  • Radiological Technologists deals with the life of a person which means professional competency is essential for the job. Nevertheless, there have been no studies in Korea that identified the job competence of radiologists. In order to define the core job competencies of Korean radiologists and to present the factor models, 147 questionnaires on job competency of radiology were analyzed using 'PASW Statistics Version 18.0' and 'AMOS Version 18.0'. The valid model consisted of five core job competencies ('Patient management', 'Health and safety', 'Operation of equipment', 'Procedures and management') and 17 sub - competencies. As a result of the factor analysis, the RMSEA value was 0.1 and the CFI, and TLI values were close to 0.9 in the measurement model of the five core job competencies. The validity analysis showed that the mean variance extraction was 0.5 or more and the conceptual reliability value was 0.7 or more, And there was a high correlation between subordinate competencies included in each subordinate competencies. The results of this study are expected to provide specific information necessary for the training and management of human resources centered on competence by clearly showing the job competence required for radiologists in Korea's health environment.

Participants were 136 nurses working at 1 university hospital and 9 general hospitals located in G metropolitan city. The data were collected between July 25 and August 7, 2014 using structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS version 21.0. The level of job stress, organizational commitment, and patient safety management activities was 3.76, 3.09, and 4.15, respectively, out of a 5-point scale. Patient safety management activities were significantly correlated with organizational commitment. The significant factors that influence patient safety management activities were organizational commitment and number of patient safety education, which explained 23% of patient safety management activities. In conclusion, organizational commitment and patient safety education have a positive effect on the improvement of patient safety management activities of operating room nurses. It is necessary to develop various intervention programs for operating room nurses to improve organizational commitment and should be reinforced via continuous, systematic patient safety education on patient safety management.

  • Based on the previous reports that majority of teachers have negative perceptions on food additives, a teacher training program called 'Let's teach food additives correctly' was developed and applied to improve teachers' unbalanced perception on food additives and let them teach students with sound scientific background. The 15-hours training program consisted of understanding of food safety and food additives, education materials on food additives, development of teaching-learning plan, meeting with professionals from Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), visiting MFDS labs, application to school class, and evaluation. A total of 63 teachers participated in the training through 2 sessions conducted in August 2016. As a result, teachers showed high satisfaction rates (4.2~4.5 in 5.0-Likert scale) and 91.5% answered the training helpful for the school class. Although their initial intention to participate the training was to know the details of negative intake effects of food additives, their such perception was totally changed in addition, they suggested a continuous training for teachers and immediate correction of incorrect information in school textbooks. Also, post-training education for 1,172 students by these teachers appeared to improve the understanding of and the native perceptions on food additives significantly (p < 0.001). Above results showed that the training program could solve the problem of transmitting unbalanced information on food additives to students by training teachers, and such channel could be used to facilitate food-related risk communication.
