A Study on the improvement of damping and optimal design of beam flexure for the passive vibration isolator (수동형 음강성 저주파 제진기의 감쇠 성능 향상과 빔 유연체의 최적 설계에 관한 연구)

  • The vibration isolator system(VIS) which has very low natural frequency could be designed by applying an axial compressive force to the beam-column flexure(BCF). In this paper a new shape of the BCF is suggested. It has stepwise axially varying properties by viscoelastic damping layer. So it has internal structural damping by damping layer during deformation. First the analytic solution is obtained for the BCF. And its critical load, buckling mode, stiffness and stress distributions are investigated. Also the dynamic properties of the VIS consist of the damping layered BCF are studied. Finally the optimal design procedure of damping layered BCF for the VIS is suggested. The improved performance of suggested VIS is verified by some experiments.

Planar Dynamics of the Electric Charaged Particles (전기전하의 평면계 동특성)

  • The fundamental dynamic properties of the planar electric charged particle are investigated experimentally. The experiment is conducted using electric charged spheres(4 table tennis balls with conductive surfaces) suspended by insulating strings to cancel the gravitational force. The measurements of the equilibrium angles and the natural frequencies of oscillation agree well with the analytical predictions with some error, respectively.

  • This paper deals with an application of Magneto-Rheological (MR) fluid to a small size mount for precision equipment of automobiles. MR fluid is known as a class of functional fluids with controllable apparent viscosity of fluid by the applied magnetic field strength. A typical MR fluid is a suspension where pure iron particles of $1{\sim}20mm$ in diameter are dispersed in a liquid such as mineral oil or silicone oil, at the concentration of $20{\sim}40$ vol%. Electro magnetic coil is installed at the bottom of a variable-damping mount filled with MR fluid, and its performance was investigated experimentally. Furthermore, the properties of the MR Mount on experimental Study were explained analytically by mechanical model of the MR mount.

  • In a main propulsion system of naval ship, DRME(Double Resilient Mounted Engine) is mostly adopted to ensure vibration isolation and shock resistance against underwater explosion weapon attack. In this paper, an analysis program for vibration and shock evaluation of DRME is presented. DRME is modelled as multi-rigid bodies with nonlinear mounts, and direct time integration method is introduced for shock analysis. The computed results are compared with those of foreign ones. Navy's proposed specifications are well satisfied with this program. This analysis program serves for the development of domestic DRME technology of naval ship.

  • Leak problem with large pressure drop occurrs non-periodic shock pulsation due to the deterioration of a isolation valve in feed-water recirculation piping system. This paper discusses on the shock vibration and noise occurred due to the effect of acoustical shock pulsations by degradation of the isolation valve in a power site.

  • This paper presents a new concept of a commercial vehicle seat suspension system. The proposed suspension system features an ER(electro-rheological)damper which can produce continuously tunable damping forces by control elecric fields. A dynamic model of the ER damper is first achieved by incorporating Bingham property of the ER fluid, followed by the formulation of governing equations of motion for the suspension system The effectiveness of the proposed ER seat suspension system is evaluated by investigating vibration with respect to sinusoidal inputs.

  • As environmental vibration requirements on precision equipment become more stringent, use of pneumatic isolators has become more popular and their performance is subsequently required to be further improved. Performance of passive pneumatic isolators is related to various design parameters in a complicated manner and, hence, is very limited especially in low frequency range by chamber volume. In this study, transmissibility behavior of the pneumatic isolators depending on frequency and dynamic amplitude are presented. Then, an active control technique, time delay control, which is adequate for a low frequency nonlinear system, is applied. A procedure of applying the time delay control law to a pneumatic isolator is presented and it's effectiveness in the transmissibility performance is shown. Comparison between passive and active pneumatic isolators is made based on simulation.

  • In this paper, a hybrid-type vibration isolator which has air chamber(spring) and viscous damper in series is developed. The developed vibration isolator is designed to perform 3 following functions : spring function for normal operating conditions, damping function to reduce an impact for sudden move of upper beam, and finally leveling function. Based on the given natural frequency and damping factor, the design procedure is proposed. The performance of the developed isolator is tested by measuring stiffness and damping.

  • This paper presents investigation of damping characteristics of squeeze mode type MR (Magneto-Rheological) mount experimentally. Since damping property of the MR fluid is changed by variation of the applied magnetic field strength, squeeze mode type MR mount proposed in the study has variable damping characteristics according to the applied magnetic field s strength. In the present work, the performance of the mount was experimentally investigated according to the magnetic field strength and exciting frequencies. The experimental results present that the MR mount can effectively reduce the vibration in a wide range of frequency by controlling the applied electromagnetic filed strength. Viscous damping and stiffness coefficients of the MR mount tend to be changed according to the variation of the applied currents in this study and MR effect is reduced by increasing exciting frequency.

  • 2중층 압전변압기를 공진주파수로 동작시키면 부하저항이 클수록 전압비가 커지고 부하저항의 변동에 대하여도 안정되며, 특히 무부하시의 전압비는 전기기계결합계수의 제곱과 기계적 품질계수의 곱에 비례하고, 또 그 크기나 형상에는 관계없으므로 설계시 제약이 적은 장점이 있다. 한편 이 변압기의 공진주파수는 압전진동자의 직력공지주파수에 크게 의존하고, 진동자의 고정용량, 전기기계결합계수, 절연판의 정전용량 등에 의해서도 영향을 받으며, 부하저항이 큰 경우의 공진주파수는 부하저항의 변동에 대하여 안정됨을 알 수 있다. 따라서 이러한 2중층 압전변압기를 이용하여 높은 전압비를 얻으려면, 변압기를 전기기계 결합계수와 기계적 품질계수가 큰 압접진동자로 제작하고, 또 그 변압기를 저항이 큰 부하에서 공진주파수로 동작시키는 것이 바람직하다.
