Domestic Development of Vibrational Film Forming Machine and Die and Mold in the High Speed Production(I) - Single production forming machine - (고속 생산형 필름 진동판 성형기 및 금형 국산화 개발(I) - 단수 생산 진동판 성형기 -)

  • Vibrational film has been more employed in ear-phones or small type of speakers along with a wide use of portable multi-media equipments such as MP3 and MP4. However, the current hand work production process of diaphragms is inefficient. In this study, a die-and-mold and a single production forming machine are developed, and they result in a multi-production forming machine. The multi-production forming machine consists primarily of a film feeding unit and an unwinding unit. A vacuum suction device provides the film feeding unit, while the unwinding unit is obtained using an appropriate damper. The advantage of the developed single production forming machine is shown according to a proper voice test.

  • New form of base isolators made of steel spring coated with both natural and artficial rubber were manufactured and tested for material properties. Shaking table experiments were performed using a model structure attached with the bearings. The model structure used in the test is a 1/4 scaled steel structure, and earthquake records were used to check the lateral and vertical stability and effectiveness of the isolators. According to the results all three types of isolators turned out to be effective in reducing the acceleration induced by the earthquake vibration.

  • The wafer positioning robot used in the semiconductor industry is required to operate at high speed for the improvement of productivity. However, the residual vibration produced by the high speed of the wafer positioning robot makes the life of the robot shorter and the cycle time longer. In this study, the input shaping and the path of the system are designed for the reduction of the residual vibration and the optimization of the cycle time. The followings are the process for the reduction and the optimization; 1)System modeling of wafer positioning robot, 2)Verification of dynamic characteristic of wafer positioning robot, 3)Input shaping plan using impulse response reiteration, 4)Simulation test using simulink, 6)Analysis of result.

  • In this study, the vibration analysis and modal tests of cylindrical composite shells which are manufactured with various stacking sequences in present laboratory were conducted under the free-free and clamped-clamped boundary conditions. Natural frequencies and mode shapes of these specimens were experimentally obtained and their results are compared with theoretical and FEM results. Both results are in good agreement, which confirm the usefulness of proposed manufacturing method for cylindrical composite shells.

  • This study consists of two parts. The first discusses the development of a single production forming machine which was reported in earlier papers. The second outlines the development of a multi-production forming machine, which consists primarily of a film feeding unit, an unwinding unit, and a heating block unit. The heating block unit of the multi-production forming machine has 30 members per die. An analysis of the stress deformation and temperature deviation of this machine is carried out using ANSYS Workbench and CFX-11 under the design conditions. According to this analysis, the maximum deflection in the Z-direction is $0.05104{\mu}m$ and the maximum temperature deviation is $0.7^{\circ}C$ when the temperature of the heating block unit is $175^{\circ}C$. It was also found that these values are structurally safe. The advantage of the developed multi-production forming machine is demonstrated to be in its offering of a proper voice test.

  • The injection molding process is widely used in the production of most plastic products. In order to make metal-colored plastic products like those found in modern luxury home alliances, metallic pigments are mixed with a basic resin material for injection molding. However, process control for metal-colored plastic products is extremely difficult due to the non-uniform melt flow of the metallic resin pigments. In this study, the effect of process parameters on the quality of a metal-colored plastic product is evaluated. A rapid mold cooling method using a compressed cryogenic fluid is also proposed to decrease the content of undesired compounds within the plastic product.

  • Recently, a spherical pendulum attached to an end-effector of a robot manipulator has been frequently used for a test bed of residual vibration suppression control in a multi-dimensional motion. However, there was no automatic tracking system to detect the current bob position on-line, and there was inconvenience to not be able to store the bob position in real time and plot the trajectory. In this study, we developed a two-dimensional, real-time bob-detecting system using a digital USB camera, of which the key is hardware component design and software C programming for fast image processing and interfacing. The developed system was applied to residual vibration suppression control of a two-dimensional spherical pendulum that is attached at the end-effector of a two degree-of-freedom SCARA robot, and the effectiveness of the developed system has been demonstrated.

  • 스위치 박스는 건축물의 전선관용으로 사용되는 금속제 박스이다. 이 박스를 제조할 때는 제 1차 프레스에서 성형을 하고, 제 2차~5차 프레스로 박스의 4측면 가공을 하게 되므로 프레스 4대, 금형 4벌, 작업자 4명을 필요로 한다. 이 때문에 기계 사용료와 금형비, 인건비 둥 제조원가의 상승 요인이 되고 있으며 특히 프레스의 굉음과 진동 및 안전사고의 위험성 등으로 작업자들이 직무를 기피하고 있다. 이러한 현상을 해소하기 위하여 금형 4벌에 의한 가공을 1벌의 금형에 통합시킨 캠금형 개발과 자동이송장치를 개발하였다. 그 결과, 프레스 1대와 금형 1벌로 무인화 작업을 할 수 있게 되어 직무기피요인을 해소하게 되고 제조원가 절감효과를 얻게 되었다

Development of Cam Die for Processing Four Lateral Switch Box (스위치 박스 4측면 가공용 캠금형 개발)

  • A switch box is metal box for electric wire pipes in building. In manufacturing this box, the first press is used to mold and the second to fifth presses are used to process four-sides of a box. So four presses, four molds and four workers are needed. This leads to raise the manufacturing cost including machine lease rent, molding fee, and wages. To make matters worse, the roaring sound, vibration, and dangers of safety accidents make employees avoid from working that job. To solve this problem, a new Handling Mechanism and a cam die which combined four-die-involving processes into one die process were developed. That results job automation of the Job with one press and one die. The job avoidance problem is solved and manufacturing cost is reduced as well.

  • Unused energy derived from sources in nature can be captured and stored for future use, for example, to recharge a battery or power a device; this process of capturing and storing energy is called energy harvesting. Extensive investigations are being carried out in order to use piezoelectricity to harvest the energy generated by body movements or machine vibrations. This paper presents a simple analytical model that describes the output voltage effectiveness of a Piezocomposite Generating Element (PCGE) from vibration and its experimental verification. PCGE is composed of carbon/epoxy, PZT, and glass/epoxy layers. During the manufacturing process, the stacked layers were cured at $177^{\circ}C$ in an autoclave, which created residual stresses in PCGE and altered the piezoelectric properties of the PZT layer. In the experiments, three kinds of lay-up configurations of PCGE were considered to verify the proposed prediction model and to investigate its capability to convert oscillatory mechanical energy into electrical energy. The predicted performance results are in good agreement with observed experimental ones.
