The increase in the number of ships entering and leaving the port and the creation of various cargo volumes can promote local economy and lead to regional development, attracting businesses, and influx of local residents. The port area of Dangjin consists of the limited cargo and most private docks, making it increasingly weak in meeting the local economic development and the expectations of local residents. Therefore, in order to promote regional development and revitalize the local economy, and to reduce the sense of alienation of local residents, it is necessary to make it easier to access and water to ports through the development of all areas of Eumseompo-gu, and to make active changes in the marine and port logistics environment. As seen through various cases of port development at home and abroad and the redevelopment of the ports at Gohyeon Port in Geoje, Dangjin Port should be able to quickly demonstrate the development of the Dangjin Port area and improve the quality of life for the residents of the metropolitan area. This is the time when the government's drive is highly requested.

Traditional ODA to North Korea (NK) has been unsustainable and politically contentious. This study proposes the design of appropriate technology (AT) as an alternative. We identified NK residents' urgent needs and global AT instances, and classified data by Maslow's hierarchy of needs. As electricity and potable water were identified as primary needs, suitable AT cases were selected. Given NK's extreme isolation, collaborative AT practices with local residents are unfeasible. Therefore we propose a new AT adoption model customized to NK, which emphasizes community-level adoption. We proposed a solar charging station for cooperative farms, a re-design of an AT previously utilized in Africa, and tailored it to fit our proposed model. The study's significance lies in its novel AT adoption model for NK's unique social fabric and the proposition of a specific design case, thus transcending previous relevant studies exploring AT's potential for NK.

The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of an eight session self-management support program for improvement of patient activation, joint flexibility and health-related quality of life among medical aid beneficiaries with osteoarthritis. This study was part of a randomized and controlled research of a self-management support intervention. Participants were 60 medical aid beneficiaries who agreed to participate in this study, and were assigned to an experimental group (n=30) or control group (n=30). The 8-session and tailored program led by a trained case manager with the patient-centered approaches and cognitive-emotional-behavioral skills. Analysis included change in scores, ${\chi}^2-test$, Fisher's exact test, t-test and ANCOVA. The results showed significant increase in patient activation, joint flexibility (shoulder and right knee) except health-related quality of life in the experimental group compared to the control group. The self-management support program indicated an effect on patient activation and joint flexibility. Further research is needed to examine the outcome in the long term(9 and 12-month follow up).

The piezoelectric energy harvester is recently being developed and catching on as a way to achieve low carbon green growth. The practical application of the piezoelectric energy harvester is expected to contribute not only to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions but also to the improvement of residents' welfare. This paper conducted a cost-benefit analysis for the installation of piezoelectric energy harvester on the highway focusing on its impacts on the public. The results showed that the installation of piezoelectric energy harvester on the gyeongbu highway is economically feasible in that it could increase the social welfare for the residents. Finally, this paper suggests policy direction for the practical use of the piezoelectric energy harvester, based on the results obtained.

The mission of public library is to contribute to local society's growth and improve local residents' quality of life by satisfying local residents' desire on information use, cultural activities, lifelong education, etc, and providing more convenient and equal access. This study is a research that deducted BSC-based public library performance indicator model composed of 12 critical success factors, 36 key performance indicators under four perspectives of learning and growth perspective, internal process perspective, resources perspective, and user perspective, estimated relative weights of deducted the performance indicator model on librarians of public libraries to analyze what performance indicator is important for accomplishing public library's mission and promoting performance.

삶의 질을 향상시키기 위한 유비쿼터스 테크놀로지 도입으로 인해 제품개발, 주거, 상업시설 등에서 시작하여 최근 유비쿼터스 환경 구축의 일환으로 u-City 구현에 중점을 두고 많은 연구 진행되고 있다. 그 중 가로환경 디자인은 공공 시설로서 유비쿼터스 환경 구축의 중요한 이슈가 되고 있다. 그러나, 오늘날 가로 공간은 그 수가 양적으로 팽창되었을 뿐 각각의 특색에 맞게 조성되고 있지는 못하며, 물리적 환경개선에 중점을 두어 단순한 가로정비 수준에 머물고 있다. 이로 인해 지역주민과 이용자 중심의 참여에는 부족한 면이 많았다. 이에 본 연구는 유비쿼터스 테크놀로지를 도입하여 보다 실용적이고 현실 참여적인 공간으로 디자인함으로써 새로운 u-Street 디자인을 제안하고자 한다. 또한, 이와 같은 공공장소에서의 서비스가 이용자들과 어떠한 인터렉티브 커뮤니케이션을 가질 수 있을지에 대해 살펴보고 이를 디자인에 반영하여 공간이 인간과의 상호작용을 원활히 하고 감성적인 공간 디자인이 될 수 있도록 u-Service 를 개발하는 데 중점을 두고자 한다. 본 연구는 부산 광복로를 사례로 진행되었으며, 그 결과 다음과 같은 측면에서 기대효과를 예측할 수 있다. 첫째, u-City 의 기반 시설로서의 u-Street는 수평적이고 친환경적인 가로 경험을 통해 사람이 직접 여러 서비스와 인터렉션할 수 있다. 둘째, 본 연구에 제안된 u-Service 는 이전 광복로의 침체되고 비활동적인 공간을 활동적이고 생동감있는 공간으로 재활성화시키는데 중요한 매개체로서의 역할을 하게 될 것이다. 셋째, 주민과 이용자들의 적극적인 참여를 유도하여 지속적인 공간을 만들어 내는 데 크게 기여할 것이다.

This paper is investigated to awareness and assessment by festival participants' to significance of lacal festival in "Andong International Mask Dance 2011". As results, first, demographic characteristics of festival participants' in case study are that dominated participants' were tewnties to fourties consisting consanguine and graduates. There is almost same rate in demographic characteristics. Second, the results of questionnaire for characteristics of local festival are that positive responds was dominated at degree of using and respect of local culture resources and main theme reflected to festival. Third, questionnaire items of the significants of local festival are participation desire and real participation rates of citizen to local festival, contribution rate of citizenry reconciliation, effects of regional marketing and increasing regional image, local economy development and rate of improving people's quality of cultural life. In these item, effects of reginal marketing is most positive response by Andong citizen and outsiders. And positive response of economical effects is higher outsiders then citizen. However, the contribution rate of citizenry reconciliation is lower then other items to positive response. Therefore, methods of regoinal embeddedness of case festival are evaluating life quality of local citizen by local festival and leading active participation of local people to local festival.

This research had selected current rural village development projects with the representative meaning of rural regional development projects in order to analyze results of projects and various policies of the government to enhance the quality of resident life and to develop rural regions. For the analysis, this research had selected 2 districts of the case study in Gyeongnam-province and Jeonnam-province, respectively. In the result of the satisfaction analysis on the projects, it was considerably difficult to analyze satisfaction degree by using a clear distinction of each region type when promoting overall project. However, this research confirmed that there were some differences about residents' understanding of the project and satisfaction degree in the process of projects according to the regional characteristics (rural and mountain areas). In general, two districts' residents of rural areas expressed relatively more negative feedbacks in process of the project compared to two district residents of mountain areas. This research suggested that it is needed to have residents' understanding of the project, a restoration of village community spirit to help each other and to cooperate, fostering a desirable leader, establishing effective village regulations, transition into an open and inclusive attitude, promoting rural village development project, and realization of the operating method in order to have an amicable project process in the future.

The purpose is to measure the level of quality of life and find the degree of importance of various elements of life domains taking into the area of residence and sex account. this paper is assuming that quality of life is a function of not only of the level of satisfaction but also of the relative importance of the elements. An instrument based on previous research was applied to 686 respondents living in Kyungsan area. Regression analysis indicates that the relative importance of the elements differes between the area of residence as well as the sex of the respondents. Similarities and differences between those factors are discussed and policy implications are porvided.
