Analysis of the Wind Pressure Coefficient Characteristic of Livestock Shed Roof Surface according to the Opening of Side Walls (측벽 개방유무에 따른 축사지붕면의 풍압계수 특성분석)

  • Livestock buildings are rural facilities as vulnerable to natural disasters as vinyl houses. Many of livestock buildings have a roof but without side walls. The roof of such structures is easily blown away by a typhoon and this results in a heavy loss. Therefore, farmers install winch curtains on the sides to prevent damages caused by typhoons. This study purposed to examine the distribution of wind pressure coefficient among different positions of livestock shed roof according to the opening of side walls. It was found that according to the distribution of peak external pressure coefficient on the roof surface of livestock shed, the wind blowing at wind angle $0^{\circ}$ was disadvantageous to roof surface regardless of the presence of side walls. However, it was confirmed that the peak external pressure coefficient was affected by wind angle and the length of eave depending on the presence of side walls.

Automatic Extraction of Roof Components from LiDAR Data Based on Octree Segmentation (LiDAR 데이터를 이용한 옥트리 분할 기반의 지붕요소 자동추출)

  • The 3D building modeling is one of crucial components in building 3D geospatial information. The existing methods for 3D building modeling depend mainly on manual photogrammetric processes by stereoplotter compiler, which indeed take great amount of time and efforts. In addition, some automatic methods that were proposed in research papers and experimental trials have limitations of describing the details of buildings with lack of geometric accuracy. It is essential in automatic fashion that the boundary and shape of buildings should be drawn effortlessly by a sophisticated algorithm. In recent years, airborne LiDAR data representing earth surface in 3D has been utilized in many different fields. However, it is still in technical difficulties for clean and correct boundary extraction without human intervention. The usage of airborne LiDAR data will be much feasible to reconstruct the roof tops of buildings whose boundary lines could be taken out from existing digital maps. The paper proposed a method to reconstruct the roof tops of buildings using airborne LiDAR data with building boundary lines from digital map. The primary process is to perform octree-based segmentation to airborne LiDAR data recursively in 3D space till there are no more airborne LiDAR points to be segmented. Once the octree-based segmentation has been completed, each segmented patch is thereafter merged based on geometric spatial characteristics. The experimental results showed that the proposed method were capable of extracting various building roof components such as plane, gable, polyhedric and curved surface.

  • This study is an evaluation of the water-tightness properties of rain-block systems in the sliding-roof joint of large-span membrane structures. In this study, we suggested a method of evaluating the water-tightness performance of the joint part of a sliding door in the roof of a large-span membrane structure (for a pilot project), in an environment of rain and wind. The shape of the rainwater blocking systems of the joint part in a sliding door verifies the defects and the effects of water leakage prevention when there is precipitation with wind conditions. To secure the water-tightness of large span membrane structures, it is necessary to have a guideline on the evaluation of the design for rain-block system of the joint part, and the quality of the membrane material, both of a retractable roof and a closed roof.

  • 전민동 성당은 얕은 팔각뿔대 형상의 지붕을 가진 팔각기둥의 형태로 재설계되었다. 팔각기둥의 형상은 마주보는 4쌍의 벽들로 인하여 공간에서 정상파가 발생하기 쉽고, 지붕 또한 둥근 형태로 음향 초점이 발생할 수 있는 등 여러가지 문제점을 가지고 있다. 이러한 형태의 전민동 성당에 대하여 여러 가지 음향 인자들을 예측하였고, 예측치와 측정치를 비교하였다. 사용된 음장해석 프로그램은 $CATT^{TM}$이고 예측 또는 측정된 음향인자는 RT, D50, C80 등이다. 건축물만의 특성과 전기음향설비가 포함된 음향특성을 비교하기 위하여, 무지향성 스피커를 이용한 측정과 성당에 장착된 전기음향장치를 이용한 측정을 수행하였다. 공연장과 마찬가지로 성당의 신도석에서도 음이 고르게 분포되는 것이 바람직하며, 신도석에서의 음압분포를 예측과 측정을 통하여 비교하여 보았다.

Analysis of the Characteristics of Peak External Pressure Coefficient Working on Roof Surface according to the Shape and Layout of Green Houses (비닐하우스의 형태와 배치에 따른 지붕면 피크외압계수 특성분석)

  • Among the protected horticulture facilities in Korea, 99.2% are pipe-framed green houses and most of them are structurally vulnerable single-span type green houses. This study examined peak external pressure coefficient for the roof surface of a green house group composed of single-span and a multiple-span green houses. According to the results of the experiment, the distribution of peak external pressure coefficient was around 30% higher in the single-span greenhouse than in the multi-span ones. The external pressure coefficient for the roof surface of the vinyl house group was, in all of the three vinyl houses, was around 20%-30% higher than that for single-span greenhouses.

  • Generally, the envelope of a freeform building is composed of a structure made with rectangular or C-shaped steel pipe, and steel or aluminum panel finishes on the structure. However, these construction methods increase material loss and cost and time. There are also numerous cases of misunderstanding of design and difficulties in construction, which frequently cause construction errors. Such construction errors decrease construction productivity, resulting in poor construction quality and the need for rework, as well as cost and time overruns. To solve the problem, this study proposes a 3D coordinate control technology for freeform structure implemented through a CNC(Computerized Numerical Control) Twisted tube method, and by extension, develops a BIM-based envelope construction method for freeform building.

  • Research on developing algorithms for building modeling such as extracting outlines of the buildings and segmenting patches of the roofs using aerial images or LiDAR data are active. However, utilizing information from the building model is not well implemented yet. This study aims to propose a scheme for search identical or similar shape of buildings by utilizing graph topology pattern matching under the assumptions: (1) Buildings were modeled beforehand using imagery or LiDAR data, or (2) 3D building data from digital maps are available. Side walls, segmented roofs and footprints were represented as nodes, and relationships among the nodes were defined using graph topology. Topology graph database was generated and pattern matching was performed with buildings of various shapes. The results show that efficiency of the proposed method in terms of reliability of matching and database structure. In addition, flexibility in the search was achieved by altering conditions for the pattern matching. Furthermore, topology graph representation could be used as scale and rotation invariant shape descriptor.

  • This study proposes an automatic method to generate 3D building models using a draft map, which is an intermediate product generated during the map generation process based on aerial photos. The proposed method is to generate a terrain model, roof models, and wall models sequentially from the limited 3D information extracted from an existing draft map. Based on the planar fitting error of the roof corner points, the roof model is generated as a single planar facet or a multiple planar structure. The first type is derived using a robust estimation method while the second type is constructed through segmentation and merging based on a triangular irregular network. Each edge of this roof model is then projected to the terrain model to create a wall facet. The experimental results from its application to real data indicates that the building models of various shapes in wide areas are successfully generated. The proposed method is evaluated to be an cost and time effective method since it utilizes the existing data.
