Torsional Vibration of a Hollow Shaft Subjected to a Moving Mass (이동질량에 의한 중공축의 비틀림 진동해석)

  • The analysis of a mechanical system, body traveling along the elastic structure, has been a topic of interest. The establishment of analytical method for the development and control of this system is required in the fields of many machine operations such as modern weapons and high-speed feed drive system for a machine tool. The dynamic equations are derived on the torsion of a cantilever hollow shaft induced by the spin-up of a moving mass and the displacement of the mass. Influences of design parameters such as the inertia ratio, the mass moving speed and the friction coefficient are discussed on the transient response of the system.

  • In this study, stress intensity factors KI, KII, KIII are existing at the same time to a hollow cylindrical bar of three dimension inclination crack. In order to investigate by experimentally the effect of the inclination angle $\psi$ of crack, artificial inclination cracks in the circumferential direction are put in the surface of a hollow cylindrical bar made by the epoxy-resin. Experimentally, stress analysis methods of stress intensity factors were proposed. But, suitable method are the caustic method and the photoelastic stress freezing method. The mixed mode of KI, and KII, were determined by the photoelastic method of the classical approach method and the FORTRAN language program of the used smallest square method.

  • Internal spline forming using a thin and long tube can cause the buckling and folding during the forming process. In the study, we proposed two different extrusion processes, and we performed the analysis in order to obtain the optimal process according to the length of land part. Using the rigid-plastic finite element simulation, the proposed processes have been compared by checking the deformed shape and stroke-road relation.

  • In fracture problems, stress intensity factors obtained theoretically and experimentally have been effectively utilized in the analytical evaluation of the cracks effect. The effect of surface crack of a cylindrical and a hollow cylindrical bar is investigated, as well as the effect of the thickness of a hollow cylindrical bar and inclined crack of a hollow cylinder subjected to torsion moment. In this study, stress intensity factor Km of mode III which expresses the stress state in the neighborhood of a crack tip is used. Stress analysis was conducted of the inside of a hollow cylinder in the axial direction of three dimensional crack tip subjected to torsion moment by combining the caustics method and the stress freezing method.

  • The important problem in the high speed spindles is to reduce and minimize the thermal effect by the motor and ball bearings. Thermal characteristics according to the bearing preload and hollow shaft cooling are studied for the test spindle with the oil mist lubrication and high frequency motor. Bearings and motor e main heat generation, and heat generation by ball bearings as a function of load, viscosity and gyroscopic moment effect are considered. Temperature distribution and thermal displacement according to the speed of spindle are measured by thermocouple and gap sensor. The results show that the fitting preload and hollow haft cooling are very effective to minimize the thermal effect by the motor and ball bearings.

A Study on Rotating Arc Using Hollow Shaft Motor (중공축 모터를 이용한 회전아크에 관한 연구)

  • High speed rotating arc process, forming a flat bead surface with shallow penetration depth, can be applied to the automatic seam tracking, because the amplitude of current waveform increases at high rotation speed. Two high speed arc rotation mechanisms have been developed in Japan and Germany b rotating the electrode nozzle using an external motor, which are used prevalently for narrow gap and conventional seam welding. In this study, a new rotation mechanism was developed by using a hallow shaft motor designed to be installed in the electrode nozzle. By rotating the welding arc, the amplitude of current waveform increases remarkably since the self-regulation of arc is not fully performed. Experiments show that the arc sensor with high-speed rotation arc has improved its responsiveness and sensitivity.

  • Since carbon fiber epoxy composite materials have excellent properties for structures due to their high specific strength, high modulus, high damping and low thermal expansion, the hollow shafts made of carbon fiber epoxy composites have been widely used for power transmission shafts for motor vehicles, spindles of machine tools and rollers for film manufacturing. However, the molded composite shafts are not usually accurate enough for mechanical machine elements, which require turning or grinding of composite hollow shafts. In this paper, the grinding characteristics of composite hollow shafts, which are flexible in the radial and circumferential directions, were investiaged experimentally and analytically with respect to the stacking angle, thickness and outer diameter.

  • This paper presents a study of the influence of fixed pressure in turning. The effect of roundness error and diameter deformation were studied with respect to the fixed pressure applied inside the cylindrical work piece made by boring tool in CNC lathe. The boring tool used in this study is a tungsten carbide coated. The material of workpiece is SM45C and the machining method is dry cutting. Cutting conditions as cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut are constant. Finally, the change of fixed pressure had influence on the roundness error and diameter deformation.

Development of Precast Hollow Concrete Columns with Non-Shrink Mortar Grouting Type Splice Sleeve (무수축 모르타르 충진형 슬리브를 사용한 중공 프리캐스트 교각 개발)

  • In general, the precast columns can obtain its homogeneous quality as they are produced in a factory with a hollow concrete block type by using high strength concrete, so that they can generate the reduction of dead load. Such a method of precast hollow concrete columns is already implemented in USA and Japan and used for connecting between blocks which use PC tendons. However, it is inevitable to have uneconomical construction with excessive cost in early stage when PC tendons are used. This study aims to develop an economical precast column with high quality and constructability which consists of only splice sleeve and general reinforcing bar without using PC tendons in order to reduce the construction period and cost. To achieve this goal, this study tested the performance of total 5 minimized models in the experiment with the variables such as hollowness, diameter of main reinforcement bar and cross-sectional size for the cross section of precast column by using grouting type splice sleeve which is a new type joint rebar. And it also verified the performance of column in the experiment for a large-sized model in order to overview its applicability by excluding large scale effect.
