The test and evaluation of floor impact sound is mainly conducted before move in the residence. Floor impact sound generating is actually the conditions in which a heavy load like a curtain and furniture is installed, the situation before and after move in the residence is different. In this study, we investigate the floor impact sound variations according to the live load installation like furniture in the source room. The vibration acceleration level and floor impact sound level variation were measured before and after live load ($200kg/m^2$) installation in the floor impact sound test building and the field. The difference was not large although the vibration acceleration level and the floor impact sound level were reduced through measurement result of load installation. Resonance frequency was not changed by load installation.
To date, research on heavy floor impact noise has mainly been conducted. The reason is that in the case of lightweight floor impact noise, sufficient performance could be secured with only the floating floor structure and floor finishing materials. In the case of heavy floor impact noise in a floating floor structure, the reduction performance can be predicted to some extent by measuring the dynamic elasticity of the floor cushioning material. However, with the recent introduction of the post-measurement system, various floor structures are being developed. In particular, many non-floating floor structures that do not use cushioning materials are being developed. In floor structures where cushioning materials are not used, the finishing material will have a significant impact on lightweight floor impact noise. However, research on floor finishing materials is currently lacking. In this study, as a basic research on the development of various floor finishing materials for effective reduction of lightweight floor impact noise, various materials used as floor finishing materials for apartment complexes were selected, the sound insulation performance of lightweight floor impact noise was measured in an actual laboratory, and vibration characteristics were identified through simple experiments. The purpose was to confirm the predictability of light floor impact noise.
The present study aims to investigate the level difference of floor impact noises of composite floor structure using EVA resilient materials. In order to this, four different types of resilient materials were designed combining PET, PP sheet and EVA mount including Flat type, Deck type, Cavity type and Mount type. Totally 9 different samples were made for acoustic measurements which were carried out twice with bang-machine and impact ball as the heavy-weight floor impact noise sources. All the floor impact noise measurements were undertaken at the authentication institution. As a result, concerning Flat and Cavity types, it was found that 2 dB ~ 5 dB of heavy-weight floor impact noise was reduced supplementally when PET was added, while floor impact noise larger than 50 dB was acquired when single resilient material was used. Especially, most high performance was obtained for Mount type with 1st grade of light-weight floor impact noise and 2nd grade of heavy-weight floor impact noise. This is because of material property with low dense PET sound absorption materials which fill all around EVA mounts. Also, it was considered that this results are due to the sound impact absorption by the both EVA mounts and the air cavity between EVA mount and PP sheet. Also, it was found that at least 36 EVA mounts per 1m2 area of resilient panel make more noise reduction of heavy-weight floor impact noises.
The present study aims to investigate the influence of the water to binder ratio of finishing mortar on the floor impact sound of apartments. For this, same resilient materials Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) with constant dynamic stiffness and different mortar layers with 52 %, 66 % and 72 % water to binder ratio respectively were used to build floating floor structures on which floor impact sounds were measured in standard testing facilities. As a result, it was found that light-weight floor impact sound was transmitted well when the water to binder ratio was 52% due to the high density. In case of heavy-weight floor impact sounds, since water to binder ratio of finishing mortar becomes higher as the weight of upper layer of resilient material lighter, it was shown that the natural frequency of floating floor structure moves to 63 Hz bandwidth which eventually cause a higher sound pressure level of floor impact sound. Thus, effect of water to binder ratio of mortar on the heavy-weight floor impact sounds was investigated.
In Japan, bang machine has been considered to have problems about not only the impact force and frequency response which are different from the real impact sources such as children's jumping and running, but also damage in the wooden structure housing. Therefore, a new impactor for lower impact force to prevent demage in wooden structure housing was developed. The impact ball was adopted as the second standard impact source in JIS A 1418-2 and ISO 140-11. In the present study, floor impact sounds generated by impact ball with drop heights in four floors of mock-up building of Building Research Institute (BRI) similar to typical Japanese wooden structure housing were investigated and also compared to jumping sound. The results show that Impact ball sound dropped at 10 cm to 30 cm was most similar to jumping sound. And The impact sound levels at 250 and 500 Hz were more sensitive to drop height than other lower frequencies. The error that may occur from the difference of height of 10 cm up and down based on the standard drop height caused by the impact ball operated by human hands was approx. 1 dB or less only in its value of characteristic, but it must be carefully taken into Impact ball in the Korea Standard.
Constituents of timber framed floor affect the insulation performance against impact sound significantly. Among them, installation of massive sound absorbing layer and reinforcement of stiffness of timber floor have been considered as major factors that improve the insulation performance against impact sound. Researches on evaluating the effect of floor constitutions have been carried out through the field measurements for timber framed buildings in Korea. It is concluded that the impact sound pressure level at the relatively lower frequency governs the overall insulation performance, and can be improved by the installation of sound absorbing layer and reinforcement of floor stiffness. Especially, the insulation performance against heavy impact sound was improved significantly when the massive cement mortar layer for floor heating system was installed and the stiffness was reinforced by shortening the joist span using additional beam at the mid-position of original span.

In Korea, approximately 48% of all households live in apartments, which are a form of multi-unit dwellings, and this figure increases up to 58%, when row houses and multiplex houses are included. As such, majority of the population reside in multi-unit dwellings where they are exposed to the problem of floor impact noise that can cause disputes and conflicts. Accordingly, this study was conducted to manufacture a high-weight, high-stiffness foamed concrete in order to develop a technology to reduce the floor impact noise. For the purpose of deriving the optimum mixing ratio for the foamed concrete that best reduces the floor impact noise, the amounts of the foaming agent, lightweight aggregate and binder were varied accordingly. Also, the target characteristics of the concrete to be developed included density of over $0.7t/m^3$, compressive strength of over $2.0N/mm^2$ and thermal conductivity of under 0.19 W/mK. The results of the experiment showed that the fluidity was very excellent at over 190 mm, regardless of the type and input amount of foaming agent and lightweight aggregate. The density and compressive strength measurements showed that the target density and compressive strength were satisfied in the specimen with 50% foam mixing ratio for foamed concrete and in all of the mixtures for the lightweight aggregate foamed concrete. In addition, the thermal conductivity measurements showed that the target thermal conductivity was satisfied in all of the foamed concrete specimens, except for VS50, in the 25% replacement ratio case for Type A aggregate, and all of the mixtures for Type B aggregate.
This study investigated effects of absorbent gypsum board in the ceiling on low-frequency heavyweight floor impact sound through sound absorption coefficient and floor impact sound measurement. The sound absorption coefficients were measured with sound absorbent gypsum board, glass wool on gypsum board, and a double panel absorbent gypsum board (absorbent gypsum board + glass wool + absorbent gypsum board). Result showed that the absorbent gypsum board had sound absorption coefficient of 0.1 ~ 0.7 from 200 and 630 Hz octave band. The sound absorption coefficient was increased in all frequency range by adding glass wool. Additional absorbent gypsum board increased sound absorption coefficient up to 250 Hz octave band, but decreased over 250 Hz. Heavyweight floor impact sounds were measured in test building for three materials above, gypsum board, and bare slab. Result showed that glass wool on gypsum board and a double panel absorbent gypsum board reduced by 3 dB ~ 4 dB (single number quantity) heavyweight floor impact sound. Comparing with bare slab condition, floor impact sound reduction was mainly found from 125 Hz to 500 Hz octave band, and the maximum reduction was shown in the 250 Hz octave band.
Recently, floor impact sound has become a serious social problem in Korea. There is an increasing need to improve floor impact sound performance using floor covering installed on the floor of apartment houses. KS F ISO 717-2 and KS F 2863 require measurement under conditions in which the resilient material is not installed. But most apartment houses in Korea install resilient materials to reduce floor imapct sound. The performance evaluation method of floor covering should provide reduced performance for use by residents of apartment houses with resilient materials. Therefore, this paper proposes a reduction performance evaluation under the conditions in which a resilient material is installed to verify the performance of floor covering.

Floor coverings and Mats are for children are economical and has excellent workability, as well as they can reduce floor impact noise effective. "When these floorings contact to impact source, they are deformed and change impact force characteristics that strikes floor structure. It is important to measure the impact force spectrum of floorings in order to evaluate reduction of floor impact noise for floorings. In experimental test of floor impact noise and impact force for 14 PVC vinyl floor coverings and 16 mats for children, we confirmed that the impact force spectrum directly related to the floor impact noise spectrum.
