The median encroachment accident model proposed in this paper is the first step to develop cost-effective criteria about installing facilities preventing traffic accidents by median encroachment. This model consists of expected annual number of median encroachment on roadway and conditional probability to collide with vehicles on opposite lane after encroachment. Expected encroachment number is related to traffic volume and quote from a study of Hutchinson & Kennedy(1966). The probability of vehicle collision is composed of assumed headway distribution of opposite directional vehicles (negative exponential distribution), driving time of encroaching vehicle and Gap & Gap acceptance model. By using expected accident number yielded from the presented model, it will be able to calculate the benefit of reduced accident and to analyze the cost of installing facilities. Therefore this will help develop cost-effective criteria of what, to install in the median.

Recently, there was an collision accident of vehicle-concrete median barrier and unfortunately, passengers were killed by exceeded capacity of concrete median. Therefore, improving the capacity of concrete median barrier is need to reduce damage. Accordingly, in this study, appropriate collision model verified by using the FE analysis program LS-Dyna and recommend a concrete median barrier section. The improvement parameters such as wire mesh diameter, steel plate, rubber pad were selected for improved capacity of the median barrier. Finally, section of concrete median barrier improved wire mesh diameter decreased volume loss, section of concrete median barrier improved rubber pad accepted impact loading and increased elastic area.

In this case report, we present the radiologic and pathologic findings of atypical ductal hyperplasia (ADH) in the male breast. It is well known that a high-risk lesion such as ADH is a precursor of breast cancer in females. However, the clinical significance of these lesions in the male breast is still uncertain because male breasts mainly consist of ducts without lobule formation, unlike the female breast. To our knowledge, imaging findings of ADH in the male breast have not been reported previously, except for a few studies on the pathologic findings of these lesions. Through this paper, we would like to present the possible imaging features of this high-risk lesion in the male breast and review the related literature.

A median is a safety feature most commonly used to separate opposing traffic on a divided highway. In designing highways, the selection and installation of a median can be a critical part from a safety viewpoint because road crossing accidents are definitely more serious than other accidents. In regard to the important function of the median. the proper countermeasure ought to have been provided and thorough study should have been carried out. In this paper, traffic accident data are analyzed to examine the accident reduction effect of the median, which are gathered from all over 4-lane national roads in Korea. The traffic accident data were categorized into two groups by the existence of a median. For more effective analysis, the data have been classified by accident type, severity. and occurrence time. To compare the effectiveness of median installation, not only the accident frequency but also the accident severity, EPDO. and the occupancy rate of specific accidents have been used as a mode of effectiveness. The analysis of the effectiveness of medians shows that both the accident frequency and the accident severity could decrease by providing a median. Also the section where a median was supplied showed the improvement of overall safety through fewer serious and fatal crashes as well as fewer head-on crashes. Therefore, conclusions can be drawn from results of this study that the median installation is an important means to increase the safety of over 4-lane national roads. This study is expected to provide the reasonability of the median installation by identifying the reduction of traffic accident after the median installation and to play a major role in selecting sections where the median is to be offered.

The purpose of this study is to introduce the concept of the geographic center, to examine its value as locational resource, and to consider the way of its practical uses. Geographic center is the intersection point where central meridian and central parallel cross each other. This geographic locational resources can be used as data for locational education in geographic education, the standards for antipodes, datum points for geodetic surveying, a factor of place marketing, etc. This study can be a model for a geographic discovery that is to seek many geographic resources being scattered about our country.

The Government is implementing the safety measures for pedestrian in living zone to decrease the traffic accident casualties in half. It is urgently to study the guideline because it contains to make the guideline of a median strip in City to prevent the violation of central line and jaywalking on the main contents. So, this study analyzed the pedestrian accidents and the violation of central line, and studied the type of a median strip, the installation guideline through studying the minimum crossing. Consequently, this study found out that a median strip which revised the attention inducement stick to decrease jaywalking could not have the strong prevention function of a crash barrier, so if it happens separation after the collision between vehicles, it induced the secondary accidents, and could take negative effects on traffic safety. In consideration of driving safety, this study analyzed that if it installs a median stirp, it has to ensure one meter, and such a thing could prevent the separation of lane or damage of facilities. However, if it is hard to ensure the space because of narrow road width, it could install a median strip in case of installing the road surface mark 0.5m. And the installation of the attention inducement stick or a median strip on the central line could be possible to induce the violation of central line, thus it is desirable not to install only anythings but also raised pavement markers.
