This study surveyed the visitors to the Seoseokdae Peak of the Mudeungsan National Park, to analyze the factors that affected user behavior, perception of the National Park, and satisfaction with the visit and establish the strategy for the management of the Mudeungsan National Park. The analysis result showed that Gwangju residents (78.1%) accounted for the majority of the visitors to the Seoseokdae Peak and that the Mudeungsan National Park showed the attributes of both mountain type and suburb type. Most visitors (91.2%) perceived that columnar joints, including the Seoseokdae Peak, possessed the largest resource value in the Mudeungsan National Park, and the visitors showed concern over the potential damage to vegetation in the Seoseokdae Peak as the result of the overcrowded visitors. Over half of the visitors showed a positive response to the measures like partially restricted access or detour of mountain path to preserve and restore the Seoseokdae Peak. The total visitors and the regional visitors (residents of Gwangju, Damyang, and Hwasun), indicated that the facility management aimed at facilitating visitor experience affected the most on the satisfaction with park management. Moreover, the regional visitors answered that the visit management to control disorder and overcrowding would increase satisfaction. The result of the importance-satisfaction analysis showed a difference between the total visitors and the regional visitors in needed improvements as the total visitors believed that "amenities and information facilities" should be improved while the regional visitors believed that the focus should be on the "prevention of illegal and disorderly behaviors" and the "amenities and information facilities."
The geology of the northwestern Cheju Island consist of Pleistocene to Holocene volcanic rocks which could be devided into basalt layers, the Sungsan Formation composed mainly of volcaniclastic debris exposed along the shoreline, and more than 30 cinder cones. Columnar joints and vesicles are dominant in the basalts of the Pyeosunri and the Sihungri basalt Formations. Volcaniclast and clay layers are intercalated in basaltic layers. When volcaniclast of the interlayers would be swept away by ground water and some caves of channel shape would be formaed. Overlying lavas cracked by columnar joints could be easily destroyed, collapsed and/or sunk. Geomechananical nature of the rocks such as strength may be controlled by the vesicularity(size, shape, and orientation of the vesicles) of the rocks. On the basis of vesicularity as a factor of strength, the effective strength ratio(Ke) could be calculated as Ke=0.3-0.72, in which the smaller Ke value reflects the lower in internal stress. In the studied area, the strength of the rocks tends to decrease as increasing in altitude of provenance of the rocks. The rocks in the area show relatively low values in angle of failure strength($\phi$) ranging from 10$^{\circ}$ to 30$^{\circ}$. In conclnsion, the rocks in question, majority of which the critical value exceeds 0.33, belong to the unstable rocks in the aspect of engineering geology.

Slopes of Seoseokdea~ Jangbuljae, at Mt. Moodeung, appears repeatedly the cliffs are mostly greater than $70^{\circ}$, and the planations maintain around $5^{\circ}$ in general. They studied the creation of development environments, cryoplanation are mainly facing the southwest. It is assumed that rock falling had been wostly occurred under a periglacial environment through jointing due to repeated freezing and thawing. Planation at the bottom of Columnar joint are described structural benches. Movement precesses of planation matrix are solifluction or jelifluction. The result of age determination of the slopes in Jangbuljae tells that the upper part of Ibseokdae has been remaining exposed to the land surface from 110,000 year ago. The blocks in the bottom part has been exposed to the surface around 10,000 year ago while Jangbuljae has been exposed to the surface about 50,000 year ago. It was assumed that they moved to the current location since being separated from columnar joint after exposure to the surface.

The volcanic edifice of Ulleungdo is largely divided into a shield volcano underwater and a tholoide above seawater. The geological features of the volcano above seawater are basically alkali volcanic rocks that are further divided into five geological strata: agglomerates and tuffs trachyte and phonolite trachytic pumice trachyandesite, and sedimentary layer. The topography of Ulleungdo consists of volcanic landform on the whole, and such volcanic landform is weathered and eroded into various weathering landform, stream landform, coastal landform, structural landform, etc. Major volcanic topography includes caldera basin, central cone, and columnar joint, whereas weathering topography features, tafoni, gnamma, tor, weathered cave, talus, etc. In major coastal topography are sea cliff, wave-cut platform, sea stack, sea arch, sea cave, shingle beach, coastal terrace, etc. For stream topography, its development is minimal except for waterfalls.
We investigate the geological history that formed geology and landscapes of the Juwangsan National Park and its surrounding areas. The Juwangsan area is composed of Precambrian gneisses, Paleozoic metasedimentary rocks, Permian to Triassic plutonic rocks, Early Mesozoic sedimentary rocks, Late Mesozoic plutonic and volcanic rocks, Cenozoic Tertiary rhyolites and Quaternary taluses. The Precambrian gneisses and Paleozoic metasedimentary rocks of the Ryeongnam massif occurs as xenolithes and roof-pendents in the Permian to Triassic Yeongdeok and Cheongsong plutonic rocks, which were formed as the Songrim orogeny by magmatic intrusions occurring in a subduction environment under the northeastern and western parts of the area before a continental collision between Sino-Korean and South China lands. The Cheongsong plutonic rocks were intruded by the Late Triassic granodiorite, which include to be metamorphosed as an orthogneiss. The granodiorite includes geosites of orbicular structure and mineral spring. During the Cretaceous, the Gyeongsang Basin and Gyeongsang arc were formed by a subduction of the Izanagi plate below East Asia continent in the southeastern Korean Peninsula. The Gyeongsang Basin was developed to separate into Yeongyang and Cheongsong subbasins, in which deposited Dongwach/Hupyeongdong Formation, Gasongdong/Jeomgok Formation, and Dogyedong/Sagok Formation in turn. There was intercalated by the Daejeonsa Basalt in the upper part of Dogyedong Formation in Juwangsan entrance. During the Late Cretaceous 75~77 Ma, the Bunam granitoid stock, which consists of various lithofacies in southwestern part, was made by a plutonism that was mixing to have an injection of mafic magma into felsic magma. During the latest Cretaceous, the volcanic rocks were made by several volcanisms from ubiquitous andesitic and rhyolitic magmas, and stratigraphically consist of Ipbong Andesite derived from Dalsan, Jipum Volcanics from Jipum, Naeyeonsan Tuff from Cheongha, Juwangsan Tuff from Dalsan, Neogudong Formation and Muposan Tuff. Especially the Juwangsan Tuff includes many beautiful cliffs, cayon, caves and falls because of vertical columnar joints by cooling in the dense welding zone. During the Cenozoic Tertiary, rhyolite intrusions formed lacolith, stocks and dykes in many sites. Especially many rhyolite dykes make a radial Cheongsong dyke swarm, of which spherulitic rhyolite dykes have various floral patterns. During the Quaternary, some taluses have been developed down the cliffs of Jungtaesan lacolith and Muposan Tuff.
The Miocene volcanic rocks in the Dangsari area, eastern part of Ulsan city, are mainly composed of andesite lava flows and pyroclastic rocks. The andesite lavas are identified as two-pyroxone andesite, comprising phenocrysts of augite ($Wo_{43.2}$$En_{41.0}$$Fs_{15.8}$ ) and hyperthene ($Wo_{2.7}$$65.8_{En}$$_{Fs}$ 31.5). The andesitic pyroclastic rocks are largely composed of pyroclastic breccias with alternating tuff-breccia and lapilli tuff, which showing planar layering, and minor amount of andesitic tuff with thin deposits of interlayered tuffaceous shale. According to the petrochemical data, andesitic rocks belong to medium-K calc-alkaline andesite. The position of bulk composition on the AFM diagram and the presence of normative quartz and hypersthene indicate that the volcanic rocks are calc-alkaline. The trace element composition and REE patterns of andesite, which are characterized by a high LILE/HFSE ratio and enrichment in LREE, suggest that they are typical of continental margin arc calc-alkalic volcanic rocks produced in the subduction environment. On the discrimination diagram, the Dangsari volcanic rocks fall into the fields of subduction related continental margin arc volcanic province. The primary magic melts may be derived from about 15% partial melting of mantle wedge in the upper mantle under destructive plate margin. And the melt evolved to calc-alkaline andesite magma by fractional crystallization and the magma was a little contaminated with crustal materials.
The discharge characteristics of the Seodo Mulgol Spring-the only groundwater-producing area in Dokdo-were evaluated by measurements of discharge rate and electrical conductivity (EC) on five occasions. The Seodo Mulgol Spring is fed by rainfall in upstream areas of the Mulgol cave, and the rainwater of the area moves down along cooling joints developed in trachyandesite II and trachyte, finally discharging at the Mulgol cave. The discharge rate of the Seodo Mulgol Spring varied from 1.12 to 7.02 $m^3/d$ during the study period and EC varied from 2,650 to 3,390 ${\mu}S/cm$, showing a sharp increase during heavy rainfall. The observed variations in discharge rate and EC at the Seodo Mulgol Spring are attributed to the relatively short distance between the recharge area and the Mulgol cave, and to the rapid movement of groundwater through columnar joints developed in trachyandesite II and trachyte. Additional discharge measurements, combined with precise rainfall data, are required at Dokdo to elucidate the discharge characteristics of the Seodo Mulgol Spring.

Mt. Apsan is well known to be one of the most popular tourist sites around Daegu. Annually, more than 16 million persons visit Mt. Apsan. Although, in the mountain there are varieties of geomorphic and geological resources, there has been less concern to utilize the resources for geo-tourism. For example, there are about 10 valleys within Mt. Apsan and various landforms are scattered around the valleys. In this context, this study, based on field surveys centering around Gosangol valley, Anjiranggol valley and Dalbigol valley, focuses on exploring ways towards developing Mt. Apsan as an example geo-tourist site. The main findings are as follows: 1) The main landforms of Mt. Apsan include river cliff, cavern, free face, mud crack, ripple mark, fold, sheeting joint, talus, alluvial fan, pot hole, fault line, gnamma, columnar joint and metamorphic rock. 2) The guide notes on the landforms are developed. 3) In order to raise a learning effect of visitors on geomorphic resources, 9 nature trails are designed according to valleys and the length of visitor's stay.

This study aimed to explore the geo-educational value of Deokmyeong-ri in Goseong-gun, Gyeongsangnamdo, through field research. The study area comprises well-exposed outcrops, which can be used as field sites during field trip for studying sedimentary structures (normal grading bedding, cross bedding, ripple, and desiccation crack), coastal depositional environments (coastal cliff, shore platform, and gravel beach), basic principles of relative dating (unconformity, fault, intrusion, and xenolith), and columnar joints. This study evaluated the field sites based on the achievement standards and textbooks used in the science curriculum. The field sites have a high educational value because they exhibit typicality, as mentioned in the textbook, and provide study materials for enrichment learning. Furthermore, Deokmyeong-ri Area has well-developed tourist and educational infrastructures; thus, it is a safe place for geological education.
