Relationships between Consumers' Perceived Risk, Quality, and Value and Purchase Intention - Focused on the Moderating Role of Price Levels - (외식 메뉴의 위험 지각, 품질 지각, 가치 지각 및 구매 의도간의 영향 관계 - 가격 수준의 조절 효과를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how the price levels influence the relationships between consumers' perceived quality, risk, and value and purchase intention of restaurant menu. It analyzed questionnaire data from 406 consumers who had purchase experience of boned rib restaurant menu during the last 6 month period. The results showed that perceived risk had a negative impact on perceived quality and perceived risk had a negative impact on purchase intention. In addition, perceived quality had a positive impact on perceived value. However, perceived quality didn't have an impact on purchase intention and perceived risk didn't have an impact on perceived value.

Perceived Value and Perceived Risks on the Entrepreneurial Intentions of College Students Majoring in Art (창업의 지각된 가치와 위험이 예술전공 대학생 창업 의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This study tried to understand the effect of the perceived value and perceived risks of start-up on the entrepreneurial intentions of college students majoring in the arts, and analyzed the difference between the start-up experience of family and the degree of entrepreneurial intention according to the sub-major. Studies have shown that the perceived value of a startup has a significant impact on the intention of starting a business, and among the perceived risk factors of a startup, financial risk has a significant impact on the intention to start a business, but social risk factors and career risk factors do not have a significant impact. In addition, among the sub-majors in the art department, the craft major was found to have a higher entrepreneurial intention than other majors, and college students who indirectly experienced the start-up of their family had higher entrepreneurial intentions than college students who did not, and the presence or absence of the entrepreneurial experience of family had a modulating effect in the relationship between the perceived value and the perceived risks on the entrepreneurial intention.

  • 본 연구는 전자상거래 쇼핑몰 개발이후 수용되고 확산되는 과정에서 소비자 지각위험 및 구매의도에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 요인들을 선행연구들로부터 도출하고, 이들 요인이 소비 자 지각위험과 구매의도와 어떻게 관련되는지를 조사하며, 이에 대하여 전자상거래 쇼핑몰 이용확산에 필요한 전략적 시사점을 도출하려는데 목적을 두고 수행되었다. 연구결과 소비자 지각위험에 영향을 미치는 변수로 복잡성, 기업의 명성, 보안성의 3가지 요인이었고, 구매의도에 영향을 미치는 변수로는 상대적 이점, 적합성, 마케팅 지원, 보안성의 4가지 요인이었다.

Testing of risk perception survey - Diabetes mellitus in Korea (당뇨병 위험 지각 측정 도구의 타당성 평가)

  • This study was to evaluate of the reliability and validity of the Risk Perception Survey - Diabetes Mellitus (RPS-DM) with Korean diabetes patients. A total of 183 patients participated in this study from December 4, 2014 to January 1, 2015 with self-reported questionnaires. The data was analyzed using exploratory factor analysis, cronbach's alpha, and item to total correlation. The factor structure of the instrument showed the cumulative variance of 45.1% in the factor analysis and a four-factor structure was found to be appropriate. The comparative site risk score matched with the RPS-DM in English except item 7, 8, and 12. The RPS-DM in Korean version has been found to be reliable and valid.

A Study on the Risk Perception and Information Seeking for the Purchase of Clothing (의복구매시 위험지각과 정보탐색에 대한 연구)

  • This study was performed to investigate the type perceived risk of clothing consumers and the types of information seeking, the relationship between perceived risk and information seeking, and the defferences according to the demographic variables. The surveyed data from 376 college students were analized using Person's correlation, factor analysis, t-test, and ANOVA. The risk perception of clothing consumers was classified into five types: economic and performance risk, loss of time risk, social risk, and loss of fashionability risk. The information seeking was classified into four types: advertisement, observation in shops, information in memory, and opinions of neighbors. The type of risk perception and the types of information seeking were correlated positively and were different according to expenditure on clothing.

  • Recently, the high growth rate and advantages of the crowdfunding market have also led to increased participation of brands and companies, and this also applies to fashion business. Risk has been noted to be a key factor in consumer behavior in crowdfunding. With the high-risk context of crowdfunding where supporters inevitably bear to pay full amount of price before receiving the actual products. Factors enhancing or inhibiting perceived risk of crowdfunding need to be explored. The past literature on perceived risk and consumer attitudes in crowdfunding has expanded, but it has rarely covered the context of experience goods such as fashion products. In addition, the platform characteristics in relation to perceived risk should be addressed. The current study attempts to address the effect of the perceived amount of information offered in a fashion crowdfunding project on perceived risk and the intention to participate in the project. For the experiment of this study, a fictitious crowdfunding page for fashion products was set as the stimuli. A total of 240 Korean participants were recruited and their responses were statistically analyzed using SPSS 24.0 software. In the results, the greater the amount of detailed information about the fashion crowdfunding project, the higher the intention to participate the project. The greater the amount of information provided, the lower the perceived risk of consumers. Moreover, the lowered perceived risk affected the intention of participate. Perceived risk has a partial mediation in the relationship between the amount of information and intention to participate. Theoretical and managerial implications are discussed.

Affect Heuristic in Risk and Benefit Perception of Scientific Technologies (과학기술의 위험 및 이득 지각에서 감정추단)

  • We surveyed the emotional images of three kinds of scientific technologies in people's mind and the perception of technologies in terms of their risks and benefits. The contents of the image and their image values were used to estimate the affects on each technology. As an affect heuristic hypothesis predicted, people perceived the technology more beneficial or riskier depending on their overall affect. In other words, those who have positive affect on the technology Perceived less risky and more beneficial than those who have negative affect. On the other hand, those who have negative affect on the technology perceived riskier and less beneficial than those who have positive affect. We also found negative relationship between the perceived risk and perceived benefit of each technology. The implications of our findings that suggest affective heuristic were discussed in terms of the measurements of affect and the necessity of communication of scientific technologies with the public.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of perceived risk, perceived benefits and trust on the intention of continuous use of Internet primary banks in order to explore ways for stable establishment and growth of Internet primary banks. In addition, the mediating effects of trust on the relationships among perceived benefits, perceived risk and intention of continuous use were tested. Through an online survey, 457 people aged 20-59 years who had experience of using an Internet primary bank within the last 3 months were selected as the subjects for this study. First, perceived benefits, perceived risk, and trust were found to have a significant influence on the intention of continuous use of Internet primary banks. Second, the partial mediation effect of trust on the relationships of ease of use and functional risk with intention of continuous use was confirmed, and the full mediation effect of trust on the relationships of attractiveness and innovativeness with intention of continuous use was verified. In order to achieve sustainable growth, Internet primary banks are required to increase major benefits of customers and lower the risk levels to build firm customer trust.

The Relationships of Consumers' Objective Knowledge, Subjective Knowledge, Risk Perception and Purchase Intention of Organic Food : A Mediating Effect of Risk Perception towards Food Safety (유기농 식품에 대한 객관적 지식.주관적 지식.위험지각 및 구매의도와의 관계 : 식품안전 위험지각의 매개효과)

  • This study investigated the relationship between consumers' knowledge and risk perception towards purchase intention of organic food. The data were collected from a sample of 311 housewives in Seoul and Ulsan. A structural equation modelling technique was used to test the causal model. The results indicated that subjective knowledge was significantly associated with purchasing organic food. Objective knowledge, in contrast, was only indirectly associated with purchasing organic food, through increased subjective knowledge and risk perception towards purchasing organic food. Risk perception towards organic food had a direct positive and relatively strong relationship with purchasing organic food. Implications of the results and limitations of the study were discussed.

  • 소비자들이 제품을 구매할 때 갖는 위험 지각(perceptions of risk)은 인터넷을 통한 상거래의 확산에 있어서 큰 걸림돌이다. 즉, 소비자들은 구매전에 제품을 직접 만져보거나 시용해 보지 못하기 때문에 여러 가지 종류의 위험 부담을 안고 구매를 할 수밖에 없는 것이다. 본 연구는 소비자들이 인터넷 쇼핑을 할 때에 느끼는 이러한 여러 가지 위험 요소들을 실증 자료를 통하여 보다 구체적으로 살펴본 것이다. 특히 이 실증 연구에서는 이러한 요소들을 찾아내어 분류하였고, 이러한 위험 요소들이 인터넷 쇼핑몰에 대한 이용 의도에 미치는 상대적 영향력을 측정하였다. 또한 본 연구는 이러한 위험 지각 수준을 감소시킬 수 있는 쇼핑몰 평가 요인들에 주목하여, 이들의 위험 지각 요인들에 대한 영향력도 살펴보았다. 끝으로 본 연구가 인터넷 마케터들에 대하여 가지는 전략적 시사점을 논한다.
