  • Consumers' awareness of product value, and their product preferences, are becoming increasingly influential in product development, particularly in corporations' efforts in manufacturing products with a competitive edge. Corporations conduct surveys on consumers' product satisfaction and preferences and conduct in-depth studies on consumer needs. They then manufacture products in accordance with the results of these surveys and studies. With the necessity and demand for digital door lock products recently growing, this research sought to explore product competitiveness reinforcement factors that could facilitate market penetration, and to formulate corresponding design strategies. In-depth consumer interviews were also conducted to identify consumer lifestyles and needs. Furthermore, consumer preference images, purchase and use-related patterns, and the status of door lock markets were studied. In the past, to design and manufacture consumer-oriented products, corporations primarily resorted to the improvement of the products' technological features. At present, the users' product preferences and the ways that they use these products are the factors that determine product design. Consumers today tend to adjust their lifestyles according to available products, and prefer products that have greater value in terms of lifestyle and culture. Strategic points for reinforcing competitiveness were presented in this study: first, offering different values that will enhance consumer satisfaction, second, positively developing bio-recognizable methods that will boost consumer preference, third, meeting the consumers' expectations that door lock products should not be mere 'entrance and exit control' systems, but network security systems and fourth, adopting convenient authentication methods backed by advanced technologies.

A comparative study of field measurements of the pressure wave with analytical aerodynamic model for the high speed train in tunnels (고속철도 터널내 압력파 측정과 공기압 해석모델에 대한 기초연구)

  • The pressure wave formed by the piston effects of the train proceeds within the tunnel when a train enters the tunnel with a high speed. Depending on the condition of tunnel exit, the compression waves reflect at a open end, change to the expansion waves, transfer to tunnel entrance back. Due to interference in the pressure waves and running train, passengers experience severe pressure fluctuations. And these pressure waves result in energy loss, noise, vibration, as well as in the passengers' ears. In this study, we performed comparison between numerical analysis and field experiments about the characteristics of the pressure waves transport in tunnel that appears when the train enter a tunnel and the variation of pressure penetrating into the train staterooms according to blockage ratio of train. In addition, a comparative study was carried out with the ThermoTun program to examine the applicability of the compressible 1-D model(based on the Method of Characteristics). Furthermore examination for the adequacy of the governing equations analysis based on compressible 1-D numerical model by Baron was examined.

Introduction to Chang'e-3 and Analysis of Estimated Mission Trajectory (창어 3호 개요 및 임무궤적 추정결과 분석)

  • Chang'e-3 consisting of a lunar lander and exploration rover was launched on December 1, 2013 aboard a Long March 3B rocket flying from Xichang space launch center. Chang'e-3 was inserted into the lunar orbit after about a 5-day transit to the Moon and landed on the targeted landing site after orbiting around the Moon for 8 days. The successful landing of the Chang'e-3 gives a lot of help to analyze the future needs of the subsystem technologies and to figure out the trajectory from launch to lunar landing as well as operation sequences in the development of Korean lunar exploration is scheduled. Therefore, the configuration and analysis of overall mission of Chang'e-3 is performed based on the public information from the press and website. As a result, overall mission trajectory is reconstructed by solving boundary condition and then estimating control variable. Visibility status and eclipse status also analyzes so communication and power charge condition is as good as to operate lunar lander. Mass budget of the lander is derived using ${\Delta}V$ according to specific impulse.

Model Development Determining Probabilistic Ramp Merge Capacity Including Forced Merge Type (강제합류 형태를 포함한 확률적 연결로 합류용량 산정 모형 개발)

  • Over the decades, a lot of studies have dealt with the traffic characteristics and phenomena at a merging area. However, relatively few analytical techniques have been developed to evaluate the traffic flow at the area and, especially, the ramp merging capacity has rarely been. This study focused on the merging behaviors that were characterized by the relationship between the shoulder lane flow and the on-ramp flow, and modeled these behaviors to determine ramp merge capacity by using gap acceptance theory. In the process of building the model, both an ideal mergence and a forced mergence were considered when ramp-merging vehicles entered the gap provided by the flow of the shoulder lane. In addition, the model for the critical gap was proposed because the critical gap was the most influential factor to determine merging capacity in the developed models. The developed models showed that the merging capacity value was on the increase as the critical gap decreased and the shoulder lane volume increased. This study has a meaning of modeling the merging behaviors including the forced merging type to determine ramp merging capacity more precisely. The findings of this study would help analyze traffic phenomena and understand traffic behaviors at a merging area, and might be applicable to decide the primary parameters of on-ramp control by considering the effects of ramp merging flow.

  • 지하공간의 개발과 지하공간의 굴착으로 인한 지표수 및 지하수 시스템의 변화나 굴착면 주위의 지하수 유동 체계의 변화는 터널내로의 지하수 유입, 지표수 고갈을 가져온다. 또한 터널 상부의 지반에서 현지응력의 변화로 인한 지하수 유출은 지표침하, 하천수 및 계곡수 고갈을 발생시킬 수 있다. 그러나, 터널설계 시 비용 및 시간, 현장의 진입조건 등의 제약으로 상세한 지반조사의 실시가 이루어지지 않을 때가 있다. 또한, 터널 공사가 진행되는 중에는 공사기간과 공사비 때문에 별도의 지반조사를 하지 않는다. 그 대신에 터널 막장에서 실시하는 Face Mapping을 토대로 공사를 진행하며, 대규모 위험요소가 발견되지 않는 이상 별도의 비용과 시간을 투입하여 추가 지질 및 지반 조사를 실시하는 경우는 매우 드물다. 연구지역의 지질은 경상분지내 백악기 하양층군의 퇴적암류, 이를 관입/분출한 불국사화강암류 및 제3기 화산암류, 전기 에오세 연일층군에 대비되는 퇴적암류로 구성되어 있다. 이들을 피복하는 제4기 충적 퇴적층은 주로 단층곡과 동측 지괴의 선상지 및 하천을 따라 분포한다. 연구지역에는 폭 100 m 이상의 대규모 단층대가 발달하였으며 제4기 단층운동으로 인한 단층파쇄대가 존재한다. 퇴적암 분포지역에서는 반복층서가 관찰되며 소규모 단층, 단열, 변형띠 등이 연속적으로 발달해 있다. 본 연구에서는 터널공사에 의한 지하수 변화를 확인하기 위하여 현장추적자 시험과 수질분석 및 지하수 모델링을 실시하였다. 현장 수질 분석에 의한 지표수와 지하수 간의 수질의 차이를 보면, 알칼리도를 제외한 대부분의 수질 항목이 서로 유사성을 보인다. 전기전도도(EC), TDS, 알칼리도의 경우 지표수의 수원지에서 터널 내부로 유입이 일어나고 있다. 이는 터널 공사의 영향으로 판단되며, 현장에서 실시한 추적자 시험에서는 추적자의 이동 시간이 매우 빨라 지표 수원지로부터 지표수가 터널내부로 빠른 속도(10시간 이내)로 유입된다고 판단된다. 지하수 모델링 결과, 정상류 상태에서는 지하수가 북동쪽의 높은 고도에서 서남쪽의 낮은 고도로 흐르는 것으로 확인되며, 가뭄시에도 지하수 함양으로 지하수가 고갈되지는 않는 것으로 나타났다. 부정류 상태 모델링 결과, 일일 평균 $32.49m^3$의 지하수가 터널 내부로 유입되는 것으로 산정되었다. 이 양은 터널 내부뿐만 아니라 터널 공사 현장 주위로도 지하수 유출이 일어나고 있음을 지시한다.

A Study on Conditions for Facilitating Forest Carbon Projects for Greenhouse Gas Reduction: A Forest Management Project Case with E xtended Rotation Age in Private Forests (온실가스 감축을 위한 산림탄소사업의 이행 가능 요건에 관한 연구: 사유림 벌기령 연장형 산림경영사업을 중심으로)

  • This study identified and evaluated conditions for continued participation of private forest owners in forest carbon offset programs. The probability of continuing forest carbon offset projects, which delays greenhouse gas emissions by extending harvesting periods, increases with increasing price of carbon offset credits, public recognition of forest value, and education level. Willingness to Accept (WTA) was estimated using a Multiple Bounded Dichotomous Choice Question, which was 17,039 KRW/tCO2 for extending age to 60 years, and 23,070 KRW/tCO2 for 100 years. The following findings aim to promote participation and supply of carbon offset programs in private forests according to the study outcomes. First, introducing policies supporting private forest owners bearing opportunity costs for avoiding greenhouse gas emissions by postponing timber harvest is needed. Second, educational programs for private forest owners whose awareness of and interests in the public value of forest is necessary. Third, although having participated from the beginning of the offset program, finding ways to lead continuous participation of forest owners who are less likely to accept WTA is also necessary.

Estimating a Range of Lane Departure Allowance based on Road Alignment in an Autonomous Driving Vehicle (자율주행 차량의 도로 평면선형 기반 차로이탈 허용 범위 산정)

  • As an autonomous driving vehicle (AV) need to cope with external road conditions by itself, its perception performance for road environment should be better than that of a human driver. A vision sensor, one of AV sensors, performs lane detection function to percept road environment for performing safe vehicle steering, which relates to define vehicle heading and lane departure prevention. Performance standards for a vision sensor in an ADAS(Advanced Driver Assistance System) focus on the function of 'driver assistance', not on the perception of 'independent situation'. So the performance requirements for a vision sensor in AV may different from those in an ADAS. In assuming that an AV keep previous steering due to lane detection failure, this study calculated lane departure distances between the AV location following curved road alignment and the other one driving to the straight in a curved section. We analysed lane departure distance and time with respect to the allowance of lane detection malfunction of an AV vision sensor. With the results, we found that an AV would encounter a critical lane departure situation if a vision sensor loses lane detection over 1 second. Therefore, it is concluded that the performance standards for an AV should contain more severe lane departure situations than those of an ADAS.

Calpain Protease-dependent Post-translational Regulation of Cyclin D3 (Calpain protease에 의한 cyclin D3의 post-translation조절)

  • Cyclin D is a member of the cyclin protein family, which plays a critical role as a core member of the mammalian cell cycle machinery. D-type cyclins (D1, D2, and D3) bind to and activate the cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6, which can then phosphorylate the retinoblastoma tumor suppressor gene products. This phosphorylation in turn leads to release or derepression of E2F transcription factors that promote progression from the G1 to S phase of the cell cycle. Among the D-type cyclins, cyclin D3 encoded by the CCND3 gene is one of the least well studied. In the present study, we have investigated the biochemistry of the proteolytic mechanism that leads to loss of cyclin D3 protein. Treatment of human prostate carcinoma PC-3-M cells with lovastatin and actinomycin D resulted in a loss of cyclin D3 protein that was completely reversible by the peptide aldehyde calpain inhibitor, LLnL. Additionally, using inhibitors for various proteolytic systems, we show that degradation of cyclin D3 protein involves the $Ca^{2+}$-activated neutral protease calpain. Moreover, the half-life of cyclin D3 protein half-life increased by at least 10-fold in PC-3M cells in response to the calpain inhibitor. We have also demonstrated that the transient expression of the calpain inhibitor calpastatin increased cyclin D3 protein in serum-starved NIH 3T3 cells. These data suggested that the function of cyclin D3 is regulated by $Ca^{2+}$-dependent protease calpain.

A Study on the Children's Adaptation in the Foster Care : An Approach based on Grounded Theory (일반위탁가정 아동의 적응에 대한 연구: 근거이론적 접근)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the adaptation experience of foster children. This qualitative research was conducted through in-depth interview of 8 foster children in and over 4th grade. In data analysis of this qualitative study, the grounded theory suggested by Strauss and Corbin(1998) was used. The raw data collected from in-depth interview with the participants were analyzed in open coding, through theoretically sensitive and constant comparisons method. As a result, total 11 categories, 30 subcategories and 96 concepts were generated. In summary, the casual condition that caused the core phenomenon was 'family stability collapse'. The core phenomenon that foster children experience during the process of adaptation was 'marginalization'. The contextual condition that affected the outcome was 'cultural shock' and 'loyalty conflict.' The intervening condition that promote or restrain the action/interaction on core phenomenon were, 'support system', 'resilience menifestation', 'negative predestination'. The action/interaction strategy on core phenomenon were 'will to power' and 'pursuing moral superiority'. As a result, two concepts, 'mechanical adaptation to foster care environment' and 'active formation' of foster care environment' were assumed.

Regulation of Cyclin D3 by Calpain Protease in Human Breast Carcinoma MDA-MB-231 Cells (인체 유방암세포에서 calpain protease에 의한 cyclin D3의 발현 조절)

  • The $Ca^{2+}-activated$ neutral protease calpain induced proteolysis has been suggested to play a role in certain cell growth regulatory proteins. Cyclin proteolysis is essential for cell cycle progression. D-type cyclins, which form an assembly with cyclin-dependent kinases (cdk4 and cdk6), are synthesized earlier in G1 of the cell cycle and seem to be induced in response to external signals that promote entry into the cell cycle. Here we show that cyclin D3 protein levels are regulated at the posttranscriptional level by calpain protease. Treatment of human breast carcinoma MDA-MB-231 cells with lovastatin and actinomycin D resulted in a loss of cyclin D3 protein that was completely reversible by the peptide aldehyde calpain inhibitor, LLnL. The specific inhibitor of the 26S proteasome, lactacystin, the lysosome inhibitors, ammonium chloride and chloroquine, and the serine protease inhibitor, phenylmethylsulfonylfluoride (PMSF), did not block the degradation of cyclin D3 by lovastatin and actinomycin D. Results of in vitro degradation of cyclin D3 by purified calpain showed that cyclin D3 protein is degraded in a $Ca^{2+}-dependent$ manner, and the half-life of cyclin D3 protein was dramatically increased in LLnL treated cells. These data suggested that cyclin D3 protein is regulated by the $Ca^{2+}-activated$ protease calpain.
