A Study on the inclined balcony and double deck structure of Korean traditional housing (한옥의 경사처마와 이중바닥구조에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose and analyse new technology of structural elements design for Korean-style house(Hanok). Design of modern apartment building adopts many aesthetic elements from Hanok, however, these are only for the decorations of interior. In this study, projected Hanok eaves were studied in terms of the length of solar insolation. Inclined front slab system has been proposed utilizing sloping roof to an apartment building section. This system can provide the same sunshine radiation length and outside view to all levels of building to overcome the limitation of traditional hanok. It also can be applied to all residences the vertical garden concept of hanok. Inclined slab system showed 20% more efficient than flat slab system in terms of solar insolation length. This study also suggested a double deck slab system for not only reducing apartment floor impact noise but also connecting concept of traditional maru system in hanok. Double deck system reduces 66% of floor impact noise comparing with single deck slab of modern apartment buildings.

Dynamic Analyses on Embedded Piles Based on Wave Equation (파동방정식에 근거한 매입말뚝의 동적 분석)

  • For the bearing capacity evaluation, dynamic pile tests instead of static pile tests have been commonly used in embedded piles, which are known to have low noise and low vibration construction method. The objective of this study is to analyze the bearing capacity and penetration behaviors of embedded piles, which are constructed in different ground conditions, by using force and velocity signals obtained in the final blows during construction of embedded piles. For the dynamic pile analyses, the CAse Pile Wave Analysis Program (CAPWAP) and Wave Equation Analysis of Piles (WEAP) have been commonly used. In this study, the CAPWAP and WEAP are used for the analyses of the dynamic pile tests, which are conducted on embedded piles. The input values, output values, and force-velocity graphs of CAPWAP determined by analyzing the measured force-velocity signals are investigated. In addition, similar force-velocity singals are obtained from the WEAP by analyzing the input values of the WEAP. Considering the subsurface investigation results around the pile tips, if the N-value increases exponentially along the depth, toe quake value should be small, and therefore large bearing capacity is identified. On the contrary, if the N-value increases linearly, the bearing capacity is small because of large toe quake value. Furthermore, the stiffness of hammer cushion and pile cushion, which is difficult to find correct values, is recommended lower than 500 kN/mm. This study demonstrates that the results of WEAP may be similar to those of CAPWAP and the WEAP can be used to estimate the bearing capacity of embedded piles.

  • Ballasted track has been used as track system for more than 100 years. Ballasted track has advantages of low construction cost, flexible maintenance, low noise and vibration, and so on. However, ballasted track leads to continuous settlement which causes maintenance. Recently, increase in speed, traffic volume, and weight of train requires more frequent maintenance. Fouling, well-known phenomenon of accumulation of fine materials due to intrusion of subgrade and breakage of ballast materials, expedites the settlement (i.e., irregular settlement) of track. Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) can be one of non-destructive tools that can evaluate fouling level of ballast. In this paper, a gain function based on the attenuation characteristics of ballast material is suggested in conjunction with Hilbert transform. Lab box tests and full-scale tests indicate that the suggested method reasonably classifies clean, fouled layers, and subgrade. However, additional study to eliminate effect of sleeper and to include the scattering features of the electromagnetic wave in ballast voids should be required in order to enhance the accuracy.

  • The internal flow of a pump system that is installed in the interior of large vessels such as tankers is largely affected by the water level and flow conditions of the pump sump. However, the performance of the pump is generally evaluated with the consideration of only the performance of the pump itself, without considering the pumping station operating environment. Therefore, if the pump is affected by the incoming flow that exhibits vortex and swirl, the occurrence of vortex and swirl accompanied with air may cause problems with the pump sump. This effect of flow condition can lead to a decrease in efficiency, increase in vibration, and noise generation in the pump. In this study, to investigate the internal flow of the pump sump according to several water levels, a pump sump scale-model was designed and constructed. The frequency of vortex occurrence and the shape of the vortex were investigated according to the different water levels of a fundamental test. The Class C vortex type, which has a larger volume of air intake to the pump, was confirmed by the higher occurrence frequency at a relatively lower water level.

Development of Separation System with Rotating Rakes for Recovery of Film-based Plastics (기계식(機械式) 회전(回轉)레이크를 이용(利用)한 생활계(生活界) 폐기물(廢棄物) 필름류(類) 선별장치(選別裝置) 개발(開發)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • In the present work, a new separation system with rotating rakes has been developed to separate the film-based plastics from the recyclable materials, and environment assessment is also carried out during operation of the device. Capacity of the device was about 5.3 ton/hr at a rakes rotation speed of 26.0 rpm (the number of rakes in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd trials were 39, 52 and 48, respectively) and a belt conveyor speed of 38.5m/min, which satisfied the initial design capacity (5.0 ton/hr). Recovery ratio and purity of the plastic films were 92.6% and 96.5%, respectively at a rotation speed of 28 rpm. The levels of noise, vibration and particulate emission were below material standard regulatory limits. Plastic refused fuel (RPF) was also prepared with the recovered films. The calorific value and chlorine content of the prepared RPF were 9,740 kcal/kg and 0.18%, respectively which satisfy the first grade quality specification of the Korean RPF standard. As a result of this work, recovery of energy resources from the municipal solid waste is possible by adopting the developed separation device.

Design of Mach-Scale Blade for LCH Main Rotor Wind Tunnel Test (소형민수헬기 주로터 풍동시험을 위한 마하 스케일 블레이드 설계)

  • In this study, the internal structural design, dynamic characteristics and load analyses of the small scaled rotor blade required for LCH(Light Civil Helicopter) main rotor wind tunnel test were carried out. The test is performed to evaluate the aerodynamic performance and noise characteristics of the LCH main rotor system. Therefore, the Mach-scale technique was appled to design the small scaled blade to simulate the equivalent aerodynamic characteristics as the full scale rotor system. It is necessary to increase the rotor speed to maintain the same blade tip speed as the full scale blade. In addition, the blade weight, section stiffness, and natural frequency were scaled according to the Mach-type scaling factor(${\lambda}$). For the design of skin, spar, torsion box, which are the main components of the blade, carbon and glass fiber composite materials were adopted, and composite materials are prepreg types that can be supplied domestically. The KSec2D program was used to evaluate the section stiffness of the blade. Also, structural loads and dynamic characteristics of the Mach scale blade were investigated through the comprehensive rotorcraft analysis program CAMRADII.

A Study on Design of Earth-Retaining Structure Constructed by a Row of Bored Piles (주열식(柱列式) 흙막이벽(壁)의 설계(設計)에 관한 연구(研究))

  • A row of bored piles has been used in several excavation works to retain the earth. This excavation bracing system has much effect on low-vibration and low-noise during construction. The system is also effective to provide protection to the adjacent existing ground and structures. For the purpose of establishment of a logical design method for the bored piles, first, a theoretical equation to estimate the resistance of piles is derived. Because arching action of soils between piles is considered in the equation, the characteristics of soils and the installation condition of piles would be considered logically from the beginning. Then a method is investigated to decide the interval ratio of piles. According to the method, the interval between piles can be decided from the information of the Peck's stability number, the coefficient of lateral earth pressure and the internal friction angle of soil. Finally, a design method is presented for the bored piles used for excavation work. In the presented design method, such factors as depth of excavation, pile diameter, interval between piles, pile length below bottom of excavation and pile stiffness, can be selected systematically.

  • AC servo motor drives, Fara DS series, proposed in this paper can be effectively used in robots, CNC machine tools, and FA system with AC servo motors as actuators. The inverter of the AC servo drive consists of IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) which have high switching frequency. Noises and vibrations generated in variable speed control of AC servo motors can be greatly reduced due to their high switching frequencies. In the developed servo drive, maximum torque is always generated in the whole speed range by compensating phase shift, which results from the nonlinearies of the AC servo motor during abrupt acceleration and deceleration. Abundant protection functions are provided to prevent abnormal state of the servo motor, and furthermore diverse user options are considered provided for the effective application. The proposed AC servo motor drive is designed to minimize velocity variation with respect to external load, supply voltage, environmental temperature, and humidity, so can be widely used in the fields of factory automation including robots and CNC msachine tools.

  • 미국의 콘벨트와 같이 곡물을 집약적으로 재배하는 지역에서 관행생산으로부터 유기적 생산으로 전환할 때 문제가 되는 것은 어떻게 하면 작물윤작을 더 많은 이익이 나올 수 있도록 선택하고 관리하는가 하는 점이다. 곡물생산을 중단하고 사료와 녹비작물을 재배하는데 드는 기회비용은 상당하다. 많은 유기농업 연구자, 학자들은 가축사육을 농장에 도입하여 다양화와 노동력 활용도를 높일 필요가 있음을 강조하고 있다. 가축 역시 곡물생산량이 줄어드는 것을 보완해줄 정도로 곡물 및 사료작물의 가치를 늘려 추며, 곡물생산에 쓰여진 양분을 퇴비를 통해 재활용할 수 있게 해 준다. 곡물 집약재배 지역에서 유기농가는 양돈이 경종체계에 자연스럽게 들어맞는 것으로 생각해 볼 필요가 있다. 돼지는 곡물과 사료작물 모두에 가치를 증대시켜 줄 수 있는 아주 효율적이고 적용이 쉬운 가축이다. 그다지 많지는 않지만 유기적, 지속가능한 양돈 생산에 관해서는 문헌이 좀 있다. 그러나 유기농가로 하여금 유기양돈 생산을 하도록, 그리고 유통의 방법을 어떻게 할 것인가 결정을 내리는데 도움을 줄 수 있는 그런 비교적 구체적인 정보는 그리 많지 않다. 이 글의 주요 초점은 미국 중부지방에서의 유기축산 생산(주로 돼지)에 관한 배경과, 시장의 추세, 인구적 특성, 미국의 기준들에 비추어 생산과 유통에 관한 결정 및 고려사항들에 대한 개관을 제시해 보는 일이다. 농장 수준에서 의사결정은 토지, 노동, 금융과 사회적 자본과 같은 자원을 각종 기회와 더불어 고려하여 이루어져야 한다. 이러한 결정은 모두 농장 차원을 넘어 각종 기준과 시장에서의 세력들의 맥락을 보고 이루어져야 한다. 각 개인의 수준에서는 농업인 역시 유기 흑은 환경친화적 농업에 관한 확신, 바꾸어 보겠다는 결심, 생활양식과 가족에 대한 영향, 그리고 농업인과 가족 경영에 대한 계획의 지평이라고 하는 범위 내에서의 유기적 방식으로의 전환에 관하여 결정을 내려야 한다.aotic motion)의 해석도 가능하다. 이 글에서는 비선형 진동해석을 위한 정규모드 동역학에 대한 연구동향 및 기본 이론을 살펴 보았고, 그 적용 예를 통하여 실험결과와 비교 고찰 함으로써 정규모드 동역학의 적용성을 서술하여 보았다. 선형이론으로 이해하기 어려운 현상들에 대하여는 비선형의 관점에서 새롭게 접근하 려는 노력이 필요하며 비선형 이론에 대한 연구가 지속적으로 진행되어야 한다. 진행되어야 한다.VA코드를 사용하여 흡기포트와 연소실 그리고 밸브의 움직임을 동시에 고려한 수치해석을 도입하였다. 하지만 이들이 밸브의 운동을 고려하기 위해 사용한 이동격자는 격자점은 시간에 따라 변화하지만 그 격자의 수가 일정하게 유지되어 있어서 밸브의 완전개폐를 해석할 수가 없다. 강희정[6]은 단일 실린더와 단일 배기밸브를 갖는 문제로 단순화하여 피스톤과 밸브의 움직임을 고려하므로써 배기행정 후 소음이 어떻게 전파해 나가는가를 연구하였다. 본 연구에서도 최소밸브간격과 최대밸브간격 사이에서만 계산이 가능하나 흡기의 경우는 밸브가 닫힐 때 생기는 압력파가 중요하므로 실린더와 밸브사이에 벽면조건을 주어 밸브의 개폐를 모사하였다.술을 보유하고자 한다. 이용한 해마의 부피측정은 해마경화증 환자의 진단에 있어 육안적인 MR 진단이 어려운 제한된 경우에만 실제적 도움을 줄 수 있는 보조적인 방법으로 생각된다.ofile whereas relaxivity at high field is not affected by τS.   • Nowadays, the blast method is mainly operated in the fields of the rock excavation accompanied by construction site in Korea. Blast method has many merits such as improvement of workability, reducement of operation period, and etc. However, blast operation also create much loss and troubles with the neighbours for the environmental pollutions such as the noise, blast vibration, fly rocks and dusts. Thus, the non-vibration and shallow vibration methods have been used but they have also another problems in the view of the economy and the efficiency in operation. In this study, we had made laboratory tests for the breaking of the various Rock types by White Light Thermal Stress. The tests shows that one unit consuming 500kilowatts of electricity, would go 90 feet a day in tunneling if the tunnel was 16 feet by 16 feet. Also, if a faster rate of tunneling could be handled, other white light units could be added.
