New Record of the Snake Mackerel, Gempylus serpens (Perciformes: Gempylidae) from Jeju Island, Korea (한국 제주도에서 채집된 갈치꼬치과(Gempylidae) 어류 1 미기록종, Gempylus serpens)

  • A single specimen (506 mm SL) of Gempylus serpens, belonging to the family Gempylidae, order Perciformes, was firstly collected from Jeju Island, Korea in April 2013. This specimen was characterized by having the lower jaw protruded than upper jaw; three big fangs on upper jaw; five dorsal finlets and seven anal finlets; two lateral lines split at the dorsal origin, upper line interrupted at the end of the first dorsal fin, but lower line extend to the caudal fin base. The new Korean name "Se-jang-gal-chi-ggo-chi-sok" is proposed for the genus Gempylus, and "Se-jang-gal-chi-ggo-chi" for the species G. serpens.

Estimation of the Three-dimensional Vegetation Landscape of the Donhwamun Gate Area in Changdeokgung Palace through the Rubber Sheeting Transformation of (<동궐도(東闕圖)>의 러버쉬팅변환을 통한 창덕궁 돈화문 지역의 입체적 식생 경관 추정)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze , which was made in the late Joseon Dynasty to specify the vegetation landscape of the Donhwamun Gate area in Changdeokgung Palace. The study results can be summarized as below. First, based on "Jieziyuan Huazhuan(芥子園畵傳)", the introductory book of tree expression delivered from China in the 17th century, allowed the classification criteria of the trees described in the picture to be established and helped identify their types. As a result of the classification, there were 10 species and 50 trees in the Donhwamun Gate area of . Second, it was possible to measure the real size of the trees described in the picture through the elevated drawing scale of . The height of the trees ranged from a minimum of 4.37 m to a maximum of 22.37 m. According to the measurement results, compared to the old trees currently living in Changdeokgung Palace, the trees described in the picture were found to be produced in almost actual size without exaggeration. Thus, the measured height of the trees turned out to be appropriate as baseline data for reproduction of the vegetation landscape. Third, through the Rubber Sheeting Transformation of , it was possible to make a ground plan for the planting of on the current digital topographic map. In particular, as the transformed area of was departmentalized and control points were added, the precision of transformation improved. It was possible to grasp the changed position of planting as well as the change in planting density through a ground plan of planting of . Lastly, it was possible to produce a three-dimensional vegetation landscape model by using the information of the shape of the trees and the ground plan for the planting of . Based on the three-dimensional model, it was easy to examine the characteristics of the three-dimensional view of the current vegetation via the view axis, skyline, and openness to and cover from the adjacent regions at the level of the eyes. This study is differentiated from others in that it verified the realism of and suggested the possibility of ascertaining the original form of the vegetation landscape described in the painting.

  • South Africa implemented apartheid from 1948 to 1994. The main content of this policy was to classify races such as whites, Indians, mixed-race people, and blacks, and to limit all social activities, including residence, personal property ownership, and economic activities, depending on the class. All races except white people were discriminated against and suppressed for having different skin colors. South African citizens resisted the government's indiscriminate violence, and public opinion criticizing them expanded beyond the local community to various parts of the world. One of the things that made this possible was photographs detailing the scene of the violence. Foreign journalists who captured popular oppression as well as photographers from South Africa were immersed in recording the lives of those who were marginalized and suffered on an individual level. If they had not been willing to inform the reality and did not actually record it as a photo, many people would not have known the horrors of the situation caused by racial discrimination. Therefore, this paper focuses on Rise and Fall of Apartheid: Photography and the Bureau of Everyday Life, which captures various aspects of apartheid and displays related records, and examines the aspects of racism committed in South Africa described in the photo. The exhibition covers the period from 1948 when apartheid began until 1995, when Nelson Mandela was elected president and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission was launched to correct the wrong view of history. Many of the photos on display were taken by Peter Magubane, Ian Berry, David Goldblatt, and Santu Mofoken, a collection of museums, art galleries and media, including various archives. The photographs on display are primarily the work of photographers. It is both a photographic work and a media that proves South Africa's past since the 1960s, but it has been mainly dealt with in the field of photography and art history rather than from a historical or archival point of view. However, the photos have characteristics as records, and the contextual information contained in them is characterized by being able to look back on history from various perspectives. Therefore, it is very important to expand in the previously studied area to examine the time from various perspectives and interpret it anew. The photographs presented in the exhibition prove and describe events and people that are not included in South Africa's official records. This is significant in that it incorporates socially marginalized people and events into historical gaps through ordinary people's memories and personal records, and is reproduced in various media to strengthen and spread the context of record production.

Value and Prosect of individual diary as research materials : Based on the "The 12th May Diaries Collection" (개인 일기의 연구 자료로서의 가치와 전망 "5월12일 일기컬렉션"을 중심으로)

  • "Archives of Everyday Life" refers to an organization or facility which collects, appraises, selects and preserves the document from the memory of individuals, groups, or a society through categorizing and classifying lives and cultures of ordinary people. The document includes materials such as diaries, autobiography, letters, and notes. It also covers any digital files or hypertext like posts from blogs and online communities, or photos uploaded on Social Network Services. Many research fields including the Records Management Studies has continuously claimed the necessity of collection and preservation of ordinary people's records on daily life produced every moment. Especially diary is a written record reflecting the facts experienced by an individual and his self-examination. Its originality, individuality and uniqueness are considered truly valuable as a document regardless of the era. Lately many diaries have been discovered and presented to the historical research communities, and diverse researchers in human and social studies have embarked more in-depth research on diaries, their authors, and social background of the time. Furthermore, researchers from linguistics, educational studies, and psychology analyze linguistic behaviors, status of cultural assimilation, and emotional or psychological changes of an author. In this study, we are conducting a metastudy from various research on diaries in order to reaffirm the value of "The 12th May Diaries Collection" as everyday life archives. "The 12th May Diaries Collection" consists of diaries produced and donated directly by citizens on the 12th May every year. It was only 2013 when Digital Archiving Institute in Univ. of Myungji organized the first "Annual call for the 12th May". Now more than 2,000 items were collected including hand writing diaries, digital documents, photos, audio and video files, etc. The age of participants also varies from children to senior citizens. In this study, quantitative analysis will be made on the diaries collected as well as more profound discoveries on the detailed contents of each item. It is not difficult to see stories about family and friends, school life, concerns over career path, daily life and feelings of citizens ranging all different generations, regions, and professions. Based on keyword and descriptors of each item, more comprehensive examination will be further made. Additionally this study will also provide suggestions to examine future research opportunities of these diaries for different fields such as linguistics, educational studies, historical studies or humanities considering diverse formats and contents of diaries. Finally this study will also discuss necessary tasks and challenges for "the 12th May Diaries Collection" to be continuously collected and preserved as Everyday Life Archives.

국내 광산업체 2006년 현황 및 2007년 전망

  • 2006년 국내 광산업시장은 전 세계적인 초고속인터넷망 및 FTTH 관련 서비스 확충에 따라 광통신 부품 업체의 호황과 아울러 휴대폰 부품시장, 반도체 광원(LED)분야의 전체적인 수출 및 내수시장규모가 증가한 것으로 조사됐다. 그러나 해외 원자재 구매 증가로 인해 수입 비율이 증가하고 반면 수출은 엔화, 달러 환율의 지속적인 하락에 영향을 받아 마이너스 성장한 분야도 있는 것으로 파악되었다. 광산업클러스터가 구성된 광주의 지역내 총생산은 2003년을 기준으로 하여 15조 7,229억 원으로 전국 비중은 2.2%를 차지하고 있을 정도로 열악하고 재정자립도도 6개 광역시 중에서 하위를 기록하고 있었으며 취업자 기준 산업구조도 서비스업이 80%정도를 차지할 정도로 구조적인 취약점을 안고 있었다. 이와 같은 광주경제의 어려운 상황을 근본적으로 타개하기 위하여 광주광역시가 21세기 최대의 유망산업인 광산업 육성 계획을 수립해 제시한 결과, 중앙정부 차원에서 광산업 육성 및 집적화 계획 1단계 사업(2000년~2003년)이 성공적으로 마무리 되고 현재는 2단계 사업(2004년~2008년)이 추진 중이다. 따라서 현시점에서 광산업 육성 성과를 판단할 수 있는 지표로 광주지역에 소재하고 있는 광산업체의 증가수와 매출액 등에 대하여 한국광산업진흥회에서 2006년 12월에 전수조사 하였다.

A Determination of Magnitude and Frequency of River Floods (하천 홍수량의 크기 및 빈도 결정)

  • In this study, six gaging stations(T/M bureau) in the Han River basin were selected for flood frequency analysis and was carried out frequency analysis by POT(peaks Over a Threshold) model where existing flood data of short record length are available. Frequency and magnitudes of each station floods in the river basins were estimated by POT model based on statistical method, and also were compared with standard errors to verify applicability of the estimates by POT model. Furthermore, in order to evaluate for the adequate design flood which is needed for the design of the hydrologic structures in the ungaged watersheds, it is considered to be possible to develop the statistical regionalized model by regional frequency analysis.

A Composite Fault-plane Solution of Microearthquakes in the Yangsan Fault Area during 1996 (1996년 양산단층 일대의 미소지진을 이용한 복합단층면해)

  • From the seismic network data of the Korea Institute of Geology, Mining & Materials during 1995-1996, we derived a composite fault-plane solution of the microearthquakes occurred in the Yangsan fault area. The composite fault-plane solution of nine events shows the orientation of fault 15 ± 3°in strike, 60 ± 8°in dip and 140°in rake or 128 ± 3°in strike, 56 ± 8°in dip and 37°in rake. The compressional axis of the stress field trends ENE to WSW, and this field suggests strike-slip motion with thrust component. The result is consistent with the 1996 Yeong-weol event and the stress field in and around the Korean Peninsula, previously reported.

An Estimation of the Peak Flood Discharges Based on the Mean Daily Discharges during a Flood Event (홍수사상별 일평균유량 자료로부터의 참두홍수량 산정)

  • In the present study the methods proposed by Fuller and Sangal were evaluated to estimate the peak flood discharge based on the mean daily discharges during a flood period. The total of 198 flood events observed at seven stage gauging stations in the Han River basin were analyzed. The result showed that the peak flood discharges estimated based on the mean daily flows have a relatively high correlation with the observed peak floods. Hence, a regionalized relation and method is proposed for a possible application to estimate the peak flood discharges at the stage gauging stations with no hourly flood stage data, but with the mean daily stages.

원격탐지된 위성영상의 밴드조합에 의한 최적 영상 결정기법 연구

  • 원격탐지된 디지털 영상은 각 밴드별로 다른 특성의 정보를 기록하고 있음으로 밴드별 조합에 의한 칼라영상 생성시 전혀 다른 특성만을 이용하게 되므로 활용목적에 맞게 최적의 영상을 얻기 위한 밴드조합이 매우 중요한 과정이 될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 약 20년 전에 댐의 건설로 물속으로 사라진 약 60여개의 마을을 원격탐사기법으로 복원하기 위하여 현재 그 지역의 과거 자료를 획득할 수 없으므로, 원격탐지 방법으로 수집 가능한 과거의 자료를 현재의 측지좌표 공간으로 보정처리하고 채널간의 생성되는 영상을 비교함으로서 최적의 솔루션을 찾아내는 실함을 실시하였다. 과거지도와 참조지도와 좌표변환을 통하여 정위치의 중첩오차를 최소화시키고, 영상 복원 시 손실정보를 최소화하기 위한 최적채널결정을 밴드조합 방법으로 하여 그 특징과 결과를 도출하였다.

Construction of A Remote-Controlling Observation System and Its Test Operation

  • 국립고흥청소년우주체험센터는 2014년 11월에 1,040mm의 반사망원경을 도입할 예정이다. 그 사전 준비로 천체관측소 10m돔에 150mm 굴절망원경과 1K CCD카메라를 설치하고, 이를 통합 제어할 원격관측시스템을 구축하였다. 원격으로 제어가 가능한 이 시스템은, 망원경 구동부, CCD, 돔을 제어할 수 있는 소프트웨어, 각 기기를 원격에서 조정 작동할 수 있는 장비, 기상과 하늘의 실시간 상황 및 망원경의 상태를 확인 할 수 있는 원격 모니터링 카메라 등으로 구성되어 있다. 구축 이후 M67 산개성단과 SA98 표준성 영역을 원격으로 관측하였다. 이를 통해, 관측시에 발생할 수 있는 문제점과 장애요인을 분석하여 보완 개선하였고, 시범관측으로 확보한 자료를 활용하여 관측환경을 정량화하는 중이다. 최우선 과제는 센터가 위치한 내나로도 지역의 시상정보를 검증하고 축적하는 일이다. 센터는 천체관측소에 시상 관측기 설치하여 자료를 축적하고 있다. 이 정보의 신뢰성을 확보하기 위해 150mm 굴절망원경으로 얻어진 시상정보와 비교 검증하고자 한다. 또한 이 과정에서 센터 천체관측소에 구축된 망원경으로 관측 가능한 한계등급을 얻을 수 있었고, 표준계 변환작업을 통해 1차와 2차 소광계수를 구해 보았다. 추가적으로 관측 가능한 일수를 지속적으로 기록하여, 계절별, 월별 관측 가능일 수를 조사할 예정이다.
