An Experimental Study on Reusing of Waste Materials in Ligh-Weigh Composite Bridge Deck for Civil Structures (폐기물의 재이용과 경량 합성 상판 개발을 위한 실험적 연구)

  • In this paper, a development of composite bridge decks was proposed for design of civil and architectural structures to reuse the empty cans and plastics etc. The experimental specimens were made of rigid foamed urethane taking advantage of corrosionlessness in steel bridge decks, and simplicity in the field construction. 'Therefore, introducing the empty cans into the rigid foamed urethane, this experimentation have been carried out to demonstrate and evaluate the structural behavior by means of loading and vibration tests in composite bridge decks. Consequently, it was possible that had a good effect on the structural behavior by absorbing the strain due to the low elasticity of rigid foamed urethane, and not influence to cans in composite bridges.

  • Aluminum foam is one of the representative light-weight materials. In this study we analyzed the mechanical properties of the aluminum foam structures. Aluminum materials with pores have novel mechanical characteristics such as flame retardancy, damping, and energy absorption which are superior to those of polymer foam. Furthermore its reusable properties draw considerable interests. General properties, energy and acoustic absorption will be investigated and future research issues such as binding techniques of foam materials with other structures will be discussed through foam application examples.

  • This paper describes the suggestion of the special seat with the auxiliary plastic member for movie theater chair. In the previous paper, we have reported on the development of foaming sponge seat with the auxiliary spring member. And we have confirmed that it was more effective on vibration transfer than the chair seat of foaming sponge only. In this study, we have examined the major design parameters needed in the development of a foaming sponge seat in which the mesh type plastic member are inserted to improve the vibration transfer effect of a chair seat. By applying experimentation to the prototype as well as the experimental modal analysis method, we made sure that the effect of the vibration transfer could be improved through the use of a mesh type plastic member as similar as the auxiliary spring member.

  • This study was carried out to compare the characteristics of low density fiberboards (LDFs) manufactured with different adhesive types such as melamine urea formaldehyde (MUF), phenol formalehyde (PF), emulsified MDI (eMDI) and latexes resins. As results, hard LDFs were successfully manufactured by MUF, PF and eMDI resins. Thermal conductivities of all LDFs were significantly lower than commercial medium density fiberboard. Especially, all LDFs showed comparable thermal insulation performance with extruded polystyrene foam (XPS). LDF manufactured with eMDI resins showed the highest physical properties such as thickness/length swelling by water absorption and bending strength.

  • As spreading of train concrete ballast leads to the increase resounding friction noise, an porous sound absorbing block is applied in urban train tunnel as a counterparts against the friction noise. Three steps of major variables tests for an optimal mix design of the block are conducted to pursue the light weight of the block. Pilot property tests of the block for the cases of the fly-ash only as lightweight aggregates are carried satisfying KRT(Korean Rail Transit) and new KRS(Korean Railway Standards). Based on the results of pilot tests, required structural strength and admixture effects are evaluated. Additionally, typical lightweight aggregates are replaced so that lightweight and strength are improved for serviceability of poor working conditions and proper maintenance in urban train tunnel.

  • 지구온난화는 범지구적 환경문제로 매우 빠른 속도로 진행되면서 그 심각성을 더해가고 있다. 특히 해수면 상승이나 대형 태풍, 홍수, 가뭄 등의 이상기후가 빈번하게 발생되며 생태계에도 심각한 타격을 주고 있다. 이러한 지구온난화를 유발하는 물질들에 대해 도쿄의정서(Annex A)에 6대 온실가스($CO_2$ (이산화탄소), 메탄($CH_4$), $N_2O$(아산화질소), PFC(불화탄소), HFC(수소화불화탄소), $SF_6$(육불화황))로 정의 하여 규제대상으로 분류하고 있다. $CO_2$를 제외한 Non-$CO_2$ 온실가스들은 배출량이 $CO_2$에 비해 매우 낮지만 GWP(지구온난화지수)가 매우 커 지구온난화에 미치는 영향이 상당하다. 최근 이산화탄소 이외에 지구온난화 문제를 일으키는 온실가스에 대한 많은 관심으로 대상가스의 처리 또는 재활용을 위한 신기술 및 신공정 개발에 박차를 가하고 있다. 온실가스 중 HFCs는 GWP가 1300으로 미량의 배출로도 심각한 기후변화를 일으킬 수 있는 물질로, 우리나라의 경우 1990년 이후 HFCs 배출량 증가율은 연 평균 4.9% ~ 13.8%이다. 국내외 온실가스 처리기술은 대부분 CO2에 대한 연구개발 및 실증화가 지배적이고, non-CO2에 대한 처리기술 개발수준은 미흡할 뿐만 아니라 본 연구 대상인 HFCs 의 경우에는 처리기술 연구개발이 전무하다. 특히 HFCs는 냉매 또는 발포제로 사용되는데 일반적으로 사용 후 특별한 처리과정 없이 대기중으로 배출된다. 본 연구에서는 non-CO2 가스인 HFC-134a 를 대상으로 혼합가스에서 분리 회수를 위해 하이드레이트 기술을 접목시켜 경제적, 친환경적인 기술개발을 목적으로 한다. kinetic 반응장치와 고압반응기 및 magnetic drive system 을 이용하여 stirring speed와 driving force에 따른 HFC-134a 하이드레이트 형성속도의 상관관계를 제시하고자 한다.

Development of a Finite Element Program for Determining Mat Pressure in the Canning Process for a Catalytic Converter (촉매변환기를 캐닝할 때 발생하는 매트의 압력분포 유한요소해석 프로그램의 개발)

  • The catalytic converter in the front part of an automobile's exhaust system converts toxic exhaust gas into nontoxic gas. The substrate in the central part of the converter has a circular or oval-shaped cross section and fine lattice-shaped walls. In the canning process, the substrate is wrapped in mats and inserted into a can. During this process, mat pressure is induced, which may cause brittle fracturing in the substrate. In this paper, a finite element program for determining the mat pressure distribution was developed to avoid these fractures. The program was created in Microsoft EXCEL, so the input and output procedures are relatively simple. It was assumed that the substrate is rigid, the mat is material nonlinear, and the can is linear elastic. The can is modeled as a beam element to resist both bending and uniform tension/compression. The number of elements is fixed to 35, and the number of iterations, to 20. The solutions are compared to ABAQUS solutions and found to be in good agreement.

  • Most of the disaster relief items provided to sufferers and temporary evacuees that are supposed to be victims in Korea are not suitable for the shelter environment of temporary housing facilities, and are not satisfactory because they do not have the functions, proper size and types. The purpose of this study is to analyze the user needs of emergency rescue relief items by presenting problems about the use environment and to develop the variable air mattresses which are based on disaster prevention design. In order to secure objectivity such as usability, convenience, and durability, research data are limited. However, the difficulty of mass spreading of conventional fiber mat and the functional disadvantages of foam plastic mat are solved by adopting variable air mattresses. The variable air mattresses are expected to help rehabilitate people by helping victims of physical tiredness, illness worsening, poor sleep, and life instability that can happen during long-term shelter life.

Determination of Semicarbazide in PVC Gaskets of Food Bottle Cap and Foods (식품병마개 PVC gasket과 식품에 함유된 semicarbazide의 분석)

  • Method was developed to efficiently analyze semicarbazide (SEM) in foods. Although SEM is produced by thermal decomposition of blowing agent azodicarbonamide, it is too small to be activated by ultraviolet light or fluorescence. When 2-nitrobenzaldehyde semicarbazone, derivatization of SEM, was analyzed by HPLC with triple column system, coefficient correlation over 0.9997 and detection limit of 0.48 ng/g were observed. SEM level in commercial bottle cap gasket was 812.20-5771.30ng/g. Recoveries for SEM in food and PVC gasket were 83.45-97.33% and 92.12-98.71%, respectively. SEM level in plastic seals of press twist-off metal lids was ND-5771.330ng/g.

  • In the ALC(Autoclaved lightweight concrete) manufacturing process, if the pre-cured semi-cake is removed after proper time is passed, it will be hard to retain the moisture and be easily cracked. Therefore, in this research, we took the research by multiple regression analysis to find relationship between variables for the prediction the hardness that is the control standard of the removal time. We study the relationship between Independent variables such as the V/T(Vibration Time), V/T movement, expansion height, curing time, placing temperature, Rising and C/S ratio and the Dependent variables, the hardness by multiple regression analysis. In this study, first, we calculated regression equation by the regression analysis, then we tried phased regression analysis, best subset regression analysis and residual analysis. At last, we could verify curing time, placing temperature, Rising and C/S ratio influence to the hardness by the estimated regression equation.
