Update and Revision of Digital Map in Digital Photogrammetric Workstation (수치사진측량시스템 환경에서의 수치지도의 수정 및 갱신)

  • Recently, the digital map of national basemap has been made through NGIS(National Geographic Information System) project in Korea. The digital map should have to be corrected or updated to cope with the changes in topography in future. For that, the efficient method correspond with digital map should be presented. Digital photogrammetric system has been considered as an efficient method for digital mapping because it provides the results in digital form, but the system if not fully tested because the commercial system is in early stage. This study aims to present the way to correct or update digital map using the digital photogrammetric system. Digital mapping in the environment of digitalphotogrammetric system was executed and the results were analyzed and compared with those from analytical plotter.

  • This study provides a improved model of digital basemap production that can efficiently identify and correct the various errors generated in digital map production process. In order to fulfill the requirements that the new model calls for, this study provides a typology of errors by analyzing the errors in digital basemap data. Computer programs for automatic error searching and for checking the correctness of the digital codes in the data have also been developed. Exsiting visual error-checking process has also been analyzed and more systematic process is suggested. As a result, it is found that the improved model of digital basemap production suggested in this study contributes to improving the quality of the digital map database by providing a systematic method for efficient error-searching and correction of digital map data.

  • This paper is concentrated on map generalization in digital environment for automated multi-scale map pro-duction using conventional hardcopy maps. Line generalization is urgently required process to prepare small scale digital map database when large scale map databases are available. This paper outlines a new approach to the line generalization when preparing small scale map on the basis of existing large scale distal map. Line generalizations are conducted based on zero-crossing algorithm using six sheets of 115,000 scale YEOSU area which produced by National Geographic Institute. The results are compared to Douglas-Peucker algorithm and manual method. The study gives full details of the data reduction rates and alternatives based on the proposed algorithm.

  • National Geography Institute(NGI, National mapping agency) has been producing national basemap in automated process since middle of 1980's toward the systematic and efficient management of national land. In 1995, Korean government initiated a full-scale implementation of the National Geographic Information System(NGIS) Development Plan. Under the NGIS Development Plan, NGI began to produce digital maps in the scales of 1:1,000, 1:5,000, 1:25,000. However, digital maps of 1:250,000 scale, which are currently used for national land planning, were not included in NCIS Development Plan. Also, the existing laws and specifications related to digital maps of 1:250,000 scale are not clearly defined. It is fully appreciated that data dictionary will be a key element for users and generators of digital maps to rectify the existing problems in digital maps as well as to maximize the application of digital maps. There(ore this study proposed a feature classification system, which defines features that should be represented in digital map of 1:250,000 scale, and data dictionary as well.

  • Maps need the suitable map projection according to the scale of its seeing that the distortion is increasing between the projected geodesic line on the map and the ellipsoidal line owing to the scale up. In this paper, the optimum map projection for the large scale mapping as well as analysis of current mapping in Korea is proposed.

  • 소축척지도제작을 위한 자동화 처리 과정에서는 기하학적 및 논리적 오류가 발생하고, 기하학적 오류는 많은 부분에서 자동화 처리가 가능하나 논리적 오류는 여러 가지 경우에 대하여 자동 판단이 곤란한 경우가 많기 때문에 대부분 수작업으로 이루어지고 있는 실정이다. 따라서, 본 연구는 수치지도를 이용한 일반화 처리 후의 지형도 제작시에서 나타나는 여러 가지 문제 중 도로과장화로 인한 오류문제를 해결하기 위하여 도로와 건물 폴리곤간의 겹침위치를 자동 탐색하고, 이를 자동처리하기 위한 프로그램을 유전자 알고리즘을 이용하여 개발하였다. 그 결과 지도제작 과정에서 발생하는 오류를 해결할 수 있었고, 지도제작 자동화율을 향상시킬 수 있었다.

  • Being widely used for preparation of geographic maps in the field of earth sciences, Generic Mapping Tools (GMT) is difficult to understand the contents for user, and not working well with Microsoft (MS) Window PC. By utilizing R package, 'GEOmap', we can do mapping work at MS window PC with commands easier than those of GMT. In addition, the R commands offer interactive help. Here we introduce brief feature of 'GEOmap', and illustrate the procedure for preparing tomographic maps with an example.

  • 본 연구에서는 범용 CAD 시스템에서 정사영상을 이용한 지도제작 가능성 판단을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이를 위해 대전시 일부 지역에 대한 항공사진을 영상화 및 정사 보정하여 범용 시스템에서 판독 가능한 지형 요소를 분석하고 추출하였다. 국립지리원 발행 1/5,000 기준 수치 지도와 비교하여 정성적 및 정량적으로 분석하고 표현상의 문제점을 도출하였으며, 범용 시스템에서 정사영상을 이용한 지도 제작 가능성을 검토하였다.

  • "The Plan for the Development of the National Geographic Information System" designates the following six major thematic maps as the main subject of digital mapping project: topographic-cadastral maps; administrative boundary maps; land use maps; road network maps; national land zoning maps; and urban planning maps. Carrying out the digital mapping project requires standards and guidelines for digitizing process. However, there is neither standards nor guidelines with regard to thematic map production. This study describes the steps involved in producing thematic maps and provides the best procedural alternative for the production of thematic maps. Based on procedural alternative suggested by this study, actual digital maps have been experimentally produced for the selected area, Anyang-Si Dongan-Gu. The results of this experimental work have been utilized to government for not only making the guidelines but also initiating plans for the development of thematic map production.roduction.

Cartographic Characteristics of the 'Carte do Cassini' and Its Place in the Development of Cartography (카시니 지도의 지도학적 특성과 의의)

  • The Carte do Cassini is the first accurate topographic map of an entire country and it influenced enormously in the development of cartography in other countries. The purpose of this paper is to examine the production process and characteristics of the Carte do Cassini, and to and the place of 'Carte de Cassini' in the development of cartography. For this, firstly, the background of French national topographic mapping is examined and scientific work of the Cassini family is resumed. Second, the map production process is considered; location and attribute data collection, copperplate printing, social and economic difficulties. Third, map characteristics such as map projection, sheet numbering system, positional accuracy, legend, typographies, and depiction of cartographic signs are explored. Finally, the influence of the Carte de Cassini on cartographic development and its historical meaning is discussed.
