  • We have understood Bauhaus being the origin of Modern Design and Formative Education to systematic semantic aspects to date. the facts that matter to us need to be understood on Bauhaus's education philosophy and the way of administration than Bauhaus's education contents. Bauhaus as designer has been informed to us how a design should be approached to viewpoints handling Objects, Methodology fixing up problems and Social viewpoints. But Bauhaus's design principle or Methodological solution is not setup by specific person but actualized by Masters and professors in charge of curricula. From these standpoints, inquiring into their characters and individual statements for design could be said to upright order. Especially Bauhaus has trio out lots of changes through inner discord and external challenge, taken great pains for the social function of design. So I would like to help right understanding on Bauhaus based on Bauhaus's statements.

  • This research aims to build a concept map reflecting gifted elementary students' perception on fun factors of the classes for the gifted. Data for this research was gathered through brainstorming of 80 students currently attending classes for the gifted. 10 of them were selected as focus group for classification and evaluation, and 140 gifted-class students were asked of the fun factors for level of agreement after concept map analysis. Results of the research were, first, 46 final statements about fun factors which are categorized into 6 sub-categories ('the gifted class teacher's encouragement and feedback', 'confidence and chance', 'teamwork and intimacy with gifted friends', 'fulfilling, beneficial, and rewarding feeling', 'new and special experiments', 'qualitatively different class level and learning environment'). Second, the gifted students showed highest level of agreement on 'new and special experiments' category among the 6 sub-categories. Implication of this research on the field has been discussed.

  • In this study, discourse patterns of four peer small groups in learning science concepts were examined. Verbal interactions during small group discussions were audio- and video-taped, transcribed, and analyzed. Three coding frameworks for the levels of turns, interaction units, and episodes were developed. In the analyses of turns, no clear relationships between students' prior achievements and contributions to knowledge building processes were found. Partly participating modes and symmetrical interaction modes were dominant in the analyses of interaction units to suggest that some students did not participate actively in small group discussions and that students' verbal interactions were superficial. The analyses of episodes also indicated that agreeing and/or partial elaborating on group members' ideas were the most frequent patterns and dialectical exchanges were rare in small group discussion.

  • In this study, the contents of 'electric current' and 'battery' units in elementary and middle school science textbooks were analyzed on the basis of particle and energy concepts. Many problems, reported previously on students' misconceptions about those area, were found in science textbooks. Electric current and battery were covered in both physics and chemistry parts of science textbooks. However, the lack of particle concept in physics units and the lack of energy concept in chemistry units seemed to make it difficult for students to learn those concepts. The descriptions about the two concepts were also not consistent even in the same discipline units. In order to solve these problems, the integration of the views on the particulate nature of matter and energy in the science curriculum and reconstruction of science textbooks were needed.

  • This study attempts to discuss holistic information in order to identify the characteristics of interactions using a graphing calculator. The use of a graphing calculator was divided into three stages: Visual, Analytical, and Self-regulated. The last stage can be called the Self-regulated instrument stage, because this last stage, the use of the calculator, is generally characterized as students actively controlling their ongoing efforts through self-regulating. The accomplishments of the operation can be divided into three levels: Immature, Maturing, and finally, Mature level. First, the characteristics of the Leading Statements were investigated to figure out who has the main role in cooperative learning. This study can support the previous study, which showed that computers could help improve the self-esteem of low-level students. Second, the point of transformation is referred to as the Turning Point. Several functions were observed in the Turning Point: student, instrument, and teacher. Third, when the students convert-sations reach a lull in class and then resume due to certain primary factors without the teachers intervention, this is a case of what is referred to as Structuralization. And last, in this study, the graphing calculator can be used as an auxiliary stimulus to help students control their stress and their attitudes, which in turn can also improve students social interaction.

  • The objective of this study is to figure out some specific features that were found during the adaptation process of migrant women by marriage to their local community, and also to elicit certain practical implications to facilitate their adaptation, based on the findings. For data collection, in-depth interviews were conducted with eight migrant women by marriage and the interviews were tape-recorded for transcription. For analysis, phenomenological method, particularly, Colaizzi method was adopted, by which meaningful statements in the data were categorized into themes and theme clusters. A total of 7 thematic unts, 17 themes and 47 meanings were elicited from the analysis and these 7 thematic units were "reinforcement of inner capability"; "cultural assimilation"; "to be a limited benefit receiver"; "no human network"; " impossible to be optimistic about future"; "hoping to reside in their local community"; "possible to leave Korea." Finally, this study suggested the implications for social welfare practices to facilitate the adaptation of immigrant women by marriage in their local community.

  • This study is a qualitative research whose purpose was to analyze the experiences of training stress that trainees of mental health social worker were undergoing from the perspective of those trainees, ultimately providing them with a more effective way of clinical education. For this purpose, the study made a survey of 9 trainees who were getting through the training course of mental health social work provided by a relevant training agency. Data collection were focus group-based and conducted 1 to 2 times over about 2 hours. This researcher analyzed statements from the participants and, out of them, 85 were determined as meaningful. From these meaningful responses, the researcher constructed 32 meanings. And then, those meanings were classified according to their similarities and grouped into 9 themes, and finally categorized into 4 themes. More specifically, what were stressful to the subjects that they were experiencing in the training course of mental health social work could be largely categorized into 4 themes, or 'lots of trouble in interpersonal relations', 'too much tightness in training schedule', 'little consideration of them by the training agency', and 'poor organization of the training course'. Considering these findings, this study provided practical implications for the training of mental health social work.

  • The present study comprehensively explored the experiences of cognitive decline and of overcoming such decline in climacteric women to gain a deeper understanding of these women's cognitive health issues. Fourteen climacteric women were recruited, and data were collected through in-depth qualitative interviews. The collected data were analyzed using phenomenological methods suggested by Colliazzi. The quality of the present study was further improved according to the evaluative criteria for rigor suggested by Lincoln and Guba. The interviews resulted in 210 statements, 43 significant statements, 17 themes, and 5 theme clusters. The theme clusters were "loss of memory and distraction in everyday life," "struggle to overcome," "greeting an inevitable guest," "conforming to life changes," and "dreams of the past and future plans." As they experienced menopause, the participating women experienced decline in memory and concentration, as well as problems communicating. Climacteric women experienced cognitive decline during menopause and made significant efforts to overcome it; therefore, effective programs that promote cognitive function and adaptation should be provided for climacteric women.

  • This study examined the difference in the item characteristics in multiple-choice aptitude tests focusing on the response position, response length and question types. A university aptitude test consisting of 80 questions was used for this study. The subjects were 3120 senior high school students from 80 schools nation-wide (liberal arts-1650, natural sciences-1467 patients). The results suggest that item prediction is higher for numbers 2 and 3 (located in the middle) than numbers 1 and 4. The item discrimination was higher for pick-the-'wrong'-items than pick-the-'right'-items. In addition, longer choices are preferred. The suggestions for future research are provided based on these findings.

  • This study examined the nurse images perceived by nursing students. The study was specifically meant to determine what images grade 2 and 3 nursing students had about nurses before and after their clinical practice to define the nurse's image. The selected nursing students were interviewed to obtain their opinions on the definition and necessity of a nurse and what a great nurse should be like as well as their prejudice about nurses, and content analysis was carried out to categorize their statements. As a result, 48 significant statements and 14 categories were selected. The findings of the study might not be generalizable because the subjects in this study were selected by convenience sampling from two different nursing departments located in Gangwon Province and Gyeonggi Province. More concrete and reliable results are expected if more students from more geographic regions are investigated.
