium, and vitamin C intakes were high in the child care center lunch group. The 1 ~ 2 years and 3 ~ 5 year old children's vegetable intake from lunch was significantly higher in the child care center lunch group than in the home lunch group. Children aged 3 ~ 5 years in the child care center lunch group consumed more beans and fish at lunch. The adequacy of nutrients and food diversity of child care center lunch appear better than home lunch. Conclusion: Parents and care providers need to make efforts to use diverse foods, such as vegetables and fish, in children's meals to provide balanced diets and promote healthy eating behaviors to their children.

Uses of Music by People with Adventitious Visual Impairments (중도시각장애인의 음악 활용)

  • This study investigated how people who became blind midway through life used music and how these uses differed according to individual factors. Sixty-one late-blind adults aged 40 to 60 years attending six welfare centers for the blind in Seoul and Gyeonggi region participated in this research. Participants were asked to complete a 25-question survey in Braille on music utilization and preference, as well as the purpose of music utilization. The response rate was 87.1%. The results were as follows. First, with regard to listening preference, they reported preferring to listen to upbeat popular music on the radio when resting at home. They liked to sing along to lyrics reminiscent of personal memories. String instruments were preferred when playing an instrument. With regard to the reason for using music, inducing mood change was found to be the biggest reason, followed by seeking enjoyment, comfort, sense of achievement, and sense of belonging. Third, for people with adventitious visual impairments, individual factors, such as gender, level of disability, and period without eyesight, did not reveal any significant differences. Last, participants were found to obtain a higher sense of belonging through music compared to those having low vision. Regarding time without eyesight, it appeared that the shorter the period, the higher the sense of belonging participants had from utilizing music, and vice versa. This study provides fundamental information for organizing an effective music program that can meet the needs and demands of people with adventitious visual impairments.

The Effect of Fumanet Exercise Program for Life care on Cognition Function, Depression in Dementia (라이프케어 증진을 위한 후마네트 운동프로그램이 치매노인의 인지기능, 우울기능에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: As dementia progresses, cognitive function decreasing leads to memory loss, speech degradation, time and space degradation and judgment degradation, which causes difficulties in carrying out tasks related to daily life. It was said that community-based non-drug intervention therapy for early dementia patients was important to participate in entertainment treatment, including activities such as awareness and exercise therapy, exercise rehabilitation, aerobic exercise, and art. Methods: This study conducted 15 experimental and 15 control groups(experimental group : Fumanet exercise, control group : general occupational therapy) for eight weeks at the Daycare Center in Gyeonggi-do to find out the impact of the Fumanet exercise program on cognitive and depression functions of the elderly. The pre-post evaluation used KGDS, MMSE. Results: There were significant differences between the two groups in the function of menopause, memory recall, attention concentration and calculation, and depression, and no significant results were obtatined in memory registration, language function, understanding and fracture. The Fumanet movement was judged to be effective in improving cognitive function and reducing depression for the elderly with dementia. Conclisions: The Fumanet movement was judged to be effective in improving cognitive function and reducing depression for the elderly with dementia.

도시저소득층노인들의 급식유무에 따른 영양상태 비교

  • 우리나라 급식서비스프로그램에서는 도시저소득층 재가노인을 대상으로 사회복지관등을 통하여 몇 개의 지정된 장소에서 1일 1끼니(점심정도)의 집단급식서비스(congregate site service)를 제공하고 있다. 도시저소득층노인들의 경우 영양소 섭취상태가 매우 저조한 것으로 나타나 이러한 급식서비스는 노인들의 영양상태에 많은 영향을 끼칠 것으로 생각된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 서울 수서지역에 거주하는 노인 273명(남: 61명, 여: 212명)중 적어도 최근 1년 동안 일주일에 5회 이상의 식사에 참여한 군을 급식춘(N=137)으로 하고 나머지를 비급식군(N=136)으로 하여 영양상태를 비교하였다. 급식군은 비급식군에 비해 독거노인의 비율이 유의하게 높았으며 교육수준이 낮고 식품비 사용액수가 적었다. 24시간 회상법으로 조사한 결과 급식군은 비급식군에 비해 동물성단백질(p < 0.001), 동물성지방(p < 0.01), 동물성칼슘(p <0.01), 동물성 철분(P <0.001), 아연(p <0.01), 비타민B$_2$ (p < 0.001), 비타민B$_{6}$ (p < 0.01), 콜레스테롤(p <0.001)섭취량이 유의하게 많은 것으로 나타났으며 MAR도 유의하게 높았으나(P <0.01) 급식, 비급식군의 MAR이 각각 0.59, 0.53으로 모두 식사의 질이 낮았다. 급식군은 점심 급식을 통하여 하루 총섭취량 중 에너지는 39.7%, 당질33.7%, 단백질 43.8%, 지방 52.0%, 칼슘 35.2%, 철분은 36.9%, 비타민E 55.7%를 섭취하고 있어 하루 총섭취량의 33-56%를 급식에 의존하고 있었다. 반면에 비급식군은 하루 총섭취량 중 18-31%의 영양소를 점심으로 섭취하고 있어 대조를 보였다. 급식군은 비급식군에 비해 키가 유의하게 작은 것(p<0.001)외에는 다른 신체 계측치에서는 유의차가 없었다. 급식군은 혈중 철분지표 중에서 유의하게 낮은 MCH(P < 0.05)와 유의하게 높은 TIBC를 보였으나(p <0.05) hemoglobin 수치에 의한 빈혈비율(여 < 12.0d/㎗, 남 < 13.5g/㎗)은 급식, 비급식군 각각 20.2%, 23.8%로서 유의한 차이가 없었으며 12문항을 사용하여 조사한 우울점수에서도 군 간의 유의한 차이가 없었다. 이상으로 보아 급식군은 비급식군에 비해 사회 경제적 수준이 낮으나 점심급식을 통하여 하루 필요영양소의 1/3-1/2를 섭취함으로써 비급식군에 비해 영양소섭취량이 높거나 비슷한 섭취량을 유지하고 있었으며 신체계측치와 빈혈비율 등에서 급식군에 비해 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 그러나 급식과 비급식군 모두에서 MAR이 낮아 아직도 대부분의 섭취영양소가 권장량의 75%미만으로 나타나 저소득층노인에게서 급식의 확대와 함께 급식의 질을 좀 더 높일 수 있도록 정부와 자치단체에서 의 각별한 관심과 지원이 절실히 필요하다고 생각된다.

Nutrient Intake Status of Male and Female University Students in Chuncheon Area (춘천지역 남녀 대학생들의 영양소 섭취 상태)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the nutrient intake status of university students in Chuncheon area (175 males and 131 females). This study was conducted by employing a self-administered questionnaire. Dietary assessment was measured by a 24-h recall method. The average height and weight of male students were $175.2{\pm}6.2cm$ and $68.2{\pm}9.9kg$, respectively. For female students, average values were $161.7{\pm}5.2cm$ and $55.1{\pm}6.5kg$, respectively. The mean BMIs for both male and female students were 22.2 and 21.1, respectively. In both male and female students, the rate of skipping breakfast was high. Daily averages for energy, carbohydrates, protein, and fat intakes in male students were significantly higher than those of female students (P<0.001). For male students, protein, vitamin B1, P, Fe, and Na were above recommended nutrient intake and adequate intake, whereas for female students, they were protein, vitamin A, P, and Na. For male students, nutrient intakes for Ca, vitamin $B_2$, vitamin C, and vitamin $B_6$ were below the estimated average requirement (EAR) by at least 50% or more, whereas for female students, they were vitamin C, Fe, vitamin $B_6$, vitamin $B_2$, niacin, folate, and Ca. Ca was alarmingly low, with more than 75% of both male and female students showing levels below the EAR. Therefore, it is important that nutritional education be facilitated for college students to take responsibility of their own health through learning about nutrient intake as well as developing positive eating habits.
