  • In a program that runs an engineering education certification, program outcomes refer to the knowledge, skills, and attitudes a student must have until graduation. In general, capstone design is used as a tool for evaluating program outcomes. This paper applies the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) to measure the raters' reliability in assessing program outcomes. Several raters evaluate program outcomes, and the result is used to obtain the raters' ICC. ICC measures the reliability of ratings or measurements for clusters - data that has been collected as groups or sorted into groups. If the ICC is close to 1, it means that the reliability among the raters is high. We evaluated the proposed method's usefulness through case analysis. As a method for assessing an evaluation tool's objectivity, multiple raters measure the same evaluation tool. As a result, we measured the ICC values for all POs, and analyzed the cause for the low measured POs. We applied this method to evaluate program outcomes of the Department of Computer Engineering in the past two years. As a result, we derived guidelines for improvement and program outcomes.

  • The aim of this study was to determine the level of knowledge related to disease in patients with atrial fibrillation. We used the Jessa Atrial fibrillation Knowledge Questionnaire (JAKQ) and Knowledge of Atrial Fibrillation and Stroke Prevention Questionnaire(KAFSP). A total of 222 AF patients completed the JAKQ and KAFSP. The mean score of the JAKQ and KAFSP 54.7 and 18.5 points, respectively. In general, patients with Atrial fibrillation were well aware that atrial fibrillation causes stroke and that anticoagulants should be taken to prevent blood clots. However, they were not well aware of the precautions for taking anticoagulants, symptoms of atrial fibrillation, and treatment of atrial fibrillation. There was no statistically significant difference in atrial fibrillation knowledge score according to anticoagulants but the degree of knowledge related to VKA was low in patients taking VKA. The both score of JAKQ and KAFSP had significant differences in atrial fibrillation knowledge depending on the level of education. Based on these finding, it is necessary to develop a customized education program in order to improve the knowledge of patients with atrial fibrillation.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop, field test an instrument to assess secondary school students' conceptions of the nature of science. The instrument named Philosophical Perspectives Probe(PPP) is a pool of 24 multiple-choice items that address a wide range of philosophical topics of science. The statements and the choices of this instrument were derived from an analysis of various philosophical positions. The main philosophical systems of the instrument are inductivism, falsificationism, and relativism, respectively. Major distinctions depend on the issues of the criteria of demarcation, patterns of scienctific change, epistemological status of scientific knowledge, and the scientific methods. The researchers also offer teachers a new way of assessing and interpreting their students' conceptions on a wide variety of topics related to the nature of science.

  • E-learning has become an ever-increasing delivery method in school and workplace. Many Web sites provide Internet users with lots of information and resources on study, research, and career development in workplace. First, this study aimed at presenting a process of validating instruments to measure perception of using the Web for learning. Secondly, this paper attempted to find out a list of critical constructs that university students recognize when they access Web sites to get some resources on their fields of study. This study also suggested the features of those constructs. This paper would help improve our understanding of Web usage for schoolwork and research. This result of the paper will facilitate further understanding of constructs associated with Web usage in other areas, thereby enabling researchers, practitioners, and policy makers to draw much attention to e-learning.

  • This study develops a framework and instruments to diagnose the current knowledge management(KM) status of an organization and to suggest future KM implementation directions. Based on the comprehensive review of KM literature and KM case studies, we derive three main aspects(strategic, social and technical aspect) and seven critical factors(KM strategy, knowledge worker, organizational strucuture, organizational culture, KM processe, organizational knowledge, and information technology) for the successful KM implementation. The instruments developed in this study include every specific measurement items of each critical success factor, which are expected to help not only suggest a context-sensitive KM strategy but also evaluate current KM status of a designated organization. By introducing two dimensions of KM evaluation(effectiveness and necessity), a more holistic and contingent view of KM can be assured. Academic contributions as well as practical implications are discussed. Study limitations and future research directions are also provided.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a measuring tool for the health promotion behavior of Korean nurses. This would address the lack of a proven tool that reflects the nature of the nurses' nursing environment. This study was conducted on 530 nurses from January to December 2019. A literature review and focus group interview were conducted, data analysis was carried out to measure validity and reliability, and the conceptual framework was constructed by applying the IMB model. Five factors namely self-concept (2 questions), hospital life management (4 questions), knowledge and information regarding health (5 questions), physical and mental stress management (3 questions), and work adaptation (2 questions) were framed into 16 questions. The model fit was 346.23 (<.001), Parsimonious Normed Fit Index (PNFI) was 0.60, and Parsimonious Comparative Fit Index (PCFI) was 0.63, which met the acceptance criteria, and the Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) was 0.10. Goodness of Fit Index (GFI) was 0.88, Comparative Fit Index (CFI) was 0.85, and Incremental Fit Index (IFI) was 0.85 which were found to be acceptable as per the applicable standards. All items had a Cronbach's score of .85, which ensured stable reliability. The nurse's health promotion behavior measurement tool developed in this study will be used to measure the nurse's health promotion behavior in terms of nursing practice which will help in understanding the broad contours of this behavior.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a valid and reliable evaluating instrument for elementary school fifth and sixth graders. The instrument is developed through R&D procedure, which includes two checks of science specialist and two field trials of the instrument. Evaluating items are content-free for each science inquiry skill. Each science inquiry element is based on SAPA and the 7th curriculum. This study has selected 10 science inquiry skills(observing, classifying, measuring, predicting, inferring, recognizing of a problem, controlling variables, interpreting data, drawing a conclusion, designing an experiment), formulated a clear definition of the elements of science inquiry skills, and established the objectives of evaluation. The content areas are divided into three categories, material and energy, life and environment, and the earth and circulation. Each category contains 10 items. So the instrument consists of 30 items. The content validity of items, objectivity of the scoring keys, and clarity of the items has been checked twice by specialists in science education. At the same time, two field trials were performed to produce the reliability of the instruments, discrimination index, and item difficulty index. The instrument has the content validity is 91.6%, reliability 0.79, objectivity 93.3%, discrimination index 0.30, and item difficulty index 66.1%.
