  • This study is for analyzing the relation between Korean Water transport and the other main countries Water transport. In the Free trade system, Maritime transport has a high impact on the global economy as well as the each countries. The division of labor through the global value chain(GVCs) has became the ordinary activity in business, and in Maritime shipping,, there are the International trade among countries. Therefore, This study analyze relation of Korean water transport and other 13 regions using World Input-Output Table(WIOT) by Asia Development Bank(ADB). The result of analysis, the proportion of intermediate goods in the input structure of Korean water transport is about 70%, and the ratio of using domestic products is higher than the major European countries. However, since 2000, intermediate inputs from foreign countries have steadily increased, and added value has decreased. Countries with a high relation with Korean Water transport industry are United States(USA) on the input structure, Singapore(SIN) and Japan(JPN) on the distribution structure. Analyzing the relation through the production inducement coefficient, Singapore(SIN) has the high relationship with Korean Water transport industry.

  • This study aims to analyze the convergence change of smart city industries in Korea. Industries of Smart city can be defined ICTs and Knowledge embedded construction industry. The input output model and structural path analysis have been done using the input output tables published by Bank of Korea in 1980 and 2014. GDP deflator was applied to the input output tables. 403 industries were reclassified into 27 industries and 8 industries categories: Agriculture and Mining(AM), Non-IT Manufacture(NITM), IT Manufacture(ITM), Energy Supply(EnS), Construction as smart city(C), IT Service(ITS), Knowledge Service(KS), Etc. Service(EtS). The results are as follows; First, the input output coefficient analysis showed that The information and communication service industry(ITS) and the energy supply industry(EnS) have increased input to the construction industry(C). On the other hands, knowledge service industry(KS) and etc. service industries(EtS) decreased. Second, the multiplier analysis revealed that construction industry(C) led by smart city had a great influence on ITS, EnS, ITM and NITM directly and indirectly. Furthermore, The IT industry had the biggest change from 1980 to 2014. Third, the smart city industry has created a new convergence of 117, and it has been leading to segmentation of the structure. Change of convergence has been proceeding mainly in the ITS and EnS, NITM, ITM industries.

  • The Korean logistics industry has grown with the development of domestic industries. The industry plays an important role in national and regional economic growth, and the government has continued policy efforts to foster the industry. This study analyzes the competitiveness of the regional logistics industry and its contribution to the regional economy. Location coefficients are used to analyze local specialization in each logistics industry. The value-added rate, GDP contribution, value-added induction coefficient, and net value-added income of regional logistics industries are analyzed using a regional input-output table. As a result, the logistics industry is found to have net value-added income and competitiveness in some regions, and there is no relationship between the location coefficient and the value-added contribution of the regional logistics industry. Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, Busan, and Jeju have the competitiveness of each logistics industry. In addition, we identified the regions where the logistics infrastructure is well developed and those in which it needs to be supported. The regions where the logistics industry has developed require policies for making high value-added by logistics activity, and regions with insufficient growth need to support the development of the logistics industry by investing human resources and capital that can meet the local demand.

  • The evaluation of aid effectiveness at the national level has mostly focused on qualitative evaluation. This paper attempts to quantitatively evaluate EDCF 's support for Vietnam in 1995 ~ 2016 on the economy. First, we compare the strengths and weaknesses of various methodologies that can be used for quantitative assessment: panel analysis based on growth theory, input-output analysis, social account matrix analysis, CGE model, DSGE model, and time series analysis. Using the input-output analysis, we estimate that total output and value added have been generated about $5.9 billion and $1.7 billion in Vietnam, respectively. The increase in income per capita from the support was estimated to have contributed to a 0.21%p reduction in the poverty rate in Vietnam.

  • Input-output(I-O) analysis is now widely used to examine the economic impact of tourism. The study aims to demonstrate the impact of agri-tourism development project on local development in terms of income and employment. Based on the I-O transactions tables developed by Bank of Korea (2011), rural tourism related sectoral multipliers were derived with respect to output, income, employment, and value-added tax. The results of the I-O model indicate that in 2011, rural tourism development generated 1,387 billion Won of output impact, 287 billion Won of income impact, 275 billion Won of value-added impact, and 41,127 full-time jobs, respectively throughout direct, indirect, and induced effects. In particular, the restaurant sector had relative higher output and employment multipliers as compared to other industries, whereas they had lower multipliers of income and value-added than any other industries. The findings imply that the restaurant sector was relatively labor-intensive industry, generating high impact of employment effects.

  • This study aims to examine the ripple effect of the '119 Integrated Information System' for city disaster management on the local economy. The study was conducted in the area of Gyeongnam province, and the study method is the interdependence analysis based on the Input Coefficient drawn from Input-Output Tables in which Intermediary Transaction Tables drawn through RAS was taken advantage of to grasp the correlation among industries and regions in terms of the local economy, and the ripple effect of the changes of political exogenous variables on the local economy was divided to such elements as production, added value, and employment so as to attempt empirical analysis on the local economy system. To estimate the ripple effect on the local economy, three different amounts of the expected input were applied to the study respectively and the results are as follows: Some $28.7{\sim}42.4$ billion won for the production induction effect, some $7.5{\sim}11.4$ billion won for the added-value induction effect, some $103{\sim}157$ job openings for the employment induction effect, and some $3.8{\sim}5.7$ billion won for the income induction effect are expected to take place as the ripple effect on the local economy.

  • The regional industry promotion system, which seeks to link the characteristics and resources of the region to its core strategic industry, is spreading the industrial resources in the form of an organic network. The Seosan-Daesan Port is the only port in the Chungcheong provinces that is equipped with international passenger dock and terminal, and it will soon have a ferry service operating to the Longyan port in Rongcheng, China in 2018. The study focuses on effects of the first international ferry operation in the provinces that are being realized with the aim of developing the regional industry. The study also analyzes the ripple effects on the tourism and port industries in the provinces by tapping into the 2013 regional inter-industry table. The analysis shows that the scheduled ferry operation will generate 47,815 million won in production and 23,423 million won in added value for the region's tourism industry. It will also generate total revenue of 12,567 million won for the port industry driven by the locally handled freight containers and the added value. Currently, the Korea-China ferry operation in other regions exhibits greater dependence on the cargo than the passengers. Thus, for the international ferry operation to and from Seosan, generating maximum employment in tourism from the passengers of the international ferry operation will require strategic marketing to attract tourists. At the same time, a steady supply of cargo needs to be sustained by maintaining a balance between import and export cargoes. Furthermore, greater efforts should be made to create more sea routes than other regions or to increase voyages for the purpose of generating more added value.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the process of vertical fragmentation of regional industries in Korea using Revealed Comparative Advantage index (RCA) and Average Propagation Length (APL). First of all, the competitiveness in regional export and substitution of regional imports were strong in the Electricity, Gas, and Water supply sector in Gyeongnam, and consumer-oriented Manufacturing sector in Incheon, Gyeongnam, and Gwangju. The high values of the APL were also found in the regions with common similarity with respect to the industrial structure and the sectors with indirect effects. In addition, the industrial sectors with high quality of infrastructure, and endowed services tended to be located in the beginning of the production chain. FInally, since manufacturing and service sectors in Seoul has higher APL, they could lead the growth of other related industries as key sectors, in the production fragmentation.
