Recently more gravity data is being obtained due to the increased demands from the fields of geodesy, geophysics, and military. In general, the observed gravity values are corrected for the effect of tide, instrument drift, and instrument height to generate the absolute gravity values at a point. Until yet, the models for tide and drift corrections and those procedures are not determined in Korea which led to the inconsistent data processing for different data sets. Therefore, in this study, the models for tide and drift are analyzed to select the appropriate models. Based on the analysis, it was found that there is not much difference between Longman and Tamura tide models for celestial objects. Earth tide, however, should be considered in tide correction procedure. In drift corrections, the difference between the model considering only the common points and that considering all points appears significantly large up to 0.04mGal. In this case, the model with all points should be used as it the correct one according to the adjustment theory and it generates estimates with better precision.
The gravity anomalies that observed by ground and shipborne survey and calculated from GRACE satellite are combined by using spherical cap harmonic analysis (SCHA). In this study, ground gravity data from Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resource(KIGAM) and shipborne gravity data from National Ocean Research Institute(NORI) and Korea Ocean Research and Development institute(KORDI) were used. L-2 level GRACE Gravity Model (GGM02C) was also used for satellite gravity anomaly. The ground and shipborne surveyed data were combined and gridded using Krigging method with 0.05 degree interval and GRACE data were also gridded using the same method with 0.05 degree to harmonize with the resolution of SCHA that has coefficient up to 80. Generalized Minimal Residual(GMRES) inversion method was implemented for calculating the coefficients of SCHA using the gridded ground and satellite gravity anomalies that had 0 km and 50 km altitude, respectively. The results of inversion method showed good correlation of 0.950 and 0.995 with original ground and satellite data. The gravity anomaly using SCHA satisfies Laplace's equation, therefore, using these SCHA coefficients, gravity anomaly can be calculated at any altitude. In this study, gravity anomaly was calculated from 10 km to 60 km altitude and each altitude, very stable results were shown. The ground and shipborne gravity data that have higher resolution and satellite data in long wavelength are harmonized well with SCHA coefficients and successfully applied in South Korea area. If more continuous survey and muti-altitude surveyed data like airborne data available, more precise gravity anomaly can be acquired using SCHA method.

The gravity data collected and reserved in Korea is seriously biased in its distribution. That is, only the west-southern part of the peninsula including Chungcheong and Jeonla area has dense distribution while only a part is covered in Gyoungsang area. Especially, the low density of the gravity data in mountainous area basically limits the accuracy of the gravimetric geoid in Korea. As one of the solution to overcome the problem, an airborne gravity survey were conducted from Dec. 2008 $\sim$ Jan. 2009. In this study, free-air gravity anomaly derived from the airborne gravity data which has consistent quality are presented. The data processing for the airborne gravity is composed of several corrections of errors such as errors from gravity measurement, errors from flight dynamics, errors from GPS, and errors from time synchronization. We presented detailed explanations on the data processing with the final cross-over results. The free-air anomaly from airborne gravity finally shows the cross-over accuracy of 2.21mGal which reflects the precision of each track is 1.56mGal. It is expected that the result from this study will play a role as input data in precision geoid determination with ground and ship-borne gravity data after appropriate fusion process.

Gravity changes due to variations of groundwater level were measured at a ground water monitoring well, which is located at Kum-san, Korea, from November 2008 to September 2009 using Portable Earth Tide (PET) gravimeter. Groundwater level was monitored simultaneously with gravity observations. To extract gravity information from groundwater, we reduced gravity effect from atmospheric surface pressure, earth tides and its loading effect, polar motion and meter drift. In addition, in June 4, 2009, there was a pumping test at he observation well, and groundwater level and gravity variations were observed together successfully. Observation of gravity along with groundwater level is potentially useful for monitoring of aquifer water mass balance and water resources.

A Gravity characteristic of Svalbard archipelago in Arctic was studied by using ArcGP data. There are situated the Dasan science station. After bouguer correction, an edge effect of free-air anomaly, which is similar to topography, are not shown at passive continent margin, and after terrain correction with GTOPO30 data, gravity anomaly increases from continent to marine. that is deep connected with rise of Moho discontinuity. The correlation of topography and free-air anomaly shows that the isostasy of continent attains a little less than marine. After filtering, the residual anomaly are shown high and low anomalies related to fracture zone in continent and base depression or thick sedimentary layer in continental slope, marine.

The global gravitational model is essential for precision geoid model construction. Also, it would be used as basic scientific data in geophysical and oceanographic fields. In Korea, EGM2008 has been used from the late 2000s. After publishing EGM2008, new gravitational models such as GOCO02S, GOCO03S, EIGEN-6C, EIGEN-6C2 based on GOCE data were developed. Therefore, we need to verify recent models to select optimal one for geoid computation in Korea. In this study, we compared new models generated based on the GOCE data to EGM2008 and verified the precision of models by comparing with NGII(National Geographic Information Institute) GPS/Leveling data. When comparing EIGEN models to EGM2008, the difference is about 8cm. On the other h and, about 70cm of difference between GOCO models and EGM2008 has been calculated. The reason for this is because GOCO models have been developed using only satellite data while EGM2008 has been used gravity and altimeter data as well as satellite data. When comparing global gravitational model to GPS/Leveling data, EGM2008 showed the best precision of 6.1cm over whole Korean peninsula. The new global gravitational model using additional GOCE data will be published consistently, so the precision verification of new model should be continued.
An uplift or a subsidence of a wide area can be derived from change of gravity value, change of geoid, change of heights at measurement points etc. In the past decade, 1) the absolute gravity value acquired at a point in Daejeon decreased, 2) the geoid height on the Yellow Sea Area derived from satellite altimetry data increased, 3) the height of the southern part of Korean Peninsula increased. By synthesizing these, we can interpret that the wide area including the southern part of Korean Peninsula and the Yellow Sea is uplifting with the velocity of about 2 mm/yr.

The geoid is the level surface that closely approximates mean sea level and usually used for the origin of vertical datum. For the computation of geoid, various sources of gravity measurements are used in South Korea and, as a consequence, the geoid models may show different results. however, a limited analysis has been performed due to a lack of controlled data, namely the GPS/Leveling data. Therefore, in this study, the gravimetric geoids are compared with the geodetic geoid which is obtained through the GPS/Leveling procedures. The gravimetric geoids are categorized into geoid from airborne gravimetry, geoid from the terrestrial gravimetry, NGII geoid(geoids published by National Geographic Information Institute) and NORI geoid(geoi published by National Oceanographic Research Institute), respectively. For the analysis, the geometric geoid is obtained at each unified national control point and the difference between geodetic and gravimetric geoid is computed. Also, the geoid height data is gridded on a regular $10{\times}10-km$ grid so that the FFT method can be applied to analyze the geoid height differences in frequency domain. The results show that no significant differences in standard deviation are observed when the geoids from the airborne and terrestrial gravimetry are compared with the geomertric geoid while relatively large difference are shown when NGII geoid and NORI geoid are compared with geometric geoid. Also, NGII geoid and NORI geoid are analyzed in frequency domain and the deviations occurs in long-wavelength domain.

The previous geoid model developed in early 2000s shows 14cm level of precision due to the problems on distribution, and quality of the land gravity and GPS/Leveling data. From 2007, the new land and airborne gravity data as well as GPS/Leveling data having high quality and regular distribution has been obtained. In 2011, a new gravimetric geoid model has been constructed with precision of 5.29cm which was improved about 27% comparing to the previous model. However, much more land gravity data has been collected at the control point, bench marks and triangulation points since 2010. Also, GPS/Leveling data having 10km spacing over whole country has been obtained through the project which is for the construction of new control points. In this study, new gravimetric geoid has been calculated based on the all available gravity data up to present. The geoid height shows the range from 18.05m to 32.70m over whole country and its precision is 5.76cm. The degree of fit and precision of hybrid geoid model are 3.60cm and 4.06cm, respectively. At the end, 3.35cm of the relative precision in 15km baseline has been calculated to confirm its practical usage. Especially, it has been founded that regional bias occurred at the Kangwon and coastal area due to problems on the leveling data. Also, some inland points show inconsistent large difference which needs to be verified by analyzing the unified control points results.
