Enhancement of SNUF Active Trailing-edge Flap Blade Mechanism Design (SNUF뒷전 플랩 블레이드 메커니즘의 설계 개선)

  • Seoul National University flap(SNUF) blade is a small-scale rotor blade incorporating a small trailing-edge flap control surface driven by piezoelectric actuators at higher harmonics for vibration attenuation. Initially, the blade was designed using two-dimensional cross-section analysis and geometrically exact one-dimensional beam analysis, and its material configuration was finalized. A flap-deflection angle of ${\pm}4^{\circ}$ was established as the criterion for enhanced vibration reduction based on an earlier simulation. The flap-linkage mechanism was designed and static bench tests were conducted for verifying the performance of the flap-actuation mechanism. Different versions of test beds were developed and tested with the designed flap and the selected APA 200M piezoelectric actuators. Through significant improvements, a maximum deflection of ${\pm}3.7^{\circ}$ was achieved. High-frequency experiments were conducted for evaluating the performance, and the transfer function of the test bed was determined experimentally. With the static tests almost complete, the rotor power required for testing the blade in a whirl tower (centrifugal environment) was calculated, and further preparations are underway.

  • 2016년 태풍 "차바"로 인한 부산과 울산지역의 침수 및 2003년 발생한 태풍 "매미"로 인한 마산창원지역의 침수사례는 우리나라 해안도시유역이 해수면 상승에 의한 피해에 노출되어 있음을 간접적으로 입증하는 대표적 사례라 할 수 있다. IPCC 4차 평가보고서에 따르면 전 지구적 차원에서 지난 100년 동안 해수면은 약 1.7 m 상승하였으며, 1961~2003년 사이 해수면 상승률은 연평균 3.1 mm에 이르고 있다. 특히 우리나라 남해안은 연평균 3.4 mm씩 상승하고 있어 전 세계 해수면 평균 상승속도를 상회하고 있다. 또한 1990년대 이전보다 이후 기간에 우리나라에 영향을 준 태풍의 수가 많으며 평균적으로 태풍의 강도 및 해일고가 증가하고 있다. 따라서 전 지구적 해수면 상승과 태풍해일고 증가에 따른 복합적인 해수면 상승으로 인한 해안유역의 침수피해가 증가할 것으로 예상되며 특히 미래 발생 가능한 수퍼태풍에 의한 급격한 해일고의 상승은 해안유역에 침수피해를 더욱 가중시킬 것이라 예상된다. 특히 해수면 상승으로 인한 침수피해 특성은 홍수유출에 의한 내륙 침수피해와는 다른 특성을 보이고 있어 이에 대한 대응기법 개발이 절실한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 해수면 상승에 따른 해안도시지역 대한 침수피해 예방 및 저감을 위한 침수모의기법을 개발하고 효율적 대응방안을 선정하는 기법을 제안하였다. 부정류 특성을 지닌 해수면 상승 경계조건 및 건물 간 도로를 통해 흐름이 발생하는 특성을 고려하여 해안지역의 시공적 침수규모 및 유속 등을 예측할 수 있는 2차원 수치모형을 개발하였다. 2003년 발생한 태풍 "매미" 발생 기간 동안 관측된 실제 해일고를 적용하여 창원 등 해안도시유역에 범람모의를 수행하였으며 실제 침수흔적과 비교함으로써 모형을 검증하였다. 또한 해안 경계선을 따라 월파방지벽을 설치하는 경계조건을 도입하여 월파방지벽 높이에 따른 해안도시유역 침수규모를 산정하여 월파방지벽 높이에 따른 시공적 침수규모를 분석함으로써 월파방지벽의 효과를 확인하였다. 본 연구결과는 해안지역 지점별 침수규모 및 최대 침수심 발생시간을 제공함으로써 침수에 따른 중장기적 구조적 대응방안 수립은 물론 초단기적 예상 해수면 상승에 다른 대피경로 제공 등 비구조적 수재해 대응 기법을 제시하는 기초자료를 제공에 활용 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

A Study on the Air Pollution Monitoring Network Algorithm Using Deep Learning (심층신경망 모델을 이용한 대기오염망 자료확정 알고리즘 연구)

  • We propose a novel method to detect abnormal data of specific symptoms using deep learning in air pollution measurement system. Existing methods generally detect abnomal data by classifying data showing unusual patterns different from the existing time series data. However, these approaches have limitations in detecting specific symptoms. In this paper, we use DeepLab V3+ model mainly used for foreground segmentation of images, whose structure has been changed to handle one-dimensional data. Instead of images, the model receives time-series data from multiple sensors and can detect data showing specific symptoms. In addition, we improve model's performance by reducing the complexity of noisy form time series data by using 'piecewise aggregation approximation'. Through the experimental results, it can be confirmed that anomaly data detection can be performed successfully.

Parallel Computation on the Three-dimensional Electromagnetic Field by the Graph Partitioning and Multi-frontal Method (그래프 분할 및 다중 프론탈 기법에 의거한 3차원 전자기장의 병렬 해석)

  • In this paper, parallel computing method on the three-dimensional electromagnetic field is proposed. The present electromagnetic scattering analysis is conducted based on the time-harmonic vector wave equation and the finite element method. The edge-based element and 2nd -order absorbing boundary condition are used. Parallelization of the elemental numerical integration and the matrix assemblage is accomplished by allocating the partitioned finite element subdomain for each processor. The graph partitioning library, METIS, is employed for the subdomain generation. The large sparse matrix computation is conducted by MUMPS, which is the parallel computing library based on the multi-frontal method. The accuracy of the present program is validated by the comparison against the Mie-series analytical solution and the results by ANSYS HFSS. In addition, the scalability is verified by measuring the speed-up in terms of the number of processors used. The present electromagnetic scattering analysis is performed for a perfect electric conductor sphere, isotropic/anisotropic dielectric sphere, and the missile configuration. The algorithm of the present program will be applied to the finite element and tearing method, aiming for the further extended parallel computing performance.

  • The arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) method has been extensively researched owing to its capability to accurately predict the propagation of blast shock waves. Although the use of the ALE method for dynamic analysis can produce unreliable results depending on the mesh size of the finite element, few studies have explored the relationship between the mesh size for the air domain and the accuracy of numerical analysis. In this study, we propose a procedure to calculate the optimal mesh size based on the mean squared error between the maximum blast pressure values obtained from numerical simulations and experiments. Furthermore, we analyze the relationship between the weight of explosive material (TNT) and the optimal mesh size of the air domain. The findings from this study can contribute to estimating the optimal mesh size in blast simulations with various explosion weights and promote the development of advanced blast numerical analysis models.

Comparative Evaluation of Colon Cancer Stemness and Chemoresistance in Optimally Constituted HCT-8 cell-based Spheroids (적정 구성 배양 HCT-8 기반 대장암 스페로이드의 암 줄기세포능 및 항암제 내성 평가의 비교 평가 연구)

  • Cancer is a complex disease heterogeneously composed of various types of cells including cancer stem-like cells responsible for relapse and chemoresistance in the tumor microenvironment. The conventional two-dimensional cell culture-based platform has critical limitations for representing the heterogeneity of cancer cells in the three-dimensional tumor niche in vivo. To overcome this insufficiency, three-dimensional cell culture methods in a scaffold-dependent or -free physical environment have been developed. In this study, we improved and simplified the HCT-8 colon cancer cell-based spheroid culture protocol and evaluated the relationship between cancer stemness and responses of chemosensitivity to 5- Fluorouracil (5-FU), a representative anticancer agent against colon cancer. Supplementation with defined growth factors in the medium and the culture dish of the regular surface with low attachment were required for the formation of constant-sized spheroids containing $CD44^+$ and $CD133^+$ colon cancer stem cells. The chemo-sensitivities of $CD44^+$ cancer stem cells in the spheroids were much lower than those of $CD44^-$ non-stem-like cancer cells, indicating that the chemoresistance to 5-FU is due to the stemness of colon cancer cells. Taken together, the inflammation and oncogenic gut environment-sensitive HCT-8 cell-based colon cancer spheroid culture and comparative evaluation using the simplified model would be an efficient and applicable way to estimate colon cancer stemness and pharmaceutical response to anticancer drugs in the realistic tumor niche.

Comparison of Airborne Lead Concentration in and Around Lead Production Plant (재생 납 생산 공장과 인근 지역의 공기 중 납 농도 수준 비교)

  • Objective: This study is conducted to evaluate airborne lead concentration in and around lead production plant. Methods: Airborne lead concentration was monitored simultaneously inside of the processes of lead recycling factory and outside of factory which include stack, boundary of factory and residential area 1 km and 7.5 km from factory, respectively. All samples were measured three times at 1.5 m from the ground and analyzed using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer or flame atomic absorption spectrometer. Results: All airborne lead concentrations measured inside of factory($13.9{\mu}g/m^3-252.9{\mu}g/m^3$) and outside of factory($0.001{\mu}g/m^3-54.97{\mu}g/m^3$) showed log-normal distribution. Geometric mean lead concentration, $54.81{\mu}g/m^3$, measured inside of factory was significantly higher than outside of factory, $0.20{\mu}g/m^3$(p<0.01). Among the samples measured inside the factory, lead concentration was the highest in the refining process($59.02{\mu}g/m^3-252.9{\mu}g/m^3$). In the case of the samples outside the factory, the nearest chimney was the highest($3.84{\mu}g/m^3-54.97{\mu}g/m^3$), and the lead concentration at the farthest place, 7.5 km from the factory was the lowest($0.001{\mu}g/m^3-1.7{\mu}g/m^3$). The arithmetic lead concentration, $0.45{\mu}g/m^3$ in the residential area near the factory was below the atmospheric environment standard of $0.5{\mu}g/m^3$, but the maximum concentration of $3.4{\mu}g/m^3$ was exceeded. Conclusions: Airborne lead concentration in residential area, 1 km away from lead recycling plant, may exceed ambient air standard of $0.5{\mu}g/m^3$.

A Development of 3D Computer-Aided Design(CAD) Add-on Program for a Quantity Take-off through the User Needs Analysis (사용자 요구 사항 분석에 따른 물량산출 연동 프로그램 개발)

  • Since the Three Dimensional Computer Aided Design(3D CAD) appeared in 1990s, Building Information Modeling(BIM) has got the great issue in the construction project nowadays. BIM is the process of managing and generating building information during life cycle of a construction project. And information can be moved to 3D modeling flexibly in BIM. As a result, a field of estimating has also been doing researches in the calculation of the amount of building materials from 3D modeling. And the Construction Cost Estimating Software which is generally used over the world has been trying to be applied to the Construction project in Korea. But, when we consider the productivity, it is less efficient than the existing way in Korea which use the 2D Drawings when they take off the Quantity. Also, there are lots of difference how to estimate the construction cost. between Korea and the others. Because it is a bit hard to apply the software used in the other countries to the construction project in Korea, people couldn't use it well in the construction project actually. In this study, for developing the appropriate construction cost estimating software rooted in 3D in Korea, we suggest 3D CAD Add-on Program for a Quantity Take-off which can move quantitative information to 3D CAD.

No-reference objective quality assessment of image using blur and blocking metric (블러링과 블록킹 수치를 이용한 영상의 무기준법 객관적 화질 평가)

  • In this paper, we propose a no-reference objective Quality assessment metrics of image. The blockiness and blurring of edge areas which are sensitive to the human visual system are modeled as step functions. Blocking and blur metrics are obtained by estimating local visibility of blockiness and edge width, For the blocking metric, horizontal and vertical blocking lines are first determined by accumulating weighted differences of adjacent pixels and then the local visibility of blockiness at the intersection of blocking lines is obtained from the total difference of amplitudes of the 2-D step function which is modelled as a blocking region. The blurred input image is first re-blurred by a Gaussian blur kernel and an edge mask image is generated. In edge blocks, the local edge width is calculated from four directional projections (horizontal, vertical and two diagonal directions) using local extrema positions. In addition, the kurtosis and SSIM are used to compute the blur metric. The final no-reference objective metric is computed after those values are combined using an appropriate function. Experimental results show that the proposed objective metrics are highly correlated to the subjective data.

  • 가스하이드레이트(gas hydrate)는 고압과 저온 조건에서 물분자간의 수소결합으로 형성되는 3차원 격자구조에 동공(cavity)이라는 빈 공간이 생기고 이 동공에 가스가 물리적으로 포획되어 생성되는 것으로, 수소결합을 하는 물의 격자(Host) 내에 메탄등의 저분자가스(Guest)가 포획된 결정체이다. 가스 하이드레이트는 미량의 물을 첨가, 가압하면 부피비로 약 200배의 가스를 고상의 형태로 저장할 수 있으며, 열역학적으로 안정된 결정체이기 때문에 하이드레이트로 존재하기 위한 최소한의 온도, 압력조건이 충족되면 고상으로 항구적인 존재가 가능할 수 있어 가스의 수송 및 저장에 높은 경제성을 가지는 방법이다. 현재 운영중인 전국의 242개소 매립지 중에서 발전 및 연료로 활용가능한 조건을 같춘 자원화 대상 매립지는 약 14곳에 불과한 형편이고 이들 중 대부분 시설은 자원화 시설을 운영하고 있으나. 중소규모 매립지에서 발생하는 LFG에 대하여 효율적인 이용 및 처리 방안이 없어 태워 없어지거나 방치하는 등 매립가스를 활용하는 기술은 미흡한 실정이다. 이러한 LFG는 많은 환경적인 문제를 야기하지만, 50vol% 이상의 고농도 메탄이 함유되어 있어 이를 대체에너지원으로 이용할 경우 환경적인 문제를 해결함과 동시에 신재생에너지원으로 활용 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 중소규모 매립지에서 발생하는 LFG를 활용하기 위하여 하이드레이트 형성/해리 Pilot plant의 제작을 통하여 $CH_4$$CO_2$(단일, 복합가스의 실험)의 하이드레이트화 연구를 진행 중이다.
