  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences in perception levels of goals and concepts of physical education by the body image and gender of middle school students. Among 461 middle students randomly selected by a multistaged cluster sampling technique, 433 students(boys 267, girls 166) filled out questionnaires consisted of Figure Rating Scale and modified ones. To know the differences in the perception levels of goal and concept of physical education by sex, t-test was utilized. In order to find out the differences in the perception levels of goal and concept of physical education by body image, ANOVA was performed using the SPSS Windows 12.0. The results of this study revealed that boys had higher level of goal and concept of physical education than girls. Second, middle school students classified into normal body image was higher level of goal and concept of physical education that other body images such as very thin, thin, very obese, and obese ones. The results of this study indicated that curriculum of physical education focused on fragmentation of health, psychomotor, cognitive, affective, leisure, holistic human should make girls understand thoroughly and deeply goals and concepts of physical education and ideal body image.

  • Perception of the experiment is one of the most important factors of students' understanding of scientific inquiry and the nature of science. This study examined the perception of middle and high school students of the meaning of 'experiment' in the biological sciences. Semantic network analysis (SNA) was especially used to visualize students' perception structure in this study. One hundred and ninety middle school students and 200 high school students participated in this study. Students responded to two questions on the meaning of 'experiment' in science and biology. This study constructed four semantic networks based on the collected response. As a result, middle school students about the 'experiment' in science are 'we', 'direct', 'principle' of such words was aware of the experiments from the center to the active side. The high school students' 'theory', 'true', 'information' were recognized as an experiment that explores the process of creating a knowledge center including the word. In addition, middle school students relative to 'experiment' of the creature around the 'dissection', 'body', high school students were recognized as 'life', 'observation' observation activities dealing with the living organisms and recognized as a core. The results of this study will be used as important evidence in the future to map out an experiment in biological science curriculum.

  • This study aimed to explore the relationship between Intelligent Robot Reacher(IRT)-student by examining the factors of their relationship perceived by middle school students. In doing so, we developed questionnaires based on the existing teacher-student relationship scale and conducted an online survey of 283 first graders in middle school. The collected date were analyzed using exploratory factor analyses with SPSS 23 and confirmatory factor analysis with Amos 21. The study findings identified four factors of IRT-student relationship namely "trust", "competence", "emotional exchange", and "tolerance". It is expected that the study can be used to discuss ways to enhance educationally significant interaction between students-IRT and teaching methods using intelligent robots(IRs). Also, the study will contribute to the understanding and development of various services using IRs. Based on the study finidngs, future studies should investigate the perception of various education stockholders (teachers, parets, etc) on IRT to elevate the Human-Robot Interaction in the education field.

  • The aim of this study was to determine the association between the Body Mass Index (BMI), weight perception and depression-like symptoms in Korean middle school students. The data was obtained from the 2012 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey. The subjects were 37,297 students living in the community. Adjusting for covariates (sex, school year, home economics, city-type, school record, self-reported happiness, self-reported health status, suicidal thinking, smoking, alcohol consumption), the self-reported obesity (OR=1.14, 95% CI: 1.06-1.22) and self-reported underweight (OR=1.11, 95% CI: 1.03-1.20), compared to the self-reported healthy weight, were more likely to have depression-like symptoms. On the other hand, the BMI-based weight was not associated independently with depression-like symptoms. These findings suggest that weight perception is significantly associated with depression-like symptoms.

  • This study aimed to explore how middle school students perceive constructed-response items and how they solve those items and the patterns of the processes. For this purpose, data were collected from middle school students through survey, written responses on those items that were developed for this particular purpose, and interviews. The survey data were analyzed by using Excel and the written responses and interview data qualitatively. The findings about the students' perceptions about the constructed-response items suggested that the middle school students perceive the items primarily as involving writing solutions logically(17%) and being capable of explaining while solving them(7%). The most difficulties they encounter when solving the items were understanding(26%), applying(12%), mathematical writing(25%), computing(23%), and reasoning(14%). The findings about the students' mathematical proficiencies showed that they made an error most in reasoning (35%), then in understanding(31%), in applying(9%), and least in computing(3%).

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of the perceptions of school violence and satisfaction after violence prevention sociodrama in the first grade of middle school. This study was carried out in April, 2018, and the experimental group and the control group were 12 students in each of the first grade of middle school in S city and A city. As a result, the level of perceptions of school violence in the experimental group was 14.50 in pre-test, 11.83 in post-test, and 9.33 in average rank. The level of perceptions of school violence in the control group was 14.25 in pre test, 13.83 in post-test, and 15.67 in average rank. The Mann- Whitney U test between the two groups showed statistically significant indicating that school violence prevention programs are effective. The program has been satisfaction in the experimental group and the total average is very high as 4.71 out of five points, in particular the highest satisfaction with 'teacher's class progress'. Through this study, it is expected that the diffusion and spread of school violence prevention sociodrama for middle school students.

  • This study was to investigate the effect of socio-ecological factors on school violence attitude on middle school students. The subjects were 100 students in J metropolitan city and 100 students in S city. Data were analyzed using frequency, mean, standard deviation and hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS WIN 24.0 program. Factors affecting an attitude of school violence were the level of aggressiveness of student, parenting attitude, and teachers' attitude to violence. Therefore, in order to reduce school violence. For this purpose, it will be necessary to develop a program to manage the aggressiveness of middle school students and to have a proper awareness of the students' school violence attitude in connection with parents and teachers.
