  • The purposes of this study was to identify the significant predictors of depression. The data were collected using questionnaire from the sample of 114 middle-aged women and 125 middle-aged men. The data were collected through self-report questionnaires, which were constructed to include stress, self-esteem, and depression. Data were analyzed using frequencies, means, $X^2$-test, Analysis of Covariance, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis with SPSS 18.0. The significant predictors of depression for middle-aged women were stress(${\beta}=.387$, p<.001), self-esteem(${\beta}=-.249$, p<.05), health perception(${\beta}=-.191$, p<.05), explaining 43.1% of the variance in depression. The significant predictors of depression for middle-aged men were self-esteem(${\beta}=-.429$, p<.001), stress(${\beta}=.322$, p<.001), explaining 56.0% of the variance in depression.

  • The purpose of this study was to construct and test a structural equation model of subjective quality of life in middle-aged men. The participants were 493 middle-aged men. Data were collected from September 10 to October 31, 2011. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 19.0 and AMOS 19.0. Self-esteem, social support, family communication showed direct and indirect effect on subjective quality of life for middle-aged married men, and job satisfaction showed a direct effect on subjective quality of life. The structural regression model of middle-aged men's subjective quality of life was a good fit with the model. These results indicate that it is necessary to design intervention programs to increase self-esteem, social support, family communication and job satisfaction in order to increase middle-aged men's subjective quality of life.

  • This is a descriptive study on what factors influence the quality of life of early and late middle-aged men. This research is the secondary analysis which was conducted with the data of 170 people and the primary data from 2017 by using SPSS/WIN program. The results show that the main factor is depression in early middle-aged men and social support for late middle-aged men, whose overall ability to explain was 77.8% and 64.7%, respectively. Therefore, this research suggests that multidisciplinary and converged approaches-developing nursing intervention programs based on the factors shown in this paper, creating social environment, strengthening social supportive system and making policies-be required for the enhancement of middle-aged men's quality of life.

  • In this study, a 3D simulation program was used to produce a bodice prototype of a middle-aged male in their 40s and 50s and then analyze the appearance evaluation and airgap, sectional view, color distribution through virtual wearing to compare and analyze the differences between patterns. Through this, it was intended to provide basic data necessary for pattern development to companies that manufacture and produce clothing for middle-aged men. As a result of analyzing, J pattern was analyzed as the most suitable body shape pattern for middle-aged men. E pattern was too tight and L pattern and N pattern had too much spaces. However, J patternt was analyzed that correction was necessary in setting center back and center front length. The aging phenomenon in which the back is slightly bent forward and shoulders are also inclined is expected to appear, so it is necessary to adjust the front-to-back length, shoulder angle, and shoulder length. It is considered that after developing the research pattern by modifying J pattern, it is necessary to develop a body shape prototype for middle-aged men through actual clothing experiments on middle-aged men.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the fitness of a Path model to represent relations between stress, social support, depression, and suicidal ideation in middle-aged males. The participants were 236 middle-aged males, and data were collected from April 11 to June 1, 2018. The analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and Pearson's correlations in PASW Ver. 21.0, and AMOS Ver. 18.0 (a statistical structural equation modeling program), fitness characteristics of the final model were RMSEA 0.05, GFI 0.98, AGFI 0.95, and NFI 0.98. The major study results were as follows. First, stress had a direct effect on depression and drinking, and social support had a direct effect on depression. Second, stress and social support both directly affected suicidal ideation. Results also suggested depression had partial mediating effects on relations between stress, social support, and suicidal ideation. We suggest a program be devised to reduce suicidal ideation by middle-aged males. It is hoped our results will provide basic data for future studies.

And the explanation power of the regression model appeared as being 59.4%(F=24.30, p=.000). The findings indicate the necessity of developing nursing intervention programs for the middle-aged men to improve psychological well-being by enhancing communication ability and self-efficacy.

  • The objective of this study was to analyze the factors affecting the stages of change of exercise in middle-aged men who work. 170 middle-aged men who work surveyed, 40 to 59 years old, is residing, Chung-Buk and Chung-Nam province, who understand the purpose of this study and agree to participate in this study. This study data is analyzed by using frequency, percentage, standard deviation, t-test, 𝑥2 test and Logistic regression analysis. The study show that the exercise self-efficacy(𝛽=.965, p=.003) and the perceived health status(𝛽=.805, p=.025) among middle aged men who work have an effect on the stages of change of exercise meaningfully. That is, the exercise self-efficacy of middle aged men who work who have exercise behavior is 2.6 times higher than middle aged men at work who don't have exercise behavior, and the perceived health status is 2.2 times higher. This study suggests that the development of better exercise practice for middle aged men who work should be aimed at promoting exercise self-efficacy and perceived health status, Based on this, it is necessary to find ways to operate exercise programs at the workplace and community level.
