  • Object-oriented porgramming is a major trend in computer software because it increases the flexibility of large scale software system. In this paper the advantages of the new software approach for optimal design of induction motor are demonstrated with an implementation of the motor design and characteristics analysis functions. And evolution strategy is used in optimization process.

  • Many multiagents cooperative problems, such as table transport problem, require several emergent behaviors and a proper coordination of these is essential for successful accompishment of the task. We study in this paper the genetic programming method, called fitness switching, to evolve cooperation strategies of robots in these kind of tasks and show simulation results to demonstrate its effectiveness.

  • 서열 정렬(sequence alignment)은 새로운 서열의 기능적, 구조적, 진화적 분석을 용이하게 하기 때문에 분자 생물학(molecular biology) 등에서 널리 사용된다. 지금까지 서열 정렬 알고리즘들에 대한 연구는 활발히 진행되어 왔다. 특히, 생물학 데이터양의 기하급수적인 증가와 전체 유전체 서열의 분석이 이루어진 종(species)들이 증가하면서, 보다 빠르고 정확하게 서열 정력을 수행하는 알고리즘이 필요하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 동적 프로그래밍 방식에서부터 전체 유전체 서열 알고리즘에 이르기까지 서열 정렬 알고리즘의 연구 동향을 분석하고자 한다.

Structure Pruning of Dynamic Recurrent Neural Networks Based on Evolutionary Computations (진화연산을 이용한 동적 귀환 신경망의 구조 저차원화)

  • This paper proposes a new method of the structure pruning of dynamic recurrent neural networks (DRNN) using evolutionary computations. In general, evolutionary computations are population-based search methods, therefore it is very useful when several different properties of neural networks need to be optimized. In order to prune the structure of the DRNN in this paper, we used the evolutionary programming that searches the structure and weight of the DRNN and evolution strategies which train the weight of neuron and pruned the net structure. An addition or elimination of the hidden-layer's node of the DRNN is decided by mutation probability. Its strategy is as follows, the node which has mhnimum sum of input weights is eliminated and a node is added by predesignated probability function. In this case, the weight is connected to the other nodes according to the probability in all cases which can in- 11:ract to the other nodes. The proposed pruning scheme is exemplified on the stabilization and position control of the inverted-pendulum system and visual servoing of a robot manipulator and the effc: ctiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by numerical simulations.

  • The manual construction of the knowledge-base takes much time and effort, and it is hard to adjust intelligence systems to dynamic and flexible environment. Thus mental development in those systems has been investigated in recent years. Autonomous mental development is a new paradigm for developing autonomous machines, which are adaptive and flexible to the environment. Learning conversation, a kind of mental development, is an important aspect of conversational agents. In this paper, we propose a learning conversation method for conversational agents which uses several promising techniques; speech-act templates and genetic programming. Knowledge acquisition of conversational agents is implemented by finite state machines and templates, and dynamic sentence generation is implemented by genetic programming Several illustrations and usability tests how the usefulness of the proposed method.

  • In the research of biomechanical engineering, robotics and neurophysiology, to clarify the mechanism of human bipedal walking is of major interest. It serves as a basis of developing several applications such as rehabilitation tools and humanoid robots. Nevertheless, because of complexity of the neuronal system that interacts with the body dynamics system to make walking movements, much is left unknown about the details of locomotion mechanism. Researchers were looking for the optimal model of the neuronal system by trials and errors. In this paper, we applied Genetic Programming to induce the model of the nervous system automatically and showed its effectiveness by simulating a human bipedal walking with the obtained model.

  • Multi-domain design is difficult because such systems tend to be complex and include a mixtures of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and thermal components. To design an optimal system, unified and automated procedure with efficient search technique is required. This paper introduces design method for multi-domain system to obtain design solutions automatically, combining bond graph which is domain independent modeling tool and genetic programming which is well recognized as a powerful tool for open-ended search. The suggested design methodology has been applied for design of electric fitter, electric printer drive, and and pump system as a proof of concept for this approach.

A Study on design of Fuzzy neural network Intelligence controller using Evolution Programming (진화프로그래밍을 이용한 퍼지 신경망 지능 제어기 설계에 관한 연구)

  • At the on-line control method FLC(Fuzzy Logic Controller) is stronger to the disturbance than a classical controller and its overshoot of the initialized value is excellent. The fuzzy controller can do a proper control, though it doesn't know the mathematical model of the system or the parameter value. But to make the control rule of the fuzzy controller through an expert's experiance has a changes of the control system, the control rule is fixed, it can't adjust to the environment changes of the control system, the controller output value has a minute error and it can't convergence correctly to the desired value[1][2]. There are many ways to eliminate the minute error[3][4][5], but in this paper suggests EP-FNNIC(Fuzzy Neurla Network Intelligence Controller) intelligence controller which combines FLC with NN(Neural Network) and EP(Evolution Programming). The output characteristics of EP-FNNIC controller will be compared and analyzed with FLC. It will be showed that this EP-FN IC controller converge correctly to the desirable value without any error. The convergence speed, overshoot, rising time, error of steady state of controller of these two kinds also will be compared.

  • In trainir~ga back-propagation neural network, the learning speed of the network is greatly affected by its learning rate. Most of off-line fashioned learning-rate selection methods, however, are empirical except for some deterministic methods. It is very tedious and difficult to find a good learning rate using the empirical methods. The deterministic methods cannot guarantee the quality of the quality of the learning rate. This paper proposes a new learning-rate selection method. Our off-line fashioned method selects a good learning rate through stochastically searching process using evolutionary programming. The simulation results show that the learning speed achieved by our method is superior to that of deterministic and empirical methods.

  • FLC(Fuzzy Logic Controller) is stronger to the disturbance than a classical controller and its overshoot of the intialized value is excellent. In case an unknown process or the mathematical modeling of a complicated system is impossible, a fit control quantity can be acquired by the Fuzzy inference. But FLC can not converge correctly to the desirable value because the FLC's output value by the size of the quantization level of the Fuzzy variable always has a minor error. There are many ways to eliminate the minor error, but I will suggest GA-FLC and EP-FLC Hybrid controller which csombines FLC with GA(Genetic Algorithm) and EP(Evo1ution Programming). In this paper, the output characteristics of this Hybrid controller will be compared and analyzed with those of FLC, it will he showed that this Hybrid controller converge correctly to the desirable value without any error, and !he convergence speed performance of these two kinds of Hyhrid controller also will be compared.
