주제 색인법의 분석적 고찰(1)

  • Various theories and techniques for the subject index have been developed since Charles Ammi Cutter first tried to formulate rules for the construction of subject headings in 1876. However, they do not seem to be appropriate to Korean language since the syntax and semantics of Korean language are different from those of English and other European languages. This study therefore reviews and analysis most notable subject indexing systems as a preliminaries to developing a new Korean subject indexing system.

  • 신문만화는 신문에 실린 기사중 가장 핵심적인 내용을 간략한 그림으로 함축하여 정보를 전달한다. 그러나 만화의 함축성과 비유, 짤막한 텍스트 때문에 객관적인 색인어의 추출이 어려운 것이 사실이다. 본 연구에서는 신문만화에서 키워드를 추출하기 위하여 만화의 내용과 관련이 있는 신문기사에서 색인어를 추출하는 방안에 대해 논하였다. 연구에서는 조선일보에 게재된 한컷만화과 네컷만화를 각 1점씩 예로 들어 비주제색인어와 주제색인어를 부여하였다. 특히 주제색인어는 내용상의 연관성이 있는 신문기사를 선정하여 추출하였다.

Exploration of Intellectual Structure of Artificial Intelligence Field Using Co-word Analysis (동시출현 단어 분석을 통한 지식 구조의 파악 : 인공지능 분야를 대상으로)

  • 이 연구에서는 통제된 색인어를 이용하여 파악한 지식 구조와 통제되지 않은 키워드를 이용한 지식 구조를 비교하여 두 구조가 어떤 차이점을 보이는지를 살펴보았다. 또한 색인효과가 어떻게 나타나는지, 비통제어를 사용한 경우가 실제적으로 더 상세한 하위 영역을 표현하는지를 확인하고자 하였다. 실험 결과 통제된 색인어인 주제명표목을 사용한 영역지도와 비통제 색인어인 키워드를 사용한 영역지도 둘 다 인공지능 분야의 주요 분야들을 비슷하게 나타냈지만, 주제명표목을 사용한 경우에 색인효과가 일부 나타났다. 그리고 대체적으로 주제명표목에 기반한 영역지도보다는 키워드에 기반한 영역지도가 더 상세하게 나타났다.

Construction of Theme Melody Index by Transforming Melody to Time-series Data for Content-based Music Information Retrieval (내용기반 음악정보 검색을 위한 선율의 시계열 데이터 변환을 이용한 주제선율색인 구성)

  • From the viewpoint of that music melody has the similar features to time-series data, music melody is transformed to a time-series data with normalization and corrections and the similarity between melodies is defined as the Euclidean distance between the transformed time-series data. Then, based the similarity between melodies of a music object, melodies are clustered and the representative of each cluster is extracted as one of theme melodies for the music. To construct the theme melody index, a theme melody is represented as a point of the multidimensional metric space of M-tree. For retrieval of user's query melody, the query melody is also transformed into a time-series data by the same way of indexing phase. To retrieve the similar melodies to the query melody given by user from the theme melody index the range query search algorithm is used. By the implementation of the prototype system using the proposed theme melody index we show the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

  • 전산환경에서 유용한 색인도구로서의 통제어휘집을 구성하는 원칙과 방법을 제시하고자 전조합색인용 통제어휘집인 LC주제명표목표의 표목구조와 후조합색인용 통제어휘집인 시소러스의 용어구조를 비교하였다. 주제명표목표에서 사용되는 도치표목, 전치사로 연결된 표목, 접속사로 연결된 표목, 세목을 가진 표목을 시소러스에서 사용되는 색인구조와 비교분석 하였다. 주제명표목표가 참조구조를 시소러스체제로 변환시켰을 때 나타나는 문제점도 파악하였다.

  • 통제어휘를 사용하는 주제색인 작업에서 색인전문가를 효율적으로 지원할 수 있는 자동색인 방법으로 프로파일 방법의 성능과 특성을 검토해 보았다. 자동색인의 성능에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인들을 검토한 다음, 동일한 조건 하에서 프로파일 기반 방법과 다른 방법들(NB, SVM, VPT)의 성능을 비교하였다. 그 결과, 로치오 알고리즘에 기초한 프로파일을 사용하는 방법이 다른 방법들에 비해 저성능이라는 일부 평가를 일반화하기는 어렵다는 사실이 실험을 통해 드러났다. 또한, 후보 디스크립터 리스트의 생성을 통하여 색인전문가의 색인작업을 지원하는 반자동색인의 경우, F$_1$척도로는 SVM, VPT와 동등한 수준에 있으면서 재현율이 상대적으로 높은 수준인 프로파일 기반 방법을 우선적으로 고려해 볼 수 있을 것이다.

A Study on Ontology-based Keywords Structuring for Efficient Information Retrieval (연구.학술정보 효율적 검색을 위한 온톨로지 기반의 주제 색인어 구조화 방안 연구)

  • In this paper, a ontology-based keyword structuring method is proposed to represent the knowledge structure of scholarly documents and to make inferences from the semantic relationships holding among them. The characteristics of thesaurus as a knowledge organization system(KOS) for subject heading is critically reviewed from the information retrieval point of view. The domain concepts are identified and classified by analysis of the information activities occurring in a general research process based on scholarly sensemaking model. The ontological structure of keyword set is defined in terms of the semantic relationship of the canonical concepts which constitute scholarly documents such as journal articles. As a result, each ontologically structured keyword set of a document represents the knowledge structure of the corresponding document as semantic index. By means of the axioms and inference rules defined for information needs, users can efficiently explore the scholarly communication network built on the semantic relationship among documents in an analytic way based on the scholarly sensemaking model in oder to efficiently retrieve the relevant information for problem solving.

Visualization of Conference Paper Topics and Trends According to Author-Assigned Index Terms (저자 지정 색인 용어에 따른 컨퍼런스 논문 주제 및 동향 시각화)

  • Index Terms, or keywords, are an important component of research papers because they present a quick overview of the main subjects covered in the research paper by highlighting the most important nouns. In this study, we extracted the author-assigned index terms from KIICE Conference Proceedings dating back to 2018 for seasonal conferences, and 2016 for the international conference (ICFICE). The extracted index terms were standardized and analyzed to gain an understanding of research topic trends and any over or under-represented research topics. This kind of index term analysis is expected to be useful in helping researchers not only identify additional potential topics for their own research, but also aid them in selecting from a common vocabulary of keywords when they assign index terms to their research papers.

A Study on Updating the Knowledge Structure Using New Topic Detection Methods (새로운 주제 탐지를 통한 지식 구조 갱신에 관한 연구)

  • This study utilizes various approaches for new topic detection in the process of assigning and updating descriptors, which is a representation method of the knowledge structure. Particularly in the case of occurring changes on the knowledge structure due to the appearance and development of new topics in specific study areas, new topic detection can be applied to solving the impossibility or limitation of the existing index terms in representing subject concepts. This study confirms that the majority of newly developing topics in information science are closely associated with each other and are simultaneously in the phase of growth and development. Also, this study shows the possibility that the use of candidate descriptor lists generated by new topic detection methods can be an effective tool in assisting indexers. In particular. the provision of candidate descriptor lists to help assignment of appropriate descriptors will contribute to the improvement of the effectiveness and accuracy of indexing.

A Primary Study on Building the Secondary Legal Information Full-Text Databases (2차 법률정보 전문데이터베이스 구축을 위한 기초 연구)

  • This study indicates that it is necessary to have characteristic information the information experts recognize-that is to say, experimental and inherent knowledge only human being can have built-in into the system rather than to approach the information system by the linguistic, statistic or structuralistic way, and it can be more essential and intelligent information system. As this study proves that the cited primary legal information within the secondary legal information functions as the index which represents the contents of the text because of the characteristics of legal information, the automatic indexing in the secondary legal full-text databases can be possible without the assitance of the experts. In case of the establishment, amendment or repealing of law, change of index terms can be possible through revising the legal text cited in the secondary legal information full-text databases. Even when we don't input the full-text about retrospective documents, automatic indexing is also possible, and the establishment and the practice of expert knowledge and integrated databases are possible in case of the retrospective documents.
