  • In this paper, the Gunn diode mount is experimentally designed for use in a W-band waveguide voltage controlled oscillator(VCO). The role of the Gunn diode mount is to match the low impedance of the Gunn diode to the high impedance of waveguide. Computer simulations of VCO characteristics such as center frequency, frequency tuning range, and output power are carried out for various values of disc diameter, disc height, post diameter, and utilized in the experimental optimization of the Gunn diode mount. The designed VCO shows excellent characteristics; 93.9 GHz center fiequency, 600 MHz frequency tuning range with $2{\%}$ linearity, 16 dBm output power.

  • The recent interest in the design of filters is motivatied by the fact that such filter can be fully integrated using standard metal-oxide-semiconductor processing technology. This is due to replacing all the resistors in the active RC filter network by the switched capacitors. The voltage gain of a SC filter depends only on the rations of capacitance and these ratios can be obtained and maintained to high accuracy. Therefore, it is known that a switched capacitor is much better than a resistor in temperature and linearity characteristics. This paper proposed a programmable SC filter and proved the fact that ${omega}_0$ Q and G of this circuit can be controlled by digital signal. Experiments show that SC filter remains the low sensitivities but it can't avoid little influence of parasitic capacitance. As the transfer characteristic of the SC filter is varied with sampling frequency and resistor array, SC filtering technigue can be applied for digital processing, speech analysis and synthesis and so on.

  • This paper presents design simulation, implementation, and measurement of a miniaturized GPS/K-PCS dual-band LTCC chip antenna for mobile communication handsets. The dimension of LTCC chip antenna is $9mm\times15mm\times1.2mm$. The meander type radiating patch for dual-band operation is realized by using via holes with 0.3mm height to connect upper and lower-layer antenna. The lower meander type antenna is to be tuned to the lower frequency (GPS) band. The upper meander antenna with via hole connection is to contribute the higher frequency (K-PCS) band. The resonant frequency and frequency ratio of the proposed antenna can be adjusted by changing the height of via-hole and effective path of meander radiating patch. The electrical characteristics of the meander chip antenna applied to a GPS/K-PCS are suitable for mobile communication application.

  • It is known that the detection of hopping signals without any information about hopping duration and hopping frequency is rather difficult. This paper considers the blind detection of hopping signal's information such as hopping duration and hopping frequency from the sampled wideband signals. In order to find hopping information from the wideband signals, multiple narrow-band filters are required in general, which leads to huge implementation complexity. Instead, this paper employs the polyphase DFT(discrete Fourier transform) filterbank to reduce the implementation complexity. This paper propose hopping signal detection algorithm from the polyphase DFT filterbank output. Specifically, based on the binary image processing, the proposed algorithm is developed to decrease the memory size and H/W complexity. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated through the computer simulation and FPGA (field programmable gate array) implementation.

  • In order to ultrasonically evaluate creep cavities pure copper samples were subjected to creep test and their microstructures were examined. Ultrasonic velocities. frequency-dependent magnitude spectra and attenuations were measured on a series of copper samples obtained from the different stages of creep test. Velocities measured in three directions with respect to the loading axis decreased and their anisotropy increased as a function of the creep-induced porosity. The anisotropic behavior could be attributed to the progressive change of pore shape and preferred orientation as the creep advanced. The 2% porosity by volume decreased the longitudinal and shear wave velocities by 11% and 4%, respectively. Furthermore, both velocities decreased nonlinearly with the porosity. As the creep damage developed, the magnitude spectra lost high frequency components and their central frequencies shifted to lower values. The attenuation showed almost linear behavior in the frequency range used. Normalized velocity, central frequency shift and attenuation slope were selected as nondestructive evaluation parameters. These results were presented and showed good relations with the porosity content.

  • Ohmic heating is a food processing operation in which heat is internally generated within foods by the passage of alternating electric current. The process enables highly viscous paste foods such as Kochujang, and fermented soybean paste to be heated very fast. In order to develope the novel pasteurization process of paste foods, static Ohmic heating system was built, and heating characteristic during Ohmic heating under various conditions were studied. Electric conductivities of Kochujang and fermented soybean paste at room temperature were 1.865 S/m and 2.510 S/m, respectively and increased linearly with increasing temperature. Specific heating rate was highly dependent on the frequency. The highest heating rate was achieved at 5 KHz for Kochujang and 20 KHz for fermented soybean paste. Uniform heating throughout the sample was achieved during Ohmic heating with low frequency electrical currents, however above 5 KHz frequency, surface temperature was several degrees higher than the bulk.

  • Sasang constitution classification is very important subject, so many medical men studied the Sasang constitution classification but there is no certain method to classify objectively. And the purpose of this study is to help classifying Sasang constitution through correlation with sound spectrogram. This study was done it under the suppose that Sasang costitution hag correlation with sound spectrogram. The following results were obtained about correlation between sound spectrogram and Sasang constitution by comparison and analysis the pitch and reading speed of Sasang constitutions; 1. There was a similar tendency in the composition reading speed between taeeumin, soeumin and soyangin. 2. Taeeumin's center was lower measured more than soeumin's and soyangin's in the pitch graph and graph by normal curve fit and there was a similar tendency between soeumin and soyangin. 3. There was a similar tendency in the pitch graph's width between all constitutions. 4. There was a significant difference between taeeumin and soeum in the mean of three constitution's pitch, this means that taeeumin uses lower voice more than soeumin. According to the results, it is considered that there is a correlation between pitch of sound spectrogram and Sasang constitution. And method of Sasang constitution classification through sound spectrogram analysis can be one method as assistant for the objectification of Sasang constitution classification.

  • This paper proposes a variable-Q digital graphic equalizer in which each equalizer filter has different Q-factor depending on the band as well as the gain. The proposed equalizer demonstrates the symmetric frequency response over the audible frequency range. While maintaining the similar level of hardware complexity, the proposed equalizer yields an actual response that is quite close to the desired one, as compared with the conventional equalizers. Also, we investigate how the performance is affected by the center frequencies of the filters.

  • This paper presents a method of UWB channel modeling, which includes the phase characteristics of the UWB channel. This is accomplished by decomposing a UWB pulse into several narrowband signal components. We show the ray-tracing algorithm can be used to acquire the amplitude and the phase of each signal component. Finally, it is shown that the received pulses simulated can have various shapes due to frequency-dependent reflectivity coefficient resulting from the intrinsic nature of ultra-wide bandwidth of a UWB pulse.
