  • 인쇄에 특수효과를 접목시키는 것은 인쇄물의 부가가치 상승으로 인해 판매촉진과 함께 인쇄단가를 높이는 수단이 되기도 한다. 그래서 인쇄업계에서는 다양한 효과를 내기 위해 많은 연구를 하고 있으며, 그 중 하나가 진주광택안료의 사용이다. 진주광택안료를 인쇄에 이용하면 다양한 효과를 얻을 수 있어 그라비어인쇄에서는 널리 사용되고 있으며 오프셋인쇄에서도 특수효과를 나타내기 위해 사용되고 있다. 광택안료는 고객의 주의를 끌고, 경쟁상품보다 눈에 띄게 할 수도 있다. 일한 안료들을 이용한 인쇄잉크의 제조는 간단하지만, 몇 가지 문제도 있다. 그러나 안료 분말 대신 펠릿 모양을 사용한다든가 하는 방법으로 이 문제들을 간단히 해결하기도 한다. 다음은 진주광택안료에 대해 아메리칸잉크메이커 최근호에 게재된 내용을 발췌한 것이다.

Characteristics of Pearlescent Pigment using in Make-up Cosmetics (색조화장에 사용되는 진주광택 안료의 특성)

  • We investigated the morphological characteristics of the pearlescent pigment by using scanning electron microscope, energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry and thermal analyzer. The result is that the shape of pigment is platy polygonal form through observing the pearlescent pigment by the scanning electron microscope. The size of pigment is various and not formed in standardized size or shape. The pigment flakes were measured about from $30{\mu}m$ to $300{\mu}m$. The tip of the piece of pigment is pointed shape or angled. The result of observing them by the scanning electron microscope in magnifying high power is that the edge and the lateral face of them is an round form and the measurement of thickness is about $9{\mu}m$. As well using the high magnification scanning electron microscope, the surface of the pigment flake observed like rugged as coating with the $TiO_2$ element, the diameter of the coating particle is around 60 nm, then the coating particle consists of granular substance. Analysis of the configuration elements of pearlescent pigment using by the energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry is that O, Si, C, Na, Ca, Ti, Zn detected in the surface of pigment and its lateral face identifies similar components. In thermal analysis, there are no contained quantity differences between them in beginning from $100^{\circ}C$ to $800^{\circ}C$ showing thermal analysis, 1.1% out of contained quantity reduced at $115^{\circ}C$, 1.7% dropped at $416^{\circ}C$, and 1.9% decreased at $797^{\circ}C$.

  • The inorganic pearlescent pigment have high physical and chemical stability, thus it is used in a variety field, which has better light stability, solvent resistance and thermostability. In this paper, we were synthesized the pearlescent pigment for cosmetics which was coated cobalt chloride for base of blue color metal oxide on mica titania substrate using hydrothermal synthesis method. To complement the color of the pigment by cobalt, pearl pigment were coated by different metal salt and cobalt ratio, to implement a variety of color value, depending on the kind of metal salts were synthesized. Synthesized pearlescent pigments appear various color as kind of added metal salt precursor and molar ration of cobalt and other metals. We controlled coating and color by composition of metal salt and type of metal salts, and that confirm the pigment characteristics of color changes through the analysis of color difference meter. Synthesized pigment was characterized by SPM, SEM, XRD, and EDS.

  • 본 연구에서는 $SiO_2$ 판상체 위에 저굴절 및 고굴절 금속 산화물을 다층 교차 증착하여 Pearl Pigment를 sputtering 공법을 이용하여 증착하였다. Pearl Pigment는 Essential Macleod program 을 이용한 색상과 증착된 pigment의 색상이 파장에 따라 blue, violet, pink, red, orange, yellow, green 등(Wave length : 450$\sim$730 nm)으로 동일하게 나타났고, 기존의 제품에 비해 색상효과가 뛰어나고, 표면 morphology가 우수하였다. 주사전자현미경(SEM)으로 막 두께, 표면 조직 및 입자 크기를 측정하였고, 스펙트로미터를 사용하여 각각의 파장을 분석하였으며 EDS, XRD를 이용하여 정성 및 정량 분석을 하였다.

Preparation and Coating of Red Colored Artificial Pearl by CVD Method (CVD법을 이용한 적색 인조진주 코팅 및 제조)

  • Demand for developing artificial green pearl that meets the needs of modern people has been increasing. In this paper, eco-friendly inorganic pearlescent pigment was used instead of organic pigment and urethane resin was substituted for nitrocellulose which has been used as main materials in previous preparation method, increasing gloss from 73.4% to 86.7%. Urethane was coated on substrate before finishing with CVD, resulting high gloss of 96%. Colorimeteric analysis shows that a* and b* of CIE value was changed from +37.7 and +24.5 to +31.9 and +14.2 respectively because of CVD finishing, obtaining colorful, high gloss and durable artificial pearl. Quality and toxicity of samples was established by chemical resistance, glossiness, colorimeter, surface roughness, wear resistance, content of heavy-metal, and salt water test.

  • In general, the pearlescent pigment is a pigment which was used for optical characteristics like pearl, rainbow and metallic luster. Titanium dioxide coated mica plate developed by DuPont in 1965 is currently being used as a main part of pearlescent pigment for cosmetics. Although the smooth and clear surface substrate laminated with 2 ~ 3 ingredients is thicker than a previous monolayer coated substrate, it has been applied for cosmetics as the optical interference powder to realize stronger shine and brighter interference color than monolayer one. In this study, we developed a new optical interference powder with thinner and higher chroma than a current pearlescent pigment for the strong luster and bright interference color. It was prepared from the manufacturing process, in which the coated titanium dioxide precursor was changed and crystallized by coating and heat treatment process with a half of dividing the coated amount of titanium dioxide. We confirmed the dense coating of titanium dioxide grain with Scanning Electron Microscope and measured superior crystallization degree compared with a monolayer coated pearlescent pigment by X-ray Diffraction. It is concluded that our new pearlescent pigment had higher reflectivity of light and stronger interference color than previous products.

  • Humanity has tended pursuing beauty. Pearls has been loved by many people for thousands of years as a symbol of wealth and status. Today, Artificial pearl were made using organic pigment due to bright colors and easy coating process. But the new coating technique is required due to low durability, weather resistance and difficulty of luxurious luster expression. This study, nitrocellulose and urethane were used as binder and inorganic pigment were used to expression of colors. Experimental variable of artificial pearl with nitrocellulose and solvent ratio, urethane and curing agent ratio, the amount of pearl number of coating, drying temperature and time, and coating technology was developed. The coated artificial pearl was evaluated with color-difference meter, ultraviolet ray resistance, promotion weathering. Urethane was better than nitrocellulose when compared with weather resistance, acid-alkalinity resistance.

A Study on the Effect of Pigments used in Cosmetic Manufacturing on the Form of Water Dispersible Formulations (화장품 제조에 쓰이는 Pigments 가 수분산 제형에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구)

  • Formulations which are dispersed in water are often used in color cosmetics because they are characterized by no powder flying, not sticky, and high adherence while giving a light feeling of use. However, little research has been considered on the effect of the pigment on the above formulations used in color cosmetics. In this study, experiments were conducted to measure and analyze the effect of pigments on the formulation of pigments, organic pigments, and pearl polish, which are mainly used in the manufacture of color cosmetics, on appearance changes, pH changes, and photometric stability. Carmine or ferric ferrocyanide coated titanium dioxide mica-based pigments were not suitable for use due to poor photostability, with colors appearing on the surface from low viscosity formulations. Organic pigments had a good photostability of 1% of the formulation which are dispersed in water, but were not suitable for use because they came out of color on the water surface and did not spread well due to the clumping of powders. The titanium dioxide mica system pigments coated with pearl polish, inorganic pigments, and iron oxide were suitable for use due to their excellent appearance and optical stability in the formulation. Furthermore, the pH of all samples distributed by each pigment seems to be within the range of 3.0 to 9.0, which is suitable for cosmetic applications. This is expected to help manufacture color cosmetics with a stable water dispersible formulations by selecting and using stable pigments in anticipation of the behavior of pigments in the formulations.
