This study analyzes the economic impact of the shipping and port logistics industry in Gwangyang Bay Area on the regional economy. For this purpose, the study constructs an input-output table of 29 sectors for 2010 in the area. The main findings are as follows. In terms of production, value added, and share of employment, the regional shipping and port logistics industry accounts for approximately 10.8 percent, 6.0 percent, and 2.9 percent of the national shipping and port logistics industry, respectively. Moreover, the economic impact of the industry on the regional economy is estimated to be an increase in terms of production of about 6 trillion Korean won), to be an increase in value added of about 2.5 million Korean won, and an increase of about 16,000 in employment. Furthermore, the industry is found to have strong inter-industry linkages with the main manufacturing as well as the main producer service industries.

There have been several research methodologies to measure the impacts of tourism development on the regional economy, which include input-output analysis, income multiplier analysis, labor creation effect analysis, etc. Most of these are based on regional economic indices using secondary data for medium to large regional units. This study tests the possibility of adopting tourist money now analysis, which encompasses a series of money flows beginning with tourists'payment for room, board and shopping, followed by tourist companies'expenditure for material and service purchase, wage, utilities, rent, tax and so forth, and by tourism workers'expenses for living and savings. This method makes it possible to reveal the amount and geographical extent of tourist money flow and draws some meaningful regional economic figures. Case studies of three torist developing areas show that it is utilized for impact studies for small scale areas.

Input-output(I-O) analysis is now widely used to examine the economic impact of tourism. The study aims to demonstrate the impact of agri-tourism development project on local development in terms of income and employment. Based on the I-O transactions tables developed by Bank of Korea (2011), rural tourism related sectoral multipliers were derived with respect to output, income, employment, and value-added tax. The results of the I-O model indicate that in 2011, rural tourism development generated 1,387 billion Won of output impact, 287 billion Won of income impact, 275 billion Won of value-added impact, and 41,127 full-time jobs, respectively throughout direct, indirect, and induced effects. In particular, the restaurant sector had relative higher output and employment multipliers as compared to other industries, whereas they had lower multipliers of income and value-added than any other industries. The findings imply that the restaurant sector was relatively labor-intensive industry, generating high impact of employment effects.

In the glocalization a common phenomenon of several nations reveals knowledge innovation and growth by the important subject of region and state and is studied at theory and practice. the successful cases of regional development in an advanced country have leading innovation through regional innovation system and cluster. therefore we are necessary to analyse how the knowledge spillovers in innovative cluster as the reduced model of regional innovation system guide firm innovation and region growth. this article reviews theories and empirical studies of the knowledge spillovers in the regional innovation system and innovative cluster of innovative geography and proposes a new research issues for further explorations of the knowledge spillovers. Previous studies assist that knowledge spillovers exist in knowledge-based industries of specific local area and local innovation accomplishes through pure knowledge spillover. but limits of these studies include narrow region and technological area, few analytical variable and exclusion of rent knowledge spillover. therefore new research topics related with that exemplifies geographical dimension(concentration and decentralization), technological dimension(knowledge based industry), category of analytic variables(previous indicators, time, and social capital), conceptualization(appropriation means, markets for technology) etc.

This study has an objective to analyze economic impact of building game industrial complex in Incheon. There are few studies about economic impact of game industry, despites of the high expectations for game industry development as important cultural content in the regional economy. Therefore, this study gives value as an intuitive analysis in terms of understanding the game industry. Regional input-output analysis was conducted based on construction sector, game related manufacturing and game related service sector in case of fulfilling establishment of game industrial complex in the Incheon Free Economic Zone. From results of this study, we find out the importance of game industry's effects on both regional and national level and it is expected a big impact on the future direction of related studies.

This study is to investigate the expenditure patterns that was generated by visitors who attended The Korean Music Wave Festival and analyze economic impact derived from that event. The target is the foreign visitors who attended '2011 Incheon Korean Music Wave'. Total of 407 questionnaires were collected. The collected data were analyzed to produce spending patterns using Tobit models. Also, tourism multipliers were employed to identify the economic impact. This results show that expenditure determinants such as demographic variables and satisfaction as independent variables are significant in estimating visitors' expenditures. Also, In addition economic impact derived from direct spending was substantially over committed cost. Accordingly, this result can contribute to providing basic information for marketing strategy that generates the economic effect on the destination. Moreover, the result can be utilized when establishing the strategy that can maximize the economic impact based on the spending patterns.

The purpose of this study was to estimate the economic impact of the 23 sport-events in the city of Sokcho using an input-output(I-O) model. The multipliers of the sport-events were derived with respect to output, value added, personal income, indirect tax, and employment. The survey was conducted to estimate the total expenditures from participants (players, staffs, and spectators) (N = 1,026). In results, the lifetime sport-events were much more efficient than the elite sport-events in qualitative perspectives. Consequently, the result of this study can be used as an objective indicator to help to establish sport policies for the city of Sokcho.

This study estimated the regional economic effects by development of the logistics complex in Incheon New Port, applying the regional Input-Output tables in Incheon. And thereby, we tried to find some strategic implications on the priority to induce more effective industries for activated operation of the logistics complex in ports. According to the results, development of Incheon New Port will generate 2,579 billion KRWs(2.2 billion USDs) of production and 1,783 KRWs(1.5 billion USDs) of value-added annually. And we expect it to induce 38.8 thousand jobs, which is over the national average on the input-output table. By the business type, port logistics industry will contribute to develop regional economy more than any other ones in Incheon. We suggest business firms in port logistics industry to be induced to the logistics complex in Incheon New Port strategically. Until now, development of the logistics complex in Incheon New Port are planned to be postponed to 2015 when construction of the berth facilities, the access sea routes and the hinterland highways are completed. We suggest to invest more public fund, to induce the private capital, and then, to develop the logistics complex in Incheon New Port earlier in an appropriate scale.

지역개발과 지역의 지속가능한 발전전략의 수립을 위해 지역의 환경적, 사회적, 경제적 특성을 통합한 지속가능발전 모델을 구축하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 본 논문은 지속가능발전 전략의 모색과 관련정책의 파급효과를 측정하기 위하여 이러한 통합모델의 개발과 적용을 목적으로 한다. 이러한 목적에 따라 높은 환경질을 유지하고 대나무와 같은 생태자원을 육성함으로써 생태관광과 대나무신산업 등의 새로운 지역개발 정책을 수행하는 전라남도 담양군을 대상으로 지속가능발전 체계동태모형을 구축한다. 담양군 사례분석의 결과는 죽림육성 정책과 대나무신산업과 같은 지역특화산업에 대한 기술개발 및 각종 재원의 병행이 인구유입과 지역경제의 활성화에 매우 효과적임을 제시하고 있다. 결론적으로 본 논문에서는 지역의 지속가능성에 관한 시스템적 사고를 통해 지역개발에 있어서 지역의 환경적 특성을 살린 생태자원의 육성과 적절한 산업정책을 병행하는 생태발전 전략이 지역의 지속가능발전에 있어서 매우 중요한 수단이 될 수 있음을 제시하고 있다.
