  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the difficulties of teachers who teach gifted students in invention and to help address their concerns. To this end, the researcher interviews four teachers with more than three years of experience in guiding gifted students in invention. As a result, they have the difficulties such as difficulties in themselves, relationship with parents, in teaching students, relationship with school and relationship with education office. Supporting measures are 1) strengthening incentives for inventive gifted teachers, 2) continuing in service education, 3) improving the student selection process for gifted students in invention, 4) improving parents' perception of gifted students in invention, 5) improving awareness of school administrators, 6) consistent and continuous administration.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate Earth Systems Understandings (Mayer, 1991) and Earth Systems meaning generation reported by science-talented students who participated in a geological field trip. The eight (4 female and 4 male students) field trip reports were randomly selected among all the reports written by twenty eighth-grade students who joined Shiwha-Lake field trip in Korea. The three-step program, including preparation, field trip, and summary, was provided to the students in order to facilitate meaningful learning through outdoor teaming activities. Seven Earth Systems Understandings and thematic types (Keys, 1999) were used to analyze the reports. The results of this study indicated thai aesthetic views and stewardship toward the Earth, which were the most distinguishing characteristics in Earth Systems Education, were reflected on most of the reports. The results also showed that the students tried to represent their understandings in such a type as meaning extension, meaning enhancement, or meaning elaboration. Overall, many students used 'knowledge-telling' process with a long list of observations and facts, whereas a few students used higher-order 'knowledge-transforming' process by coordinating their findings with interpretations and reasoning in their writings.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the research trends in domestic related to gifted counseling by utilizing Sementic analysis methods. For papers of gifted education in korea, KCI(Korea Citation Index) rated journals were selected 83 pieces published in journals were collected and the Sementic Network Analysis(SNA) way was utilizing for keyword frequency and Centrality Network Analysis throughout a variety of research articles using krkwic and Ucinet6.0. The results are as follows. first, the analysis appeared that the trends of paper keywords from highest frequency of appearance keyword in papers focused on four keywords: perfectionism, career, counseling, and the science gifted. second, Analysis of annual trends from 2001 to June 2018 showed that the top keywords were as follows: the gifted underachievers, the perfectionism, the gifted students of Science, and the science gifted students. the rising keywords were perfectionism, twice-exceptional students, and gifted parents, and the keywords of gifted students and general students showed a tendency to decrease. Consequently, gifted counseling research should be done from various perspectives.

  • Purpose of this study is to investigate on the attitude toward science of science gifted and talented(G/T) middle school students. The inventory instrument used for study was a revision of TOSRA which consisted of six domains. Subjects were 131 students who had entered into Center for Science G/T Education, Seoul National University in 1999. This center is composed of five divisions: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and earth science. There was no difference between genders totally, but the attitude level of male was higher than that of female in 'career interest in science' domain. Compared among domains, while the attitude score toward leisure interest in science' was the highest, 'normality of scientist' was the lowest. Whereas the attitude level was no difference among divisions except chemistry, that of chemistry division was higher than mathematics in 'adoption of scientific attitudes' domain. Thus, it is needed to provide social and national encouragement for superior science G/T students as well as to develope special programs for them so as to achieve their dreams and to contribute to scientific development of nations.
