  • 플레저보트의 고강도 및 경량화 추세에 따라 복합재료 등 관련 소재의 경량화가 요구되었고, 이에 부응하여 관련 신소재 개발과 진공성형 신건조공법 등이 출현하였으며, 이러한 신공법을 이용한 선박건조가 증가하고 있는 실정에 따라 선박의 구조강도 평가가 중요한 과제로 부각되고 있다. 또한 선박의 안전성 확보와 고객의 편리 도모를 위한 플레저보트 구조강도 확인을 위한 시험방법 등도 다양화할 필요가 있다. 따라서 진공적층 및 수적층 성형방법으로 건조한 플레저보트를 대상으로 선체구조 강도 시험 결과를 비교 분석하여 우리 실정에 적합하고 플레저보트의 안정성 평가를 위한 선체구조 강도 시험 기준안을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 선체용 복합재료 및 구조용 접착제와 신공법인 진공 성형법으로 건조한 레저선박에 강화플라스틱 구조기준을 그대로 적용하기에는 무리가 있으며, 따라서 복합재료, 수지, 접착제 및 진공 성형법 등 현장조사를 토대로 복합소재 및 접착제를 이용한 시험편을 제작하여 복합재료의 기계적 특성, 구조용 접착제에 대한 신뢰성 평가 및 국내외 기준 비교 검토를 통한 국내 실정에 적합한 검사기준을 제안하고자 한다.

Application of the Infusion Method to the Repair of Damage in Wind Turbine Blades (진공성형 공법을 이용한 풍력발전기 블레이드의 수리)

  • Damaged wind turbine blades are repaired conventionally using a hand lay-up method with epoxy, where the bonding strength is not high. Epoxy has poor curing characteristics at low temperatures. The infusion method with polyester was proposed. Infusion method is believed to distribute resin uniformly. Polyester is used because it hardens better than epoxy at low temperatures. At room temperature, the proposed method increased the bonding strength by 77.7% compared to the conventional method. Using the proposed method at 15 and $5^{\circ}C$, the bonding strength increased compared to the conventional method. This paper proposes a new method for repairing wind turbine blades, even at temperatures where the conventional method cannot be used because epoxy resin does not harden. The bonding strength of the proposed method at low temperatures is higher than that of the conventional method at room temperature.

  • Recently, the applied frequency of composite materials was increased from the viewpoint of lightweight, high strength and low cost when a leisure boat and a fishing boatwere built. However, studies on the mechanical properties of composite material with ship are rare. Specially, a leisure boat and fishing boat with FRP had been built by hand lay-up method. However, the vacuum infusion method is rising recently for ship building. The manufactured these FRP plates were combined by using the adhesive. Therefore, in this study Cleavage peel strength, Shear strength and fatigue limit of adhesive bonds by tensileloading were estimated. From test results, the strengths of FRP specimens made by the vacuum infusion method are higher than that of the hand lay-up method.

  • 열차폐 코팅(Thermal Barrier Coating)은 주로 항공기 엔진이나 화력발전용 터빈 등의 $1300^{\circ}C$ 이상의 고온에서 사용되는 부품에 적용되어 모재(내열합금)의 손상 방지 및 에너지 효율 향상을 위해 사용되고 있다. 열차폐 코팅의 경우 Plasma Spray 공법과 EB-PVD(전자빔 물리 증착법) 공법이 가장 많이 사용되고 있다. Plasma Spray에 의한 열차폐 코팅 공정은 생산 비용이 저렴하고 수평형 적층 구조를 통한 높은 열전도율을 가지는 장점이 있으며, EB-PVD 공정은 수직형 구조의 열차폐막을 통해 내열 충격성과 내열 사이클성이 양호하다는 장점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 열 사이클의 내구성이 뛰어난EB-PVD를 이용하여 열차폐 코팅 공정연구를 진행하였다. 본 연구소에서 사용하고 있는 EB-PVD 는 종래의 장치와는 달리 70 kW급 전자총 5기가 장착 되어 있으며, 각각 시편 가열용 전자총 2기 및 피코팅용 가열 전자총 3기로 구성되어 있다. 이런 구성을 통해 다양한 종류의 열차폐 박막과 높은 결정성과 치밀도를 가지는 박막 형성할 수 있을 것이다. 본 발표에서는 EB-PVD 공정 연구결과 및 향후 실용화를 위한 개발 연구 방향에 대해서 기술하였다.

  • Fiberglass-Reinforced Plastic (FRP) composites have been used for small fishing boats and leisure boats for many years. These composites have different physical characteristics, depending on the constitution of lay-up and manufacturing method. Recently, new manufacturing methods, such as vacuum infusion, have been used to make the composites lighter and stronger. In this research, the mechanical properties of fiberglass reinforcements with constitution of lay-up, manufacturing method, and two different resins were investigated experimentally. It was found that the mechanical properties of FRP composites increased with increasing thickness, with the use of vacuum infusion method, and with the use of vinyl ester resin. The mechanical properties of diverse FRP composites can be used as a practical guide for selecting appropriate materials for specific applications.

  • In this study, structural design and analysis of the automobile bonnet is performed. The flax/vinly ester composite material is applied for structural design. The Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding-Light (VARTML) manufacturing method is adopted for manufacturing the flax fiber composite bonnet. The VARTML is a manufacturing process that the resin is injected into the fly layered-up fibers enclosed by a rigid mold tool under vacuum. A series of flax/vinyl ester composite panels are manufactured, and several kinds of specimens cut out from the panels are tested to obtain mechanical performance data. Based on this, structural design of the automobile bonnet is performed.

Strength Characteristics of FRP Composite Materials for Ship Structure (선체구조용 FRP 복합재료의 강도 특성)

  • In this study, various types of composite materials and adhesives that are actually used in the shipbuilding field for small ships, leisure boats, and fishing boats were applied in the hand lay-up method and vacuum infusion method to manufacture specimens. Then the tensile strength, tensile modulus, flexural strength, and flexural modulus values of these specimens were obtained. In addition, the barcol hardness and fiber content were obtained from the specimens. The results showed that the strengths of the specimens manufactured using the vacuum infusion method were higher than those manufactured using the hand lay-up method. Moreover, the barcol hardness and fiber content were also higher in those manufactured using the vacuum infusion method. The specimens manufactured using the vacuum infusion method were thinner despite their large fiber content.

Static Strength of Composite Single-lap Joints Using I-fiber Stitching Process with different Stitching Pattern and Angle (I-fiber Stitching 공법을 적용한 복합재료 Single-lap Joint의 Stitching 패턴과 각도에 따른 정적 강도 연구)

  • Laminated composite materials have excellent in-plane properties, but are vulnerable in thickness directions, making it easy to delamination when bending and torsion loads are applied. Thickness directional reinforcement methods of composite materials that delay delamination include Z-pinning, Stitching, Tufting, etc., and typically Z-pinning and Stitching method are commonly used. The Z-pinning is reinforcement method by inserting metal or carbon pin in the thickness direction of prepreg, and the conventional stitching process is a method of reinforcing the mechanical properties in the thickness direction by intersecting the upper and lower fibers on the preform. In this paper, I-fiber stitching method, which complement and improve weakness of Z-pinning and Stitching method, was proposed, and the static strength of composite single-lap joints using I-fiber stitching process were evaluated. The single-lap joints were fabricated by a co-curing method using an autoclave vacuum bag process. The thickness of the composite adherend was fixed, and 5 types of specimens were manufactured with varying the stitching pattern (5×5, 7×7) and angle (0°, 45°). From the test, the failure load of the specimen reinforced by the I-fiber stitching process was increased by up to 143% compared to that of specimen without reinforcement.

Evaluation of Binder jetting 3D Printed Specimens Using Vacuum Impregnation (진공함침을 적용한 바인더젯 3D 프린팅 출력물의 성능 평가)

  • This study examined the applicability of the vacuum impregnation post-processing to enhance the strength of binder jet 3D printed output. In addition, permeability, bulk density, and compressive strength of 10 mm, 20 mm, 30 mm, and 40 mm cubic specimens were examined to check the strength limit depending on the 3D prined output size. In result, as the maximum pressure increased, the post-processing storage solution permeated to the inside of the 3D printed sample and thus the permeation area ratio was improved. The compressive strength and the permeation area indicate the correlation between the exponential function of the adjusted R-square factor 0.992. In addition, the bulk density was increased, which can be inferred as the post-processing solution permeated to the inside. In conclusion, in order to enhance the compressive strength of the binder jet 3D printed output, it is essential to permeate the post-processing solution to the inside of the output, and vacuum impregnation can be proposed as an effective method.
