  • This study suggests internal and external virtuous behavior in organization influenced employees' organizational citizenship behavior (OCB), organizational loyalty and emotional exhaustion through mediated effect of affective commitment and collective self-esteem. Virtue in organization has received attention as critical attribute of positive organizational scholarship. Cameron(2003) defined the study of virtue as a study of the capacity, attributes, and reserve in organization that facilitates the expression of positive deviance among organization member. Accordingly, this study presumed that virtuous behaviors within organization positively associate with OCB, and organizational loyalty through affective commitment whereas the virtuous behaviors negatively influence emotional exhaustion. On the other hand, we assumed that external virtuous behaviors positively associate with OCB and organizational loyalty and negatively associate with emotional exhaustion individually. In study 1, we conducted interview with Korean employees created items for internal and external virtue, and implemented empirical study for 253 employees of domestic companies in study 2. This study contributes to the empirical investigation on how internal virtue (i.e. the employees' virtue for their organization) and external virtue (i.e. the organization's virtue for society), used as independent variables, influence employees' organizational citizenship behavior (OCB), organizational loyalty and emotional exhaustion after creating items for the two virtuous behaviors through qualitative research.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of the compaction and virtue experienced by police officers in the organization on positive emotion and, second, to demonstrate the effect of positive emotion on the organization uniformity, which is subordinate variable. Third, we intend to verify the mediated effect of positive emotion in the relationship between compassion and organization uniformity, and fourthly, to demonstrate the coordination effect of collective self-esteem in the relationship between positive emotion and organization identicalness. Sampling of this study was conducted on 353 male and female police officers working at police stations belonging to the National Police Agency and used these samples for hypothesis testing. Studies have confirmed that the compaction and virtue experienced by police officers have a positive effect on positive emotion, and that positive emotion has a positive effect on the phenomenon of tissue co-ordination. And it has been shown that positive emotion plays a full role in the relationship between compassion, virtue and organizational co-ordination, and that positive emotion and collective self-esteem plays a controlling role in the relationship with organizational co-ordination. The theoretical implications of this study will contribute to creating a positive organizational culture by maintaining a strict hierarchical relationship and spreading the compaction and virtuous behavior to police organizations with high task stress.

  • This study investigated the effects of self concept on impulsive purchase and after-buying emotional response. For these purposes, researcher compared the impulsive purchasing and after-buying emotional response by socially independent-dependent groups in self concept. The results of present research were as follow: First, impulsive purchase led to high after-buying emotional response such as guilt, regret, happiness, but it did not in pride. non-impulsive purchase led to high pride. Second, socially independent self concept led high impulsive purchase. Third, socially independent self concept moderated the effect of impulsive buying on guilt, regret, happiness, but it did not in pride also. These results show that socially independent consumers in self concept purchase cell-phone impulsively and have high guilt, regret, happiness in after-buying emotion. But the low pride would be interpreted that they don't think their impulsive purchases desirable.

Second, it was shown that the factors such as self-respect, educational services and personal interest had significant effects statistically on satisfaction with their campus life. Third, it turned out that there were significant differences in satisfaction with their campus life between those who considered halting their studies and those who did not. Therefore, concrete efforts at the university level should be put into practice to enhance students' self-respect for and satisfaction with their universities.

  • Seomin has been used frequently in mass media and political discussion. However, who is Seomin, how to define Seomin, and whether Seomin and middle class are different has been rarely discussed. This study conducted both national level of survey and in-depth interviews and explored how to define Seomin and who respondents think as Seomin. The majority of respondents consider themselves as Seomin and that monthly income is the most important criteria to define Seomin. Seomin was considered as those who have high school education and 200~300(million won) monthly income, live in a rented house, and work as a small-scale self-employer, skilled laborer, and low level of white collar workers. Also, Seomin is a precarious group which can achieve upward or downward mobility and is located between low and middle class. Those who have Seomin identity tend to have pride in their social status and hope for upward mobility rather than depreciate their social status or envy the middle class. In order for Seomin to be able to achieve upward mobility and to maintain pride in current status, diverse social policies are needed. Further analyses on examining characteristics and policy needs of Seomin are needed.

  • The purpose of this research is to examine that internal virtue (i.e. virtue between organizational members) and external virtue (i.e. virtue between organizational members and external members) positively associate with job performance when considering organizational identification, positive work-related identity, affective commitment, emotional exhaustion, and collective self-esteem as mediators. Virtue in organization has received attention as critical attribute of positive organizational scholarship. Cameron(2003) defined the study of virtue as a study of the capacity, attributes, and reserve in organization that facilitates the expression of positive deviance among organization member. In addition, this study contributes to the qualitative investigation on how internal giving virtue (i.e. the employees' virtue for their organization), internal receiving virtue (i.e. virtue employees receive from their organization), external giving virtue (i.e. the organization's virtue for society), and external receiving virtue (i.e. virtue the organization receives from society), used as independent variables, influence job performance after creating research model for the four virtuous behaviors through qualitative research. Therefore, this research contributes to the creation of research model for virtuous behaviors within organizations and virtuous behaviors with external members through qualitative study and sheds light on how these variables influence job performance by virtue of qualitative research.

Q questions were made of 36 items, including personal value system and role attitude. P sample included 23 librarians. Data were collected for 8 days (from April 15, 2005 to April 22, 2005). First, librarians role orientations were classified into 3 types: user-centered orientation, organization-centered orientation, and expertise-centered orientation. (1) The first type librarians were interested in having good relationships with users, while emphasizing the importance of providing good services to the users. (2) The second type of librarians were concerned with social function of the library, while placing highlight on their roles as organizational members. Among them, achievement evaluation was regarded as an important indicator of personal success. They were interested in having stable organizational culture, as well as economic growth of libraries. This orientation was dominant among married members. (3) The third type of librarians focused on librarians role implementation and professional achievement. They showed interest not only in the improvement of librarians creativity and the growth of expertises, but also the expansion of retraining opportunities. This orientation was conspicuous among female librarians. Second, several commonalities and differences were consistently found among librarians. The first type was interested in user-centered orientation(user contact, need satisfaction, self dignity, etc.). The second type was interested in organization-centered orientation(creativity, expertise growth, retraining opportunity, professional achievement. self-respect, etc.).

  • The purpose of this study is to reveal the causal relationship between core categories experienced by firefighters in the organization based on the grounded theory as a method of qualitative research. In this study, we interviewed 50 firefighter information providers who work in Seoul in 2014, 2017, and 2018, and conducted a research model that shows the causal relationship of core categories through open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. As a result, compassion experienced by information providers is revealed as a core category, and this compassion has a positive effect on positive work related identity, collective self esteem, and job performance. Therefore, the theoretical implication of this study is that it has derived a research model that shows the causal relationship between compassion and job performance based on grounded theory as a qualitative research methodology. This study will contribute to the formation of the organizational culture that enables firefighters who desperately need compassion in the fire department organization to more actively exchange compassionate actions.
