  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of digital textbook use for potential risk group of internet addiction and average group. For this, I selected two samples. One was a group to use digital textbook at school, the other was a group not to use that. Then each potential risk group of internet addiction were sort out in two groups by a test of internet addiction. I firstly compared a average user group and a potential risk group of internet addiction in group to use digital textbook. Also, I too did that in group not to use digital textbook. Then I analyzed the relevance of using digital textbook and internet addiction. As a result, I found that using digital textbook have not the relevance with internet addiction. But in this paper, I proposed a way to teach ICT ethical training before students use the digital textbook, because most of potential risk students of internet addiction tend to think they was influenced by digital textbook.

  • This study aimed to compare Psycho-social Well-being depending on level of internet addiction and investigate the factors inducing internet addiction among 749 college students. The Internet Addiction Diagnosis Criterion Inventory was used to classify participants into two groups, Internet overuse and Internet normal use. The psychosocial well-being of each group was measured by hopelessness, idea of suicide, suicide attempt, stress, social isolation, and mental health. Data were analyzed using the t-test and $x^2$-test to compare general characteristics, level of internet addiction and psycho-social well-being between two groups(the overuse and normal use group). Moreover, logistic regression analysis was used to examine the factors inducing internet addiction. The results placed 82 people (10.9%) in the internet overuse group and 667 people(89.1%) in the internet normal use group. The internet overuse group showed higher level of hopelessness, idea of suicide, suicide attempt, stress, social isolation, and mental health scores than the internet normal use group. Therefore, people in the internet overuse group were more likely to have worse Psycho-social well-being. The results of this study recommend that the Internet overuse should be screened early because it can be useful in developing addiction prevention programs and then finally improving the psycho-social well-being.

  • With regard to recently emerged problems of smartphone addiction among adults and adolescents, this paper researched upper-grade elementary students depending on various demographic factors that have not been studied thoroughly so far. The survey was conducted on 1570 students in grades 4~6 of schools in Gyeonggi province. Results showed that, first, the average rate of smartphone ownership was about 66%. Second, about 1% of the students belonged to high-risk group, 5.7% to at-risk group, and normal user group was 93.3%. Third, based on the demographic factors, grade and academic achievements each was significantly correlated to the type of addiction group. For example, students with poor academic performance or in higher grade were more likely to be highly addictive. Fourth, both groups of at-risk and of normal-user pertaining to these factors - in urban areas, male students, sixth-grade, in dual income families - showed higher addictiveness score. But they were contrasted in the aspects of household economy and academic performance: at-risk group was more addictive in affluent families or excellent academic performance, whereas normal-user group had higher level of addictiveness in case of poor families or lower academic performance.

  • This study investigated the clinical characteristics of the Internet addiction risk group using MMPI-2 and discussed whether the MMPI-2 can be used for diagnosis, evaluation and intervention of the Internet addiction risk group. We verified the difference in the MMPI-2 scales between the addiction-risk group and the general user group, and verified whether the substance-related scales MAC-R, AAP, and AAS scales can distinguish between Internet addiction risk group and general users. The results of the analysis of the MMPI-2 characteristics of 39 Internet addiction risk group and 21 general user group who visited internet addiction counseling center showed significant difference in the D, Pa, Pt, Sc, and Si scales on the clinical scale. There was no difference in the MAC-R, AAS, and APS scales between the Internet addiction group and the general user group. This suggests, that it is not possible to screen the Internet addiction risk group with the supplementary measure, and it is necessary to develop a new scale to diagnose internet addiction.

  • This study examined the relationship among smartphone addiction, life stress, and family communication in nursing students. A total of 172 subjects participated in this study and the data were collected using the structured questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using an independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple linear regression using the SPSS WIN 19.0 program. Overall, the level of stress was high, time of family communication was short, and smartphone addiction rate was high in nursing students. The high risk group of smartphone addiction was 14.0%, potential risk group was 29.0%, and normal group was 57.0%. In the risk group, the life stress was higher (t=3.15, p=.002) and family communication was not better (t=-2.53, p=.012) than the normal group. Smartphone addiction correlated significantly with life stress (r=.27, p<.001) and family communication (r=-.26, p=.001). The factors affecting smartphone addiction were smartphone usage time, life stress, importance of smartphones in their lives, and family communication, and the explanatory power was 31.3%. Based on these results, it is necessary to develop personalized and collective customized intervention programs focused on smartphone using method, life stress management, and family communication for the prevention and management of smartphone addiction of nursing students.

  • This study aims to evaluate the impact of forest therapy on neuro-cognitive, psychosocial, and physiological aspect of adolescent internet addiction risk group. We have classified potential and high risk user group as internet addiction risk group according to the criteria of Korean Internet Addiction Proneness Scale(K Scale). Based on the results of k-scale from the adolescents in metropolitan area from May to July 2013, 25 people were selected as Internet addiction risk group. We have randomized 13 participants joining forest therapy camp and 12 participants not joining one, and analyzed the change of the two groups with Continuous Performance, Kimberly S. Young, Connor-Davidson Resilience, Relationship Change Scale, heart rate variability and cortisol. Statistically significant changes were observedd in neuro-cognitive, psychosocial, and physiological variables, Through this study, we can consider that the therapy healing may relieve the level of internet addiction and can be an alternative to control emotional stability and impulsive behavior.
