An Empirical Study on the Measurement of Clustering and Trend Analysis among the Asian Container Ports Using the Variable Group Benchmarking and Categorical Variable Models (가변 그룹 벤치마킹 모형과 범주형 변수모형을 이용한 아시아 컨테이너항만의 클러스터링측정 및 추세분석에 관한 실증적 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper is to show the clustering trend by using the variable group benchmarking(VGB) and categorical variable(CV) models for 38 Asian ports during 9 years(2001-2009) with 4 inputs(birth length, depth, total area, and number of crane) and 1 output(container TEU). The main empirical results of this paper are as follows. First, clustering results by using VGB show that Shanghai, Qingdao, and Ningbo ports took the core role for clustering. Second, CV analysis focusing on the container throughputs indicated that Singapore, Keelong, Dubai, and Kaosiung ports except Chinese ports are appeared as the center ports of clustering. Third, Aqaba, Dubai, Hongkong, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Ningbo ports are recommended as the efficient ports for the target of clustering. Fourth, when the ports are classified by the regional location, Dubai, Khor Fakkan, Shanghai, Hongkong, Keelong, Ningbo, and Singapore ports are the core ports for clustering. On the whole, other ports located in Asia should be clustered to Dubai, Khor Fakkan, Shanghai, Hongkong, Ningbo, and Singapore ports. The policy implication of this paper is that Korean port policy planner should introduce the VGB model, and CV model for clustering among the international ports for enhancing the efficiency of inputs and outputs.

As an Open Port, Busan Port and Related Records (개항장으로서의 부산항과 기록)

  • The Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation between the Chosun dynasty and Japan and the United States of America etc. began signing procedures from Feb. 1876. Thus, Busan port became an open port to foreign vessels in 1876. This has resulted in Busan port becoming the greatest port in Korea. This study explored records which were made by the Chosun dynasty and Japan on the opening and development of Busan port. The results are as follows ; According to making treaties between the Chosun dynasty and foreign countries, Chosun dynasty gradually opened a door to the international community. Various institutions were established in and around Busan port by Chosun and Japan. For example, maritime customs, a court of justice, police station by the Chosun side, a Japanese consulate, the Board of Trade for Japan etc by the Japan side. Records made by or related to these institutions and on the development of the Busan port during the open-port period and the Japanese colonial period were preserved at the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies, the National Institute of Korean History, and the Busan Metropolitan Simin Municipal Library.

  • 본문에서는 항비만 소재에 관한 기술문헌 및 특허정보를 중심으로 조사하여 지난 20년간의 최근 기술동향, 저자, 출원인, 기관 분석을 통한 기술의 우의현황 및 분포도 등을 분석하여 관련 기술개발 방향을 파악하고자 하였다. 단, 본문은 비만관련 연구 전체조사가 아니며, 항비만 관련 신소재만을 조사하여 분석한 것으로 본 결과가 비만관련 연구의 전반적인 동향은 아니다.

  • Recently, mutual economy cooperation in Northeast Asia has leaded steady growth among main countries of it and rather promoted a single economy circle. In this region, Busan container port competes with min container ports in China, Taiwan and Japan in it for attracting transshipment container traffic of north-Shanghai in China and for-east Russia. Therefore, this paper aims to suggest competitive strategies for Busan container port to attract container traffic in Northeast Asia To do so, it evaluates the preference of important ports in the competitive situation and competitiveness edgy of important ports in Northeast Asia, and finally proposes the relative order of important factors. Based on the evaluation of it, first, the Busan ports hue tn strengthen port facilities to attract more traffic and in detail, reinforce the number of berth, yard areas and handling equipment Second, they also have to provide high quality of services to deliver cargos in time, not being damaged and swiftly response to shipowner and shipper's claim, Third, they need to review the strategy to adopt flexible tariff policy and to invest the profit from tariff in port service and facilities, as providing higher port tariff level by a regular rate.

  • Transportation decisions of ship liners are crucial for policy formulation in ports and shipping lines. Ship liners' port selection depends on the location characteristic of port. With network theory based, we empirically investigated determinants of global ship liners' port selection focused on major trade ports in China and Korea during 1995-2007. We present a detailed discussion on the related literatures about port selection, and develop hypothesis using network-based view. With conditional logit model, empirical results show that global liners select globally positioned ports rather than domestic oriented ones. Global ship liners select ports which have intra national network centrality, global ship network centrality and global network linkage.

항만크레인시뮬레이터를 이용한 하역장비기사 교육훈련현황 및 분석 - 부산항 신항만지역을 중심으로 -

  • 항만컨테이너터미널에서는 컨테이너 생산성뿐만 아니라 하역작업 안전성도 중요하게 고려되고 있다. 생산성 증대를 위해서 도입되는 대형 하역장비의 운영 효율성과 더불어 하역장비를 운영하는 장비기사들의 작업안전성 향상도 중요함에 따라 하역장비기사를 대상으로 하역장비 교육훈련 실시가 필요하게 되었다. 그러나 실제 하역장비운영을 통한 교육훈련은 장비운영비용과 위험성이 수반되기 때문에 경제적으로 장비 운영 시 발생되는 문제점을 최소화시키는 방법 가운데 하나가 항만크레인시뮬레이터를 이용한 하역장비 교육훈련이 제기되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 교육기관에서 보유하고 있는 실제 항만의 운영환경을 고려하여 개발된 최첨단 장비인 항만크레인시뮬레이터를 이용한 부산항 신항만을 중심으로 하역장비기사 교육현황과 그 성과를 통한 항만크레인시뮬레이터 장비 효율성을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 항만의 지속적인 성장으로 인해 야기된 문제 해결과 도시의 회복을 위해 주요 항만도시들은 수변공간을 중심으로 항만재개발을 시도하였다. 국내 대표 항만도시인 부산광역시에서는 원도심 활성화와 해양관광 거점 조성, 도시경쟁력 강화 등을 위해 북항재개발 사업을 추진하고 있다. 이러한 상황 속에 북항과 원도심에 접해있는 남항재개발의 필요성도 대두되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 부산남항의 수변공간을 대상으로 기초조사, 현황조사를 진행하여 현황 및 문제점과 개선방안을 도출하고 항만의 지속가능한 요소를 분석하여 이를 토대로 지속 가능한 수변공간 계획안을 제시하였다.
