Hyper text transfer protocol (HTTP) over transmission control protocol (TCP) is currently used to transfer objects in the Internet. Stream control transmission protocol (SCTP), an alternative to TCP, which allows for independent delivery among streams, and can thus reduce the mean response delay of web object. We present an analytical model to find the mean response delay for HTTP over SCTP, therefore, estimate the effectiveness of SCTP over TCP. Typical TCP delay models assume the wired environment. On the contrary, the proposed model in this paper assumes the multiple packet losses and wireless environment where fast retransmission is not possible due to small window. The estimated mean response time can be used the benchmark to meet quality of service (QoS) at end-user. We validate the accuracy of our model using experiments. It is shown that the differences between the results from model and those from experimental are very small below 6 % on average. We also find that the mean response delay for HTTP over SCTP is less than that for HTTP over TCP.

This paper proposes a virtual mobile ad-hoc network (VMANET) model that automatically divides heterogeneous mobile devices of a MANET into a number of network groups depending on the communication capacity(data rate) of different network operational models such as IEEE 802.11g, IEEE 802.11b, and Frequency Hopping. In addition, it supports a distinct routing protocol for each network group of VMANETs, resulting in running multiple routing protocols concurrently on different groups of VMANETs. To reduce the network congestion and improve the network load balance, a default MANET gateway is configured in each VMANET and these gateways are responsible for integrating the MANET and IP networks. Experiment results show that the proposed model outperforms the conventional IMANET by significantly increasing throughput and reducing network congestion and network delay.

In this paper, we propose a generalized vector channel model for wireless communication systems using antenna arrays. The proposed channel model reflects path loss. spatial-temporal variation of shadowing, multipath fading , Doppler effect, spatial distribution of local scatterers and delay spread due to remote dominant scatterers. In addition, we use a discrete ray model in which respective ray signal experiences independent shadowing, fading and Doppler shift, and impinges on antenna arrays at a distinct angle. Based on the proposed mode. we derive the relations on the spatial and temporal correlations of the received signals and implement a spatial channel simulator. By comparing the theoretical values with the simulated ones, we verify the effectiveness of the implemented simulator. The simulator is then used to generate an arbitrary channel impulse response and to analyze the channel characteristics under various environments.

This study is aimed at looking into the PR method of cadastral re-survey, and at looking for the reason of the delay of cadastral re-survey project. We thought that the reason why the cadastral re-survey project was delayed was a lack of a national agreement on it owing to an insufficient PR. So, to solve this question, we proposed an alternative plan for the PR method of cadastral re-survey, using Hutton's PR model. As a result of a study, a total of 31 PR methods was made which were apt for every practical PR on the basis of 6 three-dimensional models of PR practice. But, some of Hutton's PR models proved to be unfit for the cadastral re-survey project. Therefore, we formed and proposed a new model to apt for the cadastral re-survey project. The result of this study is expected to be of help in getting a foundation to form a national agreement on the quick operation of a upcoming cadastral re-survey project.
Real-time control systems are growing rapidly as infrastructure technologies such as IoT and mobile communication develop and services that value real-time such as factory management and vehicle operation checks increase. Various solutions have been proposed to increase the time sensitivity of this system, but most real-time control systems are currently composed of local servers and multiple clients located in control stations, which are transmitted to local servers where control systems are located. In this paper, we proposed an edge computing-based real-time control model that can reduce the time it takes for the bus information system, one of the real-time control systems, to provide the information to the user at the time it collects the information. Simulating the existing model and the edge computing model, the edge computing model confirmed that the cost for users to receive data is reduced from at least 10% to up to 80% compared to the existing model.
A stochastic method using continuous time Markov process is presented to model the one-dimensional convective nuclide transport in geologic media, which have usually heterogeneous feature in physical/geochemical parameters such as velocity, dispersion coefficient, and retardation factor resulting poor description by conventional deterministic advection-dispersion model. The primary desired quantities from a stochastic model are the mean values and variance of the state variables as a function of time. The time-dependent probability distributions of nuclides are presented for each discretized compartment given the volumetric groundwater flux and the intensity of transition. Since this model is discrete in medium space, physical/geochemical parameters which affect nuclide transport can be easily incorporated for the heterogeneous media as well as remarkably layered media having spatially varied parameters. Even though the Markov process model developed in this study was shown to be sensitive to the number of discretized compartments showing numerical dispersion as the number of compartments are increased, this could be easily calibrated by comparing with the analytical deterministic model.

Recently, mathematical modeling for the activated sludge process is important to design and control of wastewater treatment plant. Nevertheless, there is a lack of information regarding the pathway of substrate utilization between external and internal substrates in biological nutrient removal (BNR). In this research, a new activated sludge model (step growth model) is proposed and compare with ASM No.3. This model structure is consist of five processes; aerobic storage, growth on external substrate and stored intercellular storage compounds (ISCs), endogenous respiration and aerobic respiration of ISCs. The predicted results by the step growth model were more good accordance with the results of oxygen utilization rate (OUR) and TCOD experiment than that of the ASM No.3.
Recommender systems provide users with the most favorable items by analyzing explicit or implicit feedback of users on items. Recently, as the size of deep-learning-based models employed in recommender systems has increased, many studies have focused on reducing inference time while maintaining high recommendation accuracy. As one of them, a study on recommender systems with a knowledge distillation (KD) technique is actively conducted. By KD, a small-sized model (i.e., student) is trained through knowledge extracted from a large-sized model (i.e., teacher), and then the trained student is used as a recommendation model. Existing studies on KD for recommender systems have been mainly performed only for implicit feedback settings. Thus, in this paper, we try to investigate the performance and accuracy when applied to explicit feedback settings. To this end, we leveraged a total of five state-of-the-art KD methods and three real-world datasets for recommender systems.

This paper suggests an extended memory polynomial model that improves accuracy in modeling memory effects of RF power amplifiers(PAs), and verifies effectiveness of the suggested method. The extended memory polynomial model includes cross-terms that are products of input terms that have different delay values to improve the limited accuracy of basic memory polynomial model that includes the diagonal terms of Volterra kernels. The complexity of the memoryless model, memory polynomial model, and the suggested model are compared. The extended memory polynomial model is represented with a matrix equation, and the Volterra kernels are extracted using least square method. In addition, the structure of digital predistorter and digital signal processing(DSP) algorithm based on the suggested model and indirect learning method are proposed to implement a digital predistortion linearization. To verify the suggested model, the predicted output of the model is compared with the measured output for a 10W GaN HEMT RF PA and 30 W LDMOS RF PA using 2.3 GHz WiBro input signal, and adjacent-channel power ratio(ACPR) performance with the proposed digital predistortion is measured. The proposed model increases model accuracy for the PAs, and improves the linearization performance by reducing ACPR.
