A Study on the Instructional Model utilizing Scratch for Introductory Programming Classes of SW-Major Students (SW전공자 프로그래밍 입문 수업의 스크래치 활용 수업 모형 연구)

  • The programming language is a core education area of software that is becoming increasingly important in the age of the fourth industrial revolution, but it requires mathematical knowledge and logical thinking skills, so that many local private university and college students with low basic skills are having difficulties learning it. This problem occasionally causes SW-major students to lose interest and confidence in their majors during the introductory course of programming languages; making them change their majors, or give up their studies. In this study, we designed an instructional model using Scratch for educating C-language which is a typical programming introductory language. To do this, we analyzed the concepts that can be trained by Scratch among the programming concepts supported by C-language, and developed the examples of Scratch for exercising the concepts. In addition, we designed an instructional model, by which the programming concepts are first learned through Scratch and then C-language is taught, and conducted an experiment on the SW-major freshman students of a local private university to verify the effectiveness of the model. In the situation where SW education is becoming common, we expect that this study will help programming language education of security IT students.

The Lived Experiences of Supported Housing among People with Psychiatric Disabilities (정신장애인의 체험홈 이용경험에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate in depth the lived experiences of utilizing supported housing among people with psychiatric disabilities. Phenomenological approach was used for this study. A total of 9 people with psychiatric disabilities were recruited as research participants. Data was collected through in-depth interviews from September, 2016 to March, 2018. Transcribed data from audio recordings on interviews were analyzed using the Colaizzi method. 6 clustered themes consisting of 17 sub-themes emerged through the qualitative data analysis and they include the following: 1) Confusion at site daily residence; 2) Feeling relaxed in supported housing site; 3) Development in self-perception; 4) Undertaking a leading role; 5) Growing capacity for independent living; and 6) Integration into normal life. Study findings suggest that expanding supported housing and improving its quality for people with psychiatric disabilities are needed. Additionally, the field of mental health needs an increase in the number of case managers with expertise in dealing with people suffering from psychiatric disabilities and their recovery.

  • 최근 지식정보 사회는 IT가 핵심 구성요소인 스마트 사회로 변모하고 있으며, 인간과 사물 간 의사소통에서 사물과 사물 간 의사소통까지 확장하고, IT간 융합에서 나아가 타 산업과 융합하는 지능형 사회로 나아가고 있다. '공간'에 대한 정보는 '시간'과 함께 인간이 생활하는데 있어 반드시 알아야 하는 가장 근본적인 정보로써, 공간에서 발생하는 정보를 기반으로 다른 사람들과 소통을 하고 목적을 충족함으로써 삶의 질을 향상시킨다. 현대 사회에서 공간정보는 중요한 인프라 가치를 증대시키므로 새로운 사회 패러다임 전환을 위한 필수적인 요소라 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 수재해 정보 플랫폼 구현에 앞서 사용자의 니즈를 만족시키고 효용가치 증대가 가능하도록 공간정보서비스 활용 방안 연구를 하고자 한다. 공간정보는 시대의 흐름에 따라 형태 및 생산?활용방법이 달라졌으나 항상 중요한 정보로 인식되어 왔으며, 미래 공간정보는 단순 콘텐츠 영역을 뛰어넘어 상황(Context)정보까지 범위를 확장하였다. (1)미국의 공간정보는 시설, 기록관리 및 지도와 같은 공공분야에서 현재는 업무통합관리, 의사결정지원 등에서 데이터 웨어하우스(Data Warehouse)로서의 역할 담당한다. (2)일본은 아시아 최고의 원천기술력을 보유하고 있으며, 높은 수준의 GIS, RS(위성항측), ITS(지능형 교통 시스템) 기술을 기반으로 하고 있다. (3)영국은 지리정보시스템과 공공서비스를 접목하여 시민의 요구에 부응하는 고객맞춤형서비스 제공을 국가정보화의 우선과제로 선정하고 있다. (4)우리나라는 초고속통신망과 모바일 기술 등 세계 최고 수준의 인프라를 확보하고 있어, 이러한 인프라 기반융 복합 공간정보서비스를 이용하는데 안정적인 기반을 확보하고 있다. 본 연구는 국내외 공간정보서비스의 패러다임 변화 및 추진 동향 등을 제시하였으며, 수재해정보 플랫폼 활용에 능동적 적극적으로 접근할 수 있는 기반을 마련하였다. 공간정보서비스를 활용하여 커뮤니케이션 강화, 수재해 정보 서비스의 효율성 증진, 재해부문 선진화 측면에서 발전적 영향을 미칠 수 있으며, 특히 각종 현안에 대한 미래 예측 및 대응에 기여할 것으로 판단된다.

  • This research is to analyze the public cases of information facilities in terms of central circulations in multi level volumes such as atrium or court which provide visual intervention between different spaces and physical connections such as bridges. Hunt Library design balances the understood pre-existing needs with the University's emerging needs to create a forward-thinking learning environment. While clearly a contemporary structure within a traditional context of the NCSU campus, the Hunt Library provides a positive platform for influencing its surroundings. Both technical and programmatic innovations are celebrated as part of the learning experience and provide a versatile and stimulating environment for students. Public library as open spaces connecting to an interactive social domain over communities can provide variety of learning environments, or technology based labs. There are many cases of the public information spaces with dynamic networks where participants can play their roles in physical space as well as in the intellectual stimulation. In the research, new public projects provide typologies of information spaces with user oriented media. The research is to address a creative transition between the reading space and the experimental links of the integration of state-of-the-art technology is highly visible in the building's design. The user-friendly browsing system that replaces the traditional browsing with the virtual shelves classified and archived by their form, is to reduce the storage space of the public library and it is to allow more space for collaborative learning. In addition to the intelligent robot of information storages, innovative features is the large-scale visualization space that supports team experiments to carry out collaborative online works and therefore the public library's various programs is to provide visitors with more efficient participatory environment.

Educational Contents for Concepts and Algorithms of Artificial Intelligence

  • This study is to design and to develop the educational contents to enhance artificial intelligence literacy. First, we designed artificial intelligence education contents and constructed education programs. The contents are composed of a total of 15 lectures in 8 AI domains. The contents contain the elements of knowledge-skill-attitude, and 5 learning steps. The developed contents were organized in the form of online materials and included simulations and worksheets to directly manipulate and explore the concepts and algorithms of AI. In addition, we provided evaluation questions for each content. To examine the suitability of content, we conducted a validity test for experts. As a result of the content validity test, the overall average was .71 or higher, and the CVI value of the class suitability was .82, indicating a high validity. We are expected to use the contents developed in this study as an effective program to improve AI literacy in university liberal arts education.

Effects of Simulation Program using Immersive Virtual Reality: Meta-analysis (몰입형 가상현실 시뮬레이션 프로그램의 효과: 메타분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of simulation program using virtual reality (VR). Examination of databases resulted in identification of 1,415 studies of which 3 satisfied the inclusion data. Data analysis was performed using R version 4.0.2 to calculate the effect sizes, explore possible causes of heterogeneity, and check for publication bias, using a funnel plot. The mean effect size of the simulation program was medium (g=0.35), along with the skill performance (g=0.59), satisfaction (g=0.38), knowledge (g=0.21). Finally a funnel plot was produced to check for publication bias, but no significant bias was detected. Based on these findings, the simulation program using VR affects nursing education.

A Systematic Review of the Virtual Reality Program for Dementia Education (치매교육을 위한 가상현실 프로그램에 대한 체계적 고찰)

  • This study is a systematic review study to confirm the characteristics, effects, and application strategies of domestic and foreign virtual reality programs provided by dementia education. This study is based on the literature published up to July 2020, CINAHL, Cochrane, EMBASE, and Pubmed electronic databases were used overseas, and RISS, KISS, and DBpia were searched in Korea. Based on the selection criteria and exclusion criteria, the final six papers were used for analysis. As a result of the analysis, the subjects of the selected literature were two informal caregivers (33.3%), one general (16.7%), and three students (50.0%) including nursing students and medical and pharmacy students. The virtual reality program was effective in a total of five areas(empathy ability, dementia attitude including knowledge and comfort of dementia, trust in own abilities, dyadic relationship scale), of which 75% of the studies measured empathy ability had significant effects. The results of this study confirm that virtual reality technology can be used for human-centered nursing based on empathy.

Exploring the Independent Application of Elementary Information Education through Analysis of Digital Literacy in Elementary School Textbooks (초등 교과서의 디지털 리터러시 현황 분석을 통한 초등 정보 교과 독립 적용 탐구)

  • With the development of technology, the concept of digital literacy is expanding from the focus of function and tool utilization to the extent of communication and participation in social and cultural contexts. In particular, learners' digital literacy capabilities are more important and necessary in remote learning environments such as Corona19. In this study, we studied how to improve digital literacy education through analysis and inspection of digital literacy shown in elementary school textbooks. To this end, we analyze it through compliance consisting of 8 fundamental pieces of knowledge, 20 sub technical skills, and 10 keys of competencies that constitute digital literacy. As a result of the study, the contents of digital literacy education in elementary school textbooks were presented centered on functions and tools, and as they were biased in certain areas, they were found to be lacking in systematicity and connectivity. Therefore, it proposed the composition of the curriculum system of digital literacy through the independence of elementary informatics curriculum, the specific composition of curriculum, and the strengthening of pre-service teachers' practical skills.

Development of the Contents of AI Convergence Education Method Subjects and Verification of Teaching Efficacy Effectiveness for Elementary and Secondary Teachers

  • In this paper, the needs and environment of the 'AI Convergence Education Method' were analyzed for elementary and secondary teachers, and based on this, teaching efficacy of informatics education was verified. For the research, elementary and secondary teachers who take the subject were selected, and based on the results of analyzing the general characteristics, pre-knowledge level, and needs of the subject, curriculum for 15 weeks was developed. As a result of verifying the teaching efficacy effectiveness of the developed 'AI Convergence Education Method' subject for 15 weeks, the effectiveness of the information education teaching efficacy was verified. Among the factors, there were statistically significant differences in information teaching values and information teaching strategies. In the future, it is necessary to conduct follow-up research to secure teachers' professionalism, such as linking with schools and convergence with other subjects. Various teaching and learning materials and teaching and learning methods such as educational contents and materials, reference literature, and artificial intelligence education platforms need to be prepared.

Development of SW-STEAM Education Program Using Monte Carlo Simulation: Focusing on Mendelian Inheritance (몬테카를로 시뮬레이션을 활용한 SW융합교육 프로그램 개발: 멘델의 유전 원리를 중심으로)

  • As the era of digital transformation begins in earnest, the importance of convergent thinking based on software, artificial intelligence, and big data is increasing. In line with these social needs, this study developed a 5th hour SW-STEAM education program using Monte Carlo simulation techniques for Mendelian inheritance in the field of life science. By programming and implementing Mendelian inheritance using Monte carlo simulation, the program was organized so that not only convergent thinking skills but also related knowledge could be understood in depth. In order to verify the validity of the developed education program, 11 experts in related fields were requested to test the content validity, and the validity was verified by meeting the CVR reference value of 0.59 suggested by Lawshe.
