  • Recently, interest in autonomous driving has drawn attention to autonomous cooperative driving, which considers the development of driving technology of autonomous vehicles and the development of infrastructure that constitutes a driving environment. According to the concept of autonomous cooperative driving, This study analyzes the new infrastructure for autonomous driving that can complement the information of existing precise road maps and adding HD map layer as the new infrastructure. The new infrastructure for autonomous driving presented two types of improved facilities and one type of sensor only facility. Analysis of HD maps shows that information such as junction points rarely changes, but it is expected that infrastructure for autonomous driving can be added to convey the meaning of paying attention to obstacles that may arise at the junction. In this way, the new infrastructure for autonomous driving needs to support the roles of guidance, instruction, and attention that existing road facilities.

  • In general, Top Of Atmosphere(TOA) brightness temperature is closely related to air temperature. Brightness temperature can be derived from the Thermal Infra-Red Sensors (TIRS) of the earth observation satellites such as the Landsat series. The TIRS instrument of the Landsat-8 satellite collects the two spectral bands (Bands 10 and 11) that measure brightness temperature. In this research, the relationship between the air temperature data measured by the weather stations in Seoul, South Korea and the brightness temperature data separately derived from Bands 10 and 11 of the Landsat-8 satellite were assessed in the different seasons through the correlation analysis. The statistical results led to the following conclusions. First, brightness temperature is closely related to air temperature in order of Spring, Autumn, Winter and Summer. Second, when air temperature increases, brightness temperature also increases in Spring, Autumn and Winter but decreases in Summer. Third, Band 10 has a closer relationship to air temperature than Band 11.

  • In smart cities, data from various kinds of sensors are collected and processed to provide smart services to the citizens. Noise information services with noise maps using the collected sensor data from various kinds of ubiquitous sensor networks is one of them. This paper presents a research result which generates three dimensional (3D) noise maps in real-time for smart cities. To make a noise map, we have to converge many informal data which include big image data of geographical Information and massive sensor data. Making such a 3D noise map in real-time requires the processing of the stream data from the ubiquitous sensor networks in real-time and the convergence operation in real-time. They are very challenging works. We developed our own methodology for real-time distributed and parallel processing for it and present it in this paper. Further, we developed our own real-time 3D noise map generation system, with the methodology. The system uses open source softwares for it. Here in this paper, we do introduce one of our systems which uses Apache Storm. We did performance evaluation using the developed system. Cloud computing was used for the performance evaluation experiments. It was confirmed that our system was working properly with good performance and the system can produce the 3D noise maps in real-time. The performance evaluation results are given in this paper, as well.

  • Recent improvements of satellite remote sensing sensors which are represented by hyperspectral imaging sensors and high spatial resolution sensors provide a large amount of data, typically several hundred megabytes per one scene. Moreover, increasing information exchange via internet and information super-highway requires the developments of more active service systems for processing and analysing of remote sensing data in order to provide value-added products. In this sense, an advanced satellite data processing system is being developed to achive high performance in computing speed and efficieney in processing a huge volume of data, and to make possible network computing and easy improving, upgrading and managing of systems. JAVA internet programming language provides several advantages for developing software such as object-oriented programming, multi-threading and robust memory managent. Using these features, a satellite data processing system named as GeoPixel has been developing using JAVA language. The GeoPixel adopted newly developed techniques including object-pipe connect method between each process and multi-threading structure. In other words, this system has characteristics such as independent operating platform and efficient data processing by handling a huge volume of remote sensing data with robustness. In the evaluation of data processing capability, the satisfactory results were shown in utilizing computer resources(CPU and Memory) and processing speeds.

  • In order to promptly respond to disasters, the era of new spaces has opened where satellite images with various characteristics can be used. As the number of satellites in operation at home and abroad increases and the characteristics of satellite sensors vary, it is necessary to find satellite images optimized for disaster types. Disaster types were divided into typhoons, heavy rains, droughts, forest fires, etc., and the optimal satellite images were selected for each type of disaster considering satellite orbits, active/passive sensors, spatial resolution, wavelength bands, and revisit cycles. Each satellite orbit TLE (Two Line Element) information was applied to the SGP4 (Simplified General Perturbations version 4) model to develop a satellite orbit simulation algorithm. The developed algorithm simulated the satellite orbit at 10-second intervals and selected an accurate observation area by considering the angle of incidence of each sensor. The satellite orbit simulation algorithm was applied to the case of Typhoon Mitag in 2019 and compared with the actual satellite list. Through the analyzed results, the time and area of the captured image and the image to be recorded were analyzed within a few seconds to select the optimal satellite image according to the type of disaster. In the future, it is intended to serve as a basis for building a system that can promptly request and secure satellite images in the event of a disaster.

  • Autonomous driving vehicles recognize the surroundings through various sensors mounted on the vehicle and control the vehicle based on the collected information. The level of autonomous driving technology is improving due to the development of sensor technology and algorithms that process collected data, but the implementation of perfect autonomous driving technology has not been achieved. To overcome these limitations, through autonomous cooperative driving centered on infrastructure. In this study, developed a position correction sign that provides a reference for positioning of autonomous vehicles. First of all, an analysis was performed on the current status of positioning technology for autonomous driving. And measure the number of point clouds for the 1st sample consisting of two square reflective surfaces and 2nd sample that increased the vertical length of each reflective surface. Experimental results show that both primary and secondary products are installed at least 15 m apart It could be recognized as a sensor, and it was confirmed that the secondary production that increased the length of the top and bottom had a higher number of point clouds than the primary production and better expressed the shape of the facility.

  • New humidity-sensitive monomer, N-methacryloyl-N'-ethyl-N'-propyl piperazinium bromide (MANEPPB) was prepared by the quaternization reaction of N-methacryloyl-N'-ethyl piperazine (MANEP) with 1-bromopropane. Polyelectrolytes derived from the copolymers composed of MANEPPB/MMN/AA=60/35/5, 70/25/5, 80/15/5, 90/5/5 and 95/0/5 were prepared for the humidity-sensitive membranes, which were fabricated on the gold electrode by dipping method and were crosslinked by reacting copolymers with aziridine crosslinker, trimethylolpropane tris(2-methyl-1-aziridinopropionate) (TTAP). When the resistance dependences on the relative humidity of the sensors were measured, it was found that the resistance varied three orders of magnitude between 20 and 90%RH, which was satisfied with the requirement for the common humidity sensor operating at ambient humidity. Their hysteresis, temperature dependence, frequency dependence, response and recovery time and water durability were measured and evaluated as a humidity-sensing membrane.

  • In this paper, we analyze the feasibility of establishing a precise sensor model for high-resolution satellite imagery using unified control points. For this purpose, we integrated unified control points and the aerial orthoimages from the national land information map (http://map.ngii.go.kr/ms/map/NlipMap.do) operated by the National Geographic Information Institute (NGII). Then, we collected the image coordinates corresponding to the unified control point's location in the satellite image. The unified control points were used as observation data for establishing a precise sensor model. For the experiment, we compared the results of precise sensor modeling using GNSS survey data and those using unified control points. Our experimental results showed that it is possible to establish a precise sensor model with around 2 m accuracy when using unified control points.

  • Average annual NDVI values from the NOAA/NASA Pathfinder AVHRR Land Data Sets from 1982 to 1994 showed comprehensive systematic displacement patterns in Asia. Inter-annual growing season data, however, did not show such systematic patterns. The most likely cause for the abrupt displacements, which appear especially in 1982, 1989 and 1990, may be changes in satellite sensors, although global warming, El Ni$\tilde{n}$o-Southern Oscillation events, changes in processing algorithms, and changes in land-use patterns in various parts of Asia may also play some role. The results suggest that researchers must be extremely careful in their inter-annual global change research, since direct use of the raw data could cause unexpected results. Growing-season NDVI shows decreases throughout most of Southeast Asia and modest gains in northern China and some parts in India, which could be related to land-use and land-cover changes.

  • This paper describes an algorithm for the correction of major radiometric errors shown in MEIS (Multi-spectral Earth Imaging System) images on board KITSAT-3. MEIS images contain various radiometric errors as also shown in the images obtained from other remote sensing sensors. This paper introduces the two major radiometric error sources shown in MEIS images and the corresponding correction algorithm. The proposed algorithm was integrated to an operational preprocessing software and validated by applying the algorithm to several tens of MEIS images. This algorithm will therefore applied operationally to raw MEIS images before they are distributed to users.
