  • GPS proved to very practical in the application of geodesy and surveying such Civil Engineering, control point surveying and the deformation surveying o( structure, but the accuracy of static GPS positioning is degraded at the sites which the visible satellites of GPS are less than 4, i.e. the urban area covered with the high building and the industrial zone. Thus, the combined GPS/GLONASS system was introduced to acquire the high accuracy of static positioning by a few satellites. So the combined GPS/GLONASS system show the good results at the sites which the accuracy of positioning is degraded due to few satellites, the cutoff of signal, and multipath in the urban area.

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the precise height in mountainous areas of South Korea and Jiri mountain area was selected as a test bed for the study. Gravity observation and GNSS surveying were performed for 44 BM(Benchmark) points in the test bed and calculate the height and the height correction. In the calculation, the dynamic correction amount, the orthometric correction amount and the normal correction amount were calculated, and the dynamic height and orthometric height and the normal height were calculated considering each correction amount. The results showed that the difference between normal gravity and observed gravity and also the difference between orthometric correction and the normal correction. In addition, the results of the comparison of the present official BM height and the computed orthometric height in this study show that Korean height system should be shifted from the normal orthometric height system to the orthometric height system. Because the difference between the orthometric correction and the normal correction within the test bed indicated a distribution of at a minimum of -234.41 mm up to 196.925 mm, and the difference between the present official BM height and the calculated orthometric height were distributed from -0.121m to 0.011 m.

  • Crimes must be reduced not only because of the financial, physical, and emotional damages they bring to the victims but also because crimes increase social costs by elevating distrust in society and instilling fear. With the increasing number of crimes in Korea, finding other factors that affect the occurrence of crimes is needed beyond the current viewpoint for crime analysis. Social support factors can be candidates for studies on the social support effect on crime occurrence in their initial stage. In this study, we identified the effect of social support factors on crime occurrence or deterrence, none of which has been considered important until now, given the emergence of spatial econometrics. The resulting Moran's I values revealed the existence of a spatial autocorrelation in all three crimes: heinous crimes, theft, and violence. As shown in the analysis using spatial econometrics and ordinary least squares, social support from families is significant in reducing all crimes especially violence. Social support from the local government is significant in preventing only theft. The spatial econometrics model is only valid in heinous crimes. These different effects of social support factors and spatial factors on crime occurrences are caused by the different characteristics of crimes. Hence, policymakers should consider the social support effect when they establish policies related to social housing or welfare.

  • According to the Korean datum change to a world geodetic system, the EDM area should be readjusted to provide consistent product over the country. The data set for EDM area is extracted from the previous KTN1987 DB and checked for the moved markers in XY network adjustment which provides quality verification. Then, EDM data set for the seven areas are rebuilt for the adjustment. Since the data is still based on the old datum, the coordinates of the data are transformed by applying the coordinate transformation parameters. Here, the transformation parameters, which were determined for the conversion of 1:50,000 topographic maps by NGII, were used. For each EDM point, the geoidal height from EGM96 model is applied to obtain the ellipsoidal height based on the GRS80. The measured distance projected onto GRS80 is adjusted using BL network adjustment by fixing 2nd order or 3rd order GPS control points. The results from the readjustment show the minimum standard error of 1.37" and the maximum standard error of 2.13". Considering the measurement accuracy of EDM (1.6" corresponding to about 2cm) and GPS position for fixed points (2cm), this result is considered to be reasonable and it is good for the practical use.

  • The purpose of this study ahead of the aging society in Korea to prevent problems of the elderly aged new addiction Internet Addiction and identify factors affecting the quantitative increase and qualitative improvement beyond that aims to promote. To this end, residents in Seoul over the age of 60's targets, local welfare, cultural centers, senior centers and other research in the area through one-on-one interviews were conducted the survey. Findings The average degree of Internet addiction elderly 36.16 points (SD = 10.02) and the distribution of at least 20 points to 65 points, respectively. Factors affecting the degree of Internet addiction as a computer time (β = .248, p <.001), mon allowance (β = .180, p <.01), age (β = .139, p <.01) and social support (β = .087, p <.05), self-efficacy (β = - .078, p <.05), most used location (β = - .116, p <.05), degree of family relationship (β = - .147, p <.01), housing type (β = - .153, p <.01), were of the order, this factor was 17.6% of the variance. In other words, the more computer time, the higher the age, the more mon allowance, housing is not self, the lower the degree of family relationship, the house is not a place most used, lower self-efficacy, social support is high As increasing the degree of Internet addiction was thought to be the two predictor variables. Survey results to target the elderly through the Internet addiction group psychotherapy program implementation, and production and distribution of manuals related to Internet use and addiction-related factors, according to the case-by-case Case management services are tailored to be done, and the Internet in general for seniors potential risks related to use in training and preventive services for the elderly will need to be made.

  • The representation of point-observed environmental variables in Geographic Information Systems(GIS) has often been inadequate to meet the need of regional-scale ecological and environmental applications. To create a map of continuous surface that would represent more reliable spatial variations for these applications, I present three spatial estimation methods. Using a secondary variable of the proximity to coast line together with rainfall acidity data collected at the 63 acid rain monitoring stations in Korea, average rainfall acidity map was cteated using co-kriging. For comparison, two other commonly used interpolation methods (inverse distance weighting and kriging) were also applied to rainfall acidity data without reference to the secondary variable. These estimation methods were evaluated by both visual assessments of the output maps and the quantitative comparison of error measures that were obtained from cross validation. The co-kriging method produced a rainfall acidity map that showed noticeable improvement in repoducing the inherent spatial pattern as well as provided lower statistical error as compared to the methods using only the primary variable.

  • VDF(volume-delay function) is one of the most important factor to improve the reliability of traffic demand estimation because it is for estimation of link travel time based on the traffic volume variation. Because VDF of link except for freeway is applied as the parameter of BPR(bureau of public road) of U.S., it causes to deteriorate the accuracy of traffic demand estimation. The purpose of this paper is to establish new parameter of VDF based on the real-surveyed traffic data in order to improve the problem of the existing VDF. We suggest the reclassification of road hierarchy, the approach of traffic survey, the estimating method of VDF parameter, and the improvements of new VDF application. The new VDF allows us to estimate more realistic traffic situation in parts of demand, travel time and path between origin-destination.

  • In this paper, a study on facial movements are analyzed in terms of opposite emotion stimuli by image processing of Kinect facial image. To induce two opposite emotion pairs such as "Sad - Excitement"and "Contentment - Angry" which are oppositely positioned onto Russell's 2D emotion model, both visual and auditory stimuli are given to subjects. Firstly, 31 main points are chosen among 121 facial feature points of active appearance model obtained from Kinect Face Tracking SDK. Then, pixel changes around 31 main points are analyzed. In here, local minimum shift matching method is used in order to solve a problem of non-linear facial movement. At results, right and left side facial movements were occurred in cases of "Sad" and "Excitement" emotions, respectively. Left side facial movement was comparatively more occurred in case of "Contentment" emotion. In contrast, both left and right side movements were occurred in case of "Angry" emotion.

  • Palaeomagnesim of Paleozoic Tuwibong Type Sequence in Yemi area was studied with a total of 256 core-samples collected from 23 sites. The study area (geographical coordinates: 37.l8$^{\circ}$N, l28.610E) is located between Taebaek and Yongwol belonging to the northeastern part of the Okchon Belt. Thermal cleaning was a most effective method to extract stable characteristic remanent magnetization (ChRM) direction, even though AF cleaning also worked on some specimens. Mean ChRM direction of the Cambrian Hwajol Formation was different from the present-day field direction and showed maximum clustering (max. k value) at 100% bedding-tilt correction. However, it could not pass the fold test. Ordovician Makkol and Kosong Limestones as well as Permian Sadong and Kobangsan Formations have very weak NRM, and were remagnetized into the present-day field direction. ChRM directions from the Carboniferous Hongjom Formation passed both fold and reversal tests. IRM experiments and blocking temperature spectrum indicate that both magnetite and haematite are carrier of the primary magnetization. Palaeomagnetic pole position from the Carboniferous Hongjom Formation is very similar to that of contemporary North China Block (NCB) suggesting that the study area was a part of, or located very near to, the NCB during Carboniferous.
