A Production of Edutainment Contents Using Augmented Reality (증강현실을 적용한 에듀테인먼트 콘텐츠 제작)

  • Education tools expressed in texts and images turned into the edutainment such as a education and playing experience. Augmented reality(AR) technology in the field of edutainment was possible to have an amused-education by maximizing experiences. Recently, it is also served in a variety of mobile applications which exploit AR technology. The paper is to describe on the practical measures for the experience of education through designing and implementing edutainment contents. The implementation makes use of a engine 'Vuforia', and a platform 'Unity 3D'.

  • This Study analyzes gameness in SNS. SNS is not only communication tool for real life but also game like media for the experimental fiction. As the media like games, SNS meets 6 classic game features. After the Tatradic analysis, Expressive and manipulation rules move SNS paidia direction, player's effort and negotiable outcome are obsolesced. Player's attachment is enhanced and in SNS, the tradition of MUD retrieves abstract ground with representative expression. As following result, SNS is able to extend its own area to the player's creative world for the possible. SNS is the media like games.

  • $Pok{\acute{e}}mon$ Go is an augmented reality (AR) game developed jointly by Niantic and Nintendo. It's a new type of augmented reality role-playing game (RPG) where AR elements like location information, visual recognition technology and GPS navigation technology are integrated with the intellectual property of the popular $Pok{\acute{e}}mon$ anime. The global success of $Pok{\acute{e}}mon$ Go can be attributed to the innovative incorporation of AR technologies into the game but also to the utilization of the Pokemon story which had been developed for 20 years. In summary, Pokemon Go is the fruitful result of a successful storytelling that combines the humanistic imagination of a popular, cultural archetype and the engineering imagination of AR game technologies.

  • 컴퓨터 환경의 급속한 발전과 더불어 게임 산업도 발전하고 있다. 또한 보다 현실감 있는 컴퓨터 게임 환경과 인터페이스에 관한 연구도 많이 진행되고 있다. 이를 위한 환경으로는 증강현실과 가상현실이 있으며, 사용하는 인터페이스로는 사이버글러브, 데이터글러브, 전자펜, 마커 등과 같은 하드웨어 장비가 있다. 이러한 장비를 이용하면 현실감이 떨어지고 사용자에게 많은 경제적 부담감을 주며, 복잡한 기술이 필요하다는 단점이 있다. 본 논문은 추가적인 장비의 도움 없이 손만을 사용하여 실감형 오델로 게임을 할 수 있는 기술과 방법을 제안한다. 우리는 손을 찾기 위하여 스킨 칼라 모델을 사용하고, 원하는 위치에 돌을 놓기 위하여 손의 좌표와 마커 좌표간의 켈리브레이션을 수행하여 좌표변환을 하였다. 본 논문에서 제안된 방법은 오델로 게임뿐만 아니라 다른 증강현실 보드게임에 적용될 때 사용자에게 보다 현실감 있는 환경을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Development of Character Goods Content Utilizing Marker-based Augmented Reality (마커기반 증강현실을 활용한 캐릭터 굿즈 콘텐츠 개발)

  • Recently, there has been growing interest in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, with a particular focus on the advancement of augmented reality (AR) devices. However, there is a shortage of AR content. Augmented reality operates through marker-based and markerless methods. The marker-based approach involves using a camera to capture images that serve as markers, enhancing them through AR principles. To address the scarcity of AR content and improve the quality of character goods, this study proposes integrating AR technology into character goods. The character industry is expanding each year, leading to a diverse range of character goods. Character acrylic stands, among these goods, leverage game, webtoon, and animation character IPs for sales. To enhance the design process, we utilized the character image as a marker, allowing for the creation of content that aligns with the characteristics of the character IP. We selected a webtoon character and developed AR content, incorporating features such as voice, speech bubbles, and an introduction to the webtoon, tailored to the webtoon's characteristics. This study demonstrates the potential of AR to present visual and auditory information, paving the way for a variety of products, including diverse content. We anticipate that utilizing this research will lead to the emergence of products encompassing various contents.

  • 증강현실은 가상현실과 달리 완벽한 가상공간이 아닌 실제 환경과 융합된 환경을 제공하여 줌으로써 수용자들과의 상호 작용성을 한층 더 강화시켜주고 있다. 게임을 비롯한 가상현실에 대한 컨텐츠의 활용은 최근 미디어 아트, 스마트 폰과 같이 매체와 결합을 하면서 증강현실 형태로 다양한 분야에 적용되고 있다. 특히 학습하고 있는 내용에 대한 직접적인 정보 제공과 콘텐츠 제공을 통한 실시간 상호 작용성이 가능해짐에 따라 이를 활용하고자 하는 교육적 수요가 증가하고 있다. 이러한 산업적 요구에도 불구하고 증강현실 시스템에 관한 선행된 연구들의 많은 부분이 리얼리티의 증가, 렌더링 및 트랙킹 기술, 입체 영상으로의 변환등과 같이 기술적인 부분으로 한정되어 있으며, 증강현실을 교육적으로 활용하기위한 연구는 미비한 편이다. 즉 기술적인 면에서 어떻게 적용할 것인가에 대한 연구가 선행되었을 뿐 수용자의 입장에서 적용 방법 및 적용 범위에 따른 다양한 논의가 부족한 상황이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 증강현실 경험을 최적화하기 위한 구현요소를 수용자 시각과 인식에 중점을 두어 파악하고 적용하고자 한다.

Application Method of Image Restoration based on Augmented Reality to Museum Education (증강현실을 이용한 복원영상의 박물관 교육분야 활용방안)

  • Interest in the augmented reality is growing and increase of Smartphone is changing people's life style. The purpose of this study is to explore application method of image restoration based on augmented reality to museum education. Museum is the proper place that audience, including students could learn culture and history of past time. This study suggests that using smartphone application which is used by image restoration with augmented reality is efficient to museum audience's understanding and interest. A game design for domestic museums is planned. Smartphone application which is used by image restoration with augmented reality also could be utilized for exploring historic sites or enjoying local festivals.

  • ICT 기술발전에 힘입어 게임은 짧은 시간 동안 기술적으로 큰 발전을 이뤄냈다. 최근에 들어서는 증강현실(AR;Augmented Reality), 가상현실(VR;Virtual Reality) 기술의 연구가 활발한데, 이는 사용자가 직접 게임의 가상공간에서 활동함으로써 독보적인 사용자경험을 제공할 수 있다는 점에서 차세대 게임 기술로 주목받고 있다. 그러나 AR VR 기술은 현재 상용화가 어려우며, 더 다양한 분야의 연구성과가 뒷받침되어야 비로소 구현이 가능하다는 점에서 근미래 게임기술의 목표로 삼기에는 부적합하다. 이에 반해 연관현실(Relative Reality) 플랫폼은 기술적인 요소의 비중이 큰 AR VR과는 다른 방법으로 현실과 가상현실을 엮어낸다. 연관현실은 현실에 가상현실을 더하는 AR과 현실에 기초한 가상현실을 구현하는 VR과 달리, 현실과 가상현실의 상호작용에 주목하고 있다. 이에 따라 연관현실 플랫폼은 기존 게임과는 차별화된 사용자경험을 제공하고, 현재의 기술 수준으로 지속가능한 개발이 가능하며, 향후 AR VR을 통한 대체현실 구현에 기여할 수 있다는 점에서 그 가치가 높다.

  • A college campus tour is a great opportunity to promote the school environment, facilities and history to visitors or prospective students. Along with the population of smart phones and the advancement of information and communication technologies, many universities have recently provided mobile applications for campus tour, and some are starting to utilize augmented reality technology. However, most of the existing campus tour augmented reality systems tended to present a description-oriented campus tour guide. Their main focus is simply to provide information about the campus's main buildings or symbols. This study focuses on self-guided tours of the campus through games making new students and visitors to get familiar with the campus in a more natural and intuitive way. In this paper we present the design and development of a location-based mobile augmented reality treasure hunt game to enhance the user experience.

Analysis of mediating effects of presence, emotional attachment, and focus of attention for augmented reality immersion - In the case of augmented reality game Pokémon Go users (증강현실 몰입에 대한 현존감 및 정서적 애착과 주의집중의 매개효과 연구 - 증강현실 게임 포켓몬 고 이용자를 사례로)

  • This study aims to investigate the influence of engagement of augmented reality game on immersion. The relationship between engagement and flow was examined through the mediating effects of emotional attachment and focus of attention on presence and the mediating effects of presence on flow. In order to verify the research hypothesis, online questionnaire was conducted with the consent of $Pok\acute{e}mon$ Go game user group. The questionnaire items were translated from the Augmented Reality Immersion Questionnaire. A total of 200 questionnaires were collected and used for analysis. Using the SPSS 23.0 program and the Mplus 7.0 program, the reliability of the scale was confirmed through the Cronbach's coefficient and the causal relationship and the mediating effects were verified by path analysis. As a result, there was no direct causal relationship between engagement and flow. However, causal relationship was evident when emotional attachment and focus of attention were mediated in the process of engagement in augmented reality game. In conclusion, systematic explanations of participant's emotional attachment and attentional state as a main factor in the process of participating in the augmented reality game involvement, reveal the elements to be noticed by the augmented reality game.
