Tourist Photography as Representation and Performance: Focused on Rubber Duck Project Seoul (재현과 수행으로서의 관광객 사진: '러버덕 프로젝트 서울'을 중심으로)

  • Seokchon Lake, and the area surrounding it, have become symbolic with an environment of 'peace', 'delight', 'happiness', and 'healing' due to the large floating yellow rubber duck which sits within the lake. There exists, however, a hidden intention of a large corporation who wishes to make benefit of this installation and its healing properties. Nevertheless, the lake has become a hot destination for people to come and see the rubber duck and take romantic photos with it. The photographs taken and shared further expand the popularity and romantic environment of the duck and lake. This process is a perfectly hermeneutic circle. Self or group mediation through photographic performances with the rubber duck has allowed the lake to take on new meaning to visitors. For families taking photos together it has become a place of family bonding and love while for couples of any age it has been transformed into a place to express their love through pictures together with the duck. Even for selfie generation it has become a destination and muse. Tourists are not merely written upon, but are also enacting and inscribing places with their own stories. Therefore, photographic performances produce rather than consume and reflect geography of Seokchon lake.

Formulating the Landscape Preference Model Using a Mixed Conditional Logit (조건부 로짓함수를 이용한 경관선호 모델: 지리산 국립공원 방문자를 대상으로)

  • The purpose of this study lies in formulating the landscape preference model using a conditional logit that involves the effect of visual elements as well as landscape itself on landscape preferences. To measure landscape preferences, a photo-questionnaire composed of paired photographs of the Cairngorms National Park of Scotland and the Jirisan National Park of Korea was distributed to visitors to the Jirisan National Park of Korea. Visual elements of landscape quantitatively measured by photogrammetry were reduced to orthogonal principal components that were subsequently used as explanatory variables in a conditional logit. As a result, the mixed conditional logit including the effect of landscape itself satisfied the Independence of Irrelevant Alternatives (IIA) property and showed reliable goodness of fit (${\rho}^2=0.25$). It was concluded that the mixed conditional logit including the effect of landscape itself was appropriate for landscape preference model rather than usual conditional logit excluding the effect.

  • This study is quantitative landscape resources evaluation using Google panoramio geotagged photo collections. Panoramio geotagged photos are including the location information and time information. That is the valuation of the landscape resources and time series analysis allows. And Seasonal changes in preference for a particular landscape can be identified. This study used data from the general public has been produced by the Web 2.0 environment. So, the proposed method in this study will be complement the method using surveys and expert.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 온라인과 오프라인 공간에 다양하게 존재하는 지리 관련 학습 자료를 매쉬업하여 지리교육사이트를 구현해 봄으로써 지도를 기반으로 한 지리교육용 웹 사이트 구축 가능성을 모색하는 데 있다. 그동안 교육 분야에서 API를 활용한 대부분의 연구가 사이트 구현을 제안하는 단계에 머무르고 있었다. 그러나 본 연구에서는 교과서 분석을 통하여 지리교육과 관련된 사진, 영상, 개념도, 모식도 등 다양한 자료를 매쉬업해 봄으로써, 정보 제공 방식의 변화를 추구하고, 직접 구현하여 API를 활용한 지리교육사이트의 구현 가능성을 제시한 것에 의의가 있다.

  • This study demonstrates the experiment based on digital photogrammetric processing for acquiring data related to slope monitoring. To apply dose-range digital photos for monitoring road rock slopes, digital elevation models and digital orthophotos were generated and 3D modelling was conducted for the visualization on a digital photogrammetric workstation. These digital photogrammetric products can be utilized as objective and scientific data not only for surveying and analyzing the shape and characteristics of the slopes but also for extracting various engineering data for building the database of the slopes and making the safety diagnosis of the slopes.

  • Tree height is information that is used as a parameter for variety of tasks related to forests. Specifically, customized topics related to forests such as afforestation map are also used for production. In order to calculate tree height information, a field survey or drawing was using aerial photographs. However, there is a problem that is costing a lot of time and money. Therefore, it was suggested to calculate tree height using aerial photographs taken every two years. Thus, the method for calculating tree heights was validated by unmanned aerial photogrammetry, and tree heights were calculated using outputs generated by unmanned aerial photogrammetry applied to the unmanned aerial photograph and Aerial photograph DB. The comparison of calculated tree heights shows that the measures proposed in this study are efficient. and We expect to improve the usability of aerial photographs DB.

  • 점점 더 많은 디지털 카메라와 휴대폰이 고해상도 카메라가 장착되고 대용량의 저장공간이 제공되면서 사용자들의 사진촬영 빈도가 증대하고 있다. 조만간 휴대폰의 저장된 사진을 효과적으로 관리하고 브라우징할 수 있는 기술이 필요한 시기가 올 것이다. 본 논문은 휴대폰이나 디지털 카메라 혹은 카메라가 장착되어 사진을 찍을 수 있는 모든 형태의 휴대단말에서 촬영된 개인사진을 지리적 위치정보를 이용하여 자동으로 분류하는 시스템을 제시한다. 기존의 시간정보를 이용하여 촬영시간의 근접성을 이용해 순차적으로 자동 분류하는 시스템과는 달리 위치정보를 이용하여 촬영위치에 따라 비순차적으로 자동 분류한다. 촬영위치 근접성을 결정하기 위해 밀도기반 클러스터링 알고리즘을 사용하여 전체 사진을 대분류하고 기존의 자동사진 분류방식에서는 다루지 않았던 일상사진과 비일상사진을 분류하고, 대분류된 사진을 시간정보를 이용하여 소분류 함으로서 자동 사진분류 성능을 높이고자 한다.

  • This study has made photographing respectively by changing the converging angle by use of d7 $metric^5$ that is a measurement digital camera. And also in order to minimize the errors happened at the relative orientation, we have sorted out the round target that the relative orientation is automatically on the programming and have calculated RMSE by carrying out the bundle adjustment. We think that such a study could be used as very important basic data necessary in deriving the optimal photographic conditions by the close-range digital photogrammetry and in judging such a degree.

  • This study presents the application of multi-temporal and multi-scale panchromatic aerial photos for change detection in a small urban area. For aerial photos of the scale of 1:20,000 taken in 1987 and 1996 and the scale of 1:37,500 taken in 2000. Pre-processing that make the same conditions to all of the aerial photos was carried out through geometric correction, registration, contrasting, resamplimg, and mosaicking and then change detection were carried out respectively by image differencing and image ratio techniques. As a result, the change of urban features and landcover were able to be detected from panchromatic aerial photos that is single-band images and then the detected change results were compared between both techniques.
