This was a descriptive survey to determine the intention of users to use smartphone healthcare applications (SHAs) and to clarify factors that may influence such intention. The data were collected during the month of April in 2015, using a structured self-report questionnaire that was distributed to 300 participants aged 20 to 70 years; 285 complete copies were used for the final analysis. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and hierarchical multiple regression. First, according to the results, the average intention to use SHAs was 3.28 out of 5, which varied according to age, final education, economy level, vacation, current disease, total period of smartphone use, and etc. Second, significant correlations were shown by exercise behavior, dietary management behavior, stress management, satisfaction with smartphone use, and satisfaction with using SHAs. Third, the explanatory power of the predictive model involving all general, health-related, smartphone use-related, and SHA use-related factors was 45.5%; and the economic level, interest, status, and awareness satisfaction of patients using SHA were identified to be the main influential factors. The results indicate that SHA developers need to put efforts into improving consumers' app recognition and to develop plans in provoking consumers' interests to increase the use of SHAs.
This study analyzed plans for retirement by focusing on preferred retirement timing(PRT) measure. Current pension program show rather strong guideline about the timing of full-retirement. This study asked whether the middle age group are willing to retire correspond to the policy guidelines or not. Research sample came from 2008 KLOSA data, recruiting 1,367 workers who are residing in cities or in metropolitan area (women: 34.8%). I have analyzed one item question asking "In what age do you want to fully retire?", The results showed that, about two third of respondents declared they do not want to retire unless they have health problems, or would expect to retire no earlier than age 70. However, a third of respondents expected normal retirement coming between 60~64. Second, the determinants of timing for retirement were differ by PRT. Social determinants, such as gender, short work hours, being employed, and higher status in family income were associated with early PRT. While, good health status, positive view on the future economics were highly associated with late PRT. The results reveal that the timing of retirement is getting more diverse and obscure in the individual level.
Factor analysis is estimated using housewives's intention data in Seoul province. Rice consumers considered safety, high nutritive value, shape and cultivation region as important factors in buying rice. The factors of food safety are brand and quality certification mark. The differences of two housewife groups on safety factor are caused by residence type, employment existence and residence region. The marketing strategies for rice containing food safety target housewives living in apartment, Gang Nam region. Also selling extension for target consumers housewives should be employed.
This paper aims to analyze the Award wage system in Australia for construction workers. Considering low wages and precarious employment situation of construction workers in general, it is of advantage especially for them in Australia. Furthermore, it seems to be instructive for Korean construction workers, who stand in more precarious and unstable situation and furthermore are lack of fair wage and social safety. After strong and longstanding labour struggle in the late 19th century in Australia, it has been established a tripartite institution called as 'tribunal' between trade unions, employers, and the government. Under the highly institutionalized form of industrial relations, it functions as an arbitration and conciliation system between labour and management. The Award wage system stands in the middle point. This Award wage system including various welfare provisions is settled by the tribunal, today renamed as Fair Work Commission. In this wage system should be defined level of minimum wages according to the various skill levels, which are in turn connected with compulsory superannuation and Medicare as well as vocational education and training. Furthermore, it provides especially for the construction workers, who suffer from job instability, so-called 'portable benefits', which relate to long service leave and redundancy pay. Considering general conditions of precarious construction workers in Korea, In that respect, the Australian Award wage system would be very instructive for our social wage and safety system for construction workers.
This study was conducted to identify the caregiver's educational needs for health care of children with intellectual disability in Mongolia. Data were collected from 150 family caregivers of children with disability in Mongolia between September 30 and October 31, 2017. The questionnaire included a scale for health care education needs in the form of 10 categories, 35 items, 5-point Likert's type. The mean score of educational needs of the primary caregiver were $4.05{\pm}0.65$. The category of information and knowledge acquisition showed the highest score ($4.48{\pm}0.57$). There were statistically significant differences in educational needs of the caregiver according to monthly income (F=7.07, p<.001), presence of a secondary caregiver (t=-2.70, p=.008), other disabled children status (t=2.02, p=.046), occupation status of disabled child's mother (F=3.87, p=.023), and multiple handicaps of caring child (t=-2.60, p=.010). The findings on caregiver's educational needs in this study can help inform planning of caregiving support services for children with intellectual disability in Mongolia.
Objective: This study was performed to estimate the number of those who used humidifier disinfectants (HDs) and experienced health effects from exposure to HDs in Korea between 1994 and 2011. Methods: A nationwide interview survey was conducted for the representative sample to identify the proportion of those who used HDs among the general population (n=3,001). Another online survey was conducted for those exposed to HDs to find the proportion of those who experienced health effects among those who were exposed to HDs (n=3,993). Statistics for population size by region and year (1994-2011) were used to estimate the cumulative number of those exposed to HDs and those who experienced health effects. In terms of the proportion of those exposed to HDs, those less than 30 years of age were excluded due to an issue related to information bias. Various approaches for estimation included the capture-recapture method for estimation of those who experienced health effects. Results: The cumulative proportion of those exposed to HDs was 6.7% among the general population, and the proportion of those who experienced health effects among those who were exposed to HDs was 13.9%. Based on these factors, it was estimated that 3.5 to 4.0 million people were exposed to HDs and 350 to 400 thousand experienced health effects at least requiring visiting a hospital. Conclusion: It is suggested that a nationwide representative sample may be essential for population size estimation of those exposed to environmental risk factors and of those who experienced health effects.
Purpose: This descriptive study was to examine death anxiety and quality of life for the elderly living alone. Methods: The participants were 289 elderly who were living alone in D metropolitan city. Data were analyzed with number, percentage, mean(SD), Pearson's correlation, t-test, ANOVA, multiple regression analysis using SPSS/Win 25.0. Results: The participants' death anxiety was 66.85 and quality of life was 58.21. Death anxiety was significantly different by age(F=153.240, p<.001), gender(t=-4.615, p<.001), education(F=263.559, p<.001), current occupation(F=46.324, p<.001), religion(F=693.729, p<.001), relationship with children(F=178.506, p<.001), reasons living alone(F=21.143, p<.001), perceived health status(F=113.300, p<.001), perceived socioeconomic status(F=45.829, p<.001), barriers to managing health problems(F=49.706, p<.001). There was a significant negative correlation between participants' death anxiety and quality of life(r=-.87, p<.001). Conclusion: The results of the study will be used to develop nursing intervention protocol and social support programs for the elderly living alone in the community.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the status of Scrub typhus, Leptospirosis and HFRS(hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome) among farmers with febrile illness. Methods: We involved a total of 841 farmers who had febrile illness(508 and 333 village residents were, respectively, three and four district of Gyeongju city) selected during autumn of 2014 and 2015. Data were collected by survey questionnaires and blood sample examination. Results: Serum response rate for Scrub typhus and Leptospirosis was 1.5% each and 1.9% for HFRS. Serum response rate for Scrub typhus was significantly higher for tick-bite cases(38.5%), while Leptospirosis was significantly higher for those who were in fruit-planting work(23.1%). Similarly, serum response rate was significantly higher for HFRS who were working in venyl green house work(25.0%). Conclusions: Government authority should develop effective and efficient preventive strategies to create awareness of infectious diseases among farmers. Extending information, education and communication be reached to farmers that could change their perception and help early diagnosis and treatment and reduce the disease burden and its complication.
The medical institutions use radiation generating devices and radioactive isotopes to diagnose and treat patients. The patient transporter performs work in an environment that is more likely to be exposed to radiation when compared with the general public, such as inevitably entering the radiation management area for patient transfer, or transferring the isotope-administered patient at a short distance. For this reason, we conducted a study to determine the degree of exposure of the patient transporter. The 12 patient transporters working at Incheon A General Hospital are eligible. From April 1, 2019 to April 30, 2019, the dosimeter was used in the chest for one month and the accumulated dose was measured. The dosimeter used was a Optically Stimulated Luminescence Dosimetry (OSLD) and the dose reading was OSLD Microstar Reading System. As a result of cumulative dose measurement for one month, the average of the deep dose was 0.13 mSv and the surface dose was 0.13 mSv, and the cumulative dose for one month was multiplied by 12 to estimate the cumulative dose expectation As a result, the average of the deep dose and the surface dose were 1.52 mSv and 1.51 mSv, respectively. It is necessary to classify the patient transporter as a frequent visitor in order to measure and manage the exposure dose, increase the knowledge of protection against radiation through education and training, and prevent radiation trouble through medical examination.
This study aimed to define the diagnostic criteria for cervicogenic headache and propose an efficient method of clinical evaluation and physical therapy. Fifteen patients with cervicogenic headache and 15 healthy individuals were recruited and categorized into the test group and the control group, respectively. The groups were compared in terms of muscle characteristics, muscle activity and posture, and the intervariable correlations were analyzed for the test group. A significant between-group difference was found in the stiffness of the suboccipital muscle and the tone and stiffness of the upper trapezius muscle (p<.001). In posture comparison, a significant difference was noted in neck tilt angle and the T1 slope angle (p<.05). The activity of the sternocleidomastoid muscle was also significantly different between the groups (p<.001). When the correlations among the muscle characteristics, the posture, and the activity of the sternocleidomastoid muscle were analyzed for the test group, a positive correlation was found between the tone and the stiffness of the suboccipital muscle (p<.001) and between the tone and the stiffness of the upper trapezius muscle (p<.001). The findings of this study suggest a more efficient approach for the assessment and treatment of cervicogenic headache patients. It is considered that, further studies including more subjects of various job categories and comparing the outcomes.
