  • Availability of pressuremeter test for evaluation of geotechnical properties of foundation soil into which guardrail post is to be installed is investigated in this study. First, an analysis method of the post based on the pressuremeter test is proposed that can obtain bending moment and load-deformation profiles of the post. Then static horizontal load test onto a small scale guardrail post is performed in order to get bearing capacity and load-deformation pattern of the model post. The obtained results are compared with the load-deformation curves and bearing capacity of the post obtained from the pressuremeter method. In addition horizontal impact test to the post is performed using a model bogie car in order to check failure pattern around the model foundation and to investigate dynamic bearing capacity due to deceleration and inertia force of the soil. It is verified that the pressuremeter test is so useful and reasonal technique to analyze road foundation-post interaction.

  • To verify the performance of roadside safety facilities, strength and occupant protection test are performed by evaluation criteria. Strength test use a truck and occupant protection test use a sedan. Strength perfomance is analyzed pass rate by post lateral resistance of the safety barrier. Occupant protection performance is analyzed from THIV(Theoretical Head Impact Velocity) and PHD(Post-impact Head Deceleration) by crash cushion test.

  • Recently, the number of road construction is increasing by industrial development. According to this industrial tendency, the number of traffic accidents are consistently increasing due to increasing number of vehicle on the road. This is mainly because traffic accidents are occurred by various parameter such as negligence of driver, vehicle defects, state of unstable road, natural environment etc. Lane department of vehicles from guardrail is occurring frequently. This type of accident is caused by vehicle performance improvement and shape of vehicle, weak guardrail installation and maintenance. Guardrail has the purpose on prevention such as prevention of traffic accident and prevention of deviating out of road, minimizing damage of driver and vehicle by collision as well as entry into the road through guardrail. Stability evaluation test of guardrail verifies the behavior of guardrail through the crash of truck. At this time, the crash condition has 100 km/h of velocity and $15^{\circ}$ of impact angle. In the case of ground condition, filling slope condition has relatively high bearing capacity of infinite ground towards the test. Guardrail is generally installed on road of shoulder in fill slope in korea. It is possible for stability problem to deteriorate ground bearing capacity in Guardrail in fill slope. The existed study towards stability of guardrail has been carried out in the infinite ground. However, the study on the behavior of fill slope with guardrail is not performed by vehicle collision. Therefore, In this study, the numerical analysis using LS-DYNA was executed for verification on behavior of fill slope with guardrail through vehicle collision. This numerical analysis was carried out with change of embedded depth on installed guardrail post in shoulder of fill slope by vehicle collision and 8 tonf truck crash providing at NCAN (National Crash Analysis Center). As the result, displacement and stress on fill slope are decreased in accordance with the increase of embedded depth of guardrail post. Ground bearing capacity is deteriorated at depth of 450 mm form shoulder of road on fill slope.

  • The apple rootstock M.26 (Malus pumila) is very popular apple rootstock with semi-dwarf habit and the trees on M.26 produce high quality fruit at a young age. Since it is prone to poor prop ability to soil, however, young trees require staking in windy locations. The rolC gene was introduced into M.26 by Agrobacterium tumefaciens LBA4404 harboring pBI121 to obtain its transformants with dwarfism and enhanced rooting ability. One regenerated transgenic line was confirmed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis and Southern blot analysis of genomic DNA for the existence of rolC gene. The characteristics of transgenic line in vitro were not significantly different from non-transgenic line except for the active root formation and lateral root number. The rolC transgenic line showed reduced stem length and increased root number in vitro. Rooting ability was examined in the isolated greenhouse after mound layering. Compared to non-transgenic M.26, rolC transgenic line showed significantly higher rooting ability. The transgenic line did not show any other observable variation in shoot phenotype compared with non-transgenic line excepting increased branching
