This study was conducted to investigate the soil mulching effect on bolting and growth of Angelica koreana Max. The bolting ratio were 8.4% of non-mulching, 11.4% of black polyethylene film, 13.6% of transparent polyethylene film, 6.4% of rice-straw mulching. The mulching of polyethylene film induced higher bolting response than other materials. The radical leaf length, the number of leaf and crown in black P.E. film mulched were all higher than those of non-mulching and rice-straw mulching. The yield of the underground part of P.E film mulching was higher than non-mulching and rice-straw mulching. Comparing with other treatments, the dry root yield of black P.E. film mulching showed the most.
Rehabilitation of mining areas can reduce damage to ecosystems. However, the effects of rehabilitation on ecosystem services (ESs) and its contribution to local communities are not well known. Thus, the aims of this study were to clearly identify the ES beneficiaries affected by mining activities, to determine how the beneficiaries profit from surrounding areas in cooperation with local stakeholders, and to manage the rehabilitation areas for the ESs that the beneficiaries want. This study chose 18 ESs (4 provisioning, 7 regulating, 5 cultural, and 2 habitat services) based on The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity. A semi-structured questionnaire survey using an 11-point Likert scale was conducted among 87 community residents to investigate social awareness and identify key ESs. The survey results from two local communities showed high awareness and demands mainly on cultural (mental and physical health, aesthetic appreciation, and recreation) and regulating services (local climate and air quality, and moderation of extreme events). These services were related to the daily lives of residents in local communities, provided positive benefits, and potentially improved the residents' future livelihoods. However, the average questionnaire scores were limited to 6-7 points, indicating that the benefits to local communities were meager. The residents' awareness of provisioning service was negative, even if it provided goods and profit opportunities. This indicated a disconnection between local communities and provisioning services due to forest rehabilitation that did not consider local communities that traditionally relied on specific provisioning services before the onset of mining activities. Future forest rehabilitation in abandoned mine areas must consider the welfare of local communities for sustainable use of rehabilitated forests and enhancing ESs. In this study, only a qualitative evaluation based on frequency analyses was conducted. The quantification and valuation of key ESs are warranted in the future to promote ESs from forest rehabilitation in abandoned mine areas. The study results would be useful for developing site-specific ES promotion strategies for reforesting mine areas.

Cultural assets excavated in historical areas have their own characteristics based on the background of the times, and it can be seen that their patterns and characteristics change little by little according to the history and the flow of the spreading area. Cultural properties excavated in some areas represent the culture of the time and some maintain their intact appearance, but most of them are damaged/lost or divided into parts, and many experts are mobilized to research the composition and repair the damaged parts. The purpose of this research is to learn patterns and characteristics of the past through artificial intelligence neural networks for such restoration research, and to restore the lost parts of the excavated cultural assets based on Generative Adversarial Network(GAN)[1]. The research is a process in which the rest of the damaged/lost parts are restored based on some of the cultural assets excavated based on the GAN. To recover some parts of dammed of cultural asset, through training with the 2D image of a complete cultural asset. This research is focused on how much recovered not only damaged parts but also reproduce colors and materials. Finally, through adopted this trained neural network to real damaged cultural, confirmed area of recovered area and limitation.

Purpose: In Korea, the frequency and frequency of earthquakes are increasing every year. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the characteristics and examples of earthquakes in Korea and Japan, and to propose improvements to the earthquake prevention policy in Korea. Method: In this study, we investigate and evaluate Japan's response in two cases: the Kobe earthquake and the East Japan earthquake. After surveying and evaluating the nation's countermeasures in the two events, Gyeongju and Pohang, they were compared. Result: When comparing recovery systems in Korea and Japan, there were significant differences in plans for restoration of road transport networks, regional disaster prevention plans, and the introduction of Conclusion: considering the physical distance between Korea's earthquake-prone areas and the capital, the government should quickly come up with countermeasures to ensure that immediate earthquake response in the region is enhanced through the detailed establishment of the Functional Continuity Plan (COOP), and that administrative functions will function normally in the event of a disaster through the introduction of the administrative BCP concept.

This study is about the actual condition of forest devastation in North Korea and the cooperative plan between South and North Korea for the restoration. In other words, it aims to derive policy implications for 'forest restoration' from the phenomenon of severe forest devastation in North Korea. It is because forest devastation in North Korea causes floods, droughts, and soil losses on the Korean Peninsula, adding to food shortages, and assuming that the future unification of the two Koreas, the cost of forest restoration in North Korea will increase environmentally and economically. Therefore, this study derives policy implications by examining the causes and conditions of forest devastation in North Korea and comparing the differences and commonalities of forest policies in South and North Korea through analysis of forest policy strategies in North Korea.
In Ad Hoc Networks, a connection breaks due to the irregular movement of mobile nodes and the inherent characteristics of the wireless medium such as the interference and the multi-path fading. AODV, a typical on-demand routing protocol in Ad Hoc networks, uses the local repair mechanism to cope with the connection breaks. This paper proposes an efficient route maintenance scheme for AODV, named as AODV-ERM, by utilizing hello messages. The proposed AODV-ERM scheme can recover some link breaks efficiently without relying on the expensive local repair process, thereby reducing the repair time. To show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, we performed extensive simulation with NS2. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme can reduce the repair time effectively and thus, increase the overall packet delivery ratio.
