Prediction of the Equivalent Coefficient of Thermal Expansion of Fiber Reinforced Plastic Lamina and Thermal Pointing Error Analysis of Satellites (섬유강화 복합재료 등가열팽창계수 예측 및 인공위성 열지향오차 해석)

  • In this paper, the equivalent coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of fiber reinforced plastic composite material is investigated with various CTE prediction schemes. Although there are several methods for predicting the equivalent CTEs, most of them have some limitations of are not much accurate when comparing prediction results with test results. In the framework of computational homogenization, a representative volume element is taken from the predefined fiber-volume ratio, and modelled with finite element mesh. Finally, the equivalent CTEs are obtained by applying periodic boundary condition. To verify the performance of the proposed method, the results obtained are compared with those by the existing methods and test results. Additionally, the thermal pointing error analysis for star tracker support structure is conducted and its accuracy is estimated according to CTE prediction schemes.

  • Shipbuilders carry out the operation test to check the conditions of the main propulsion system and auxiliaries for moored vessel in the quoy before the sea trial. The estimation of the thrust and torque for the partially submerged propeller should be prepared to ensure the safety of mooring line and the ship. In this paper, the variations of the thrust and torque according to the shaft submergence and the propeller rotating speed in bollard pull condition are investigated with the model test and the numerical analysis. Based on these resaearch, the empirical formula representing the physical phenomena of the partially submerged propeller is derived and validated through comparison to measurement results of full-scale propellers under the quoy operation test.

  • For the Earth observation satellite for ISR mission, a satellite constellation can be utilized to observe a specific area periodically and ultimately increase the effectiveness of the mission. The Walker-Delta method was applied to design constellation orbits with four satellites, which could detect abnormal activities in AoI(Area of Interest). To evaluate the effectiveness of the mission, a revisiting time was selected as a key requirement. This paper presents the mission analysis process for four SAR satellites constellation as well as the result of constellation configuration design to meet the requirements. Figure of Merits analysis was performed based on algorithm developed. Finally, it was confirmed that the constellation orbit with four different orbital planes is likely to be appropriate for ISR mission.

  • 신호교차로 운영 최적화를 위한 4가지 변수인 주기, 현시순서, 현시녹색시간, 옵셋 중에서 지금 지 정형화된 지침이 없이 전문가의 경험이나 휴리스틱한 규칙(Heuristic rule)에 의해 결정되었던 현시순서에 대해 다양한 교통조건을 고려하여 최적현시와 지체변화를 분석하였다. 교통조건은 독립/연동교차로, 교차로 기하구조, 비혼잡/혼잡상태, 통과교통량에 대한 좌회전 교통량비(LT/Thru)에 따라 Dual ring에서 구현가능한 모든 현시순서를 대상으로 최적현시를 도출하였다. 분석과정에서 비혼잡상태의 경우 LT/Thru가 작을수록 직진 중첩 동시신호가 가장 우수하게 나왔으며, LT/Thru가 크게 증가할수록 선행양방향좌회전이 양호하게 나타났다. 혼잡상태의 경우는 LT/Thru 15%에서 공통적으로 최적현시가 변하였는데 이는 포화도와 이동류별 녹색시간비율이 크게 변하면서 급작스런 주기 증가에 기인한 것으로 판단되었다. 또한 독립교차로 및 연동교차로 현시순서 분석 결과를 보면 전반적으로 선행양방좌회전 현시와 직진 중첩 동시신호 현시가 가장 양호한 것으로 나타났으며, 양방 동시신호 현시는 대체로 지체가 높게 나타나 신호운영에 비효율적인 것을 다시 한번 입증하게 되었다. 특히 연동교차로에서는 연동에 중요한 요소인 옵셋과 진행대폭(bandwidth)의 상호관계를 탄력적으로 대응할 수 있는 직진 중첩 동시신호가 최적현시로 나타났다. 본 연구는 검지기가 설치되지 않은 고정식 신호기로 운영되는 지방부 및 도시 가로망의 교통류 효율성을 높이는 중요한 자료로 사용될 것으로 판단된다. 최근에는 실시간 교통신호 제어시스템이 활발히 연구. 운영되고 있는데 이 시스템 내에 포함되어 있는 TOD방식의 고정시간 제어(pretimed control)나 패턴선택제어(pattern selection control)에도 충분히 활용할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

  • Site coefficient and amplification factor of current domestic Seismic Design Code (KBC-2009) have no consideration for the domestic ground condition in which the base rock is normally placed within 30m form the surface. Accordingly, in this study dynamic centrifugal test and analysis for pile foundation into sand and upper structure were achieved. and the response spectrums of free surface and basement were compared with each other. Within the period 1 sec., the measured spectral acceleration of free surface and basement was bigger than the design spectral acceleration of SC and SD site. However the measured spectral acceleration of free surface and basement for the period over 1.5 sec. was smaller than the design spectral acceleration of SC site. There was no severe difference of spectral acceleration according to the upper structure, embedded depth of foundation and free surface conditions. Consequently, normal domestic apartment housing for the period range over 1.5sec. could be design more economically applying these test result.

  • Two-dimensional laminar numerical analyses were carried out for investigating the thermo-hydraulic characteristics of wavy channels with different shape parameters ($0.5{\leq}{\in}{\leq}1.5$, $0.1{\leq}{\gamma}{\leq}0.4$). PAO (polyalphaolefin), which is used for electronics cooling, is considered as the working fluid. In addition, constant properties, periodically developed flow, and uniform channel wall temperature conditions are assumed. Streamline and temperature fields, isothermal Fanning friction factors, and Colburn factors are presented for different Reynolds numbers in the laminar region ($1{\leq}Re{\leq}1000$). The results show that heat transfer is enhanced when the channel corrugation ratio (${\gamma}$) is large and channel spacing ratio (${\in}$) is small in the low Reynolds number region (Re < 50) and when ${\in}$ and ${\gamma}$ are large in the high Reynolds number region ($Re{\geq}50$).

  • Domestic masonry railroad tunnel lining consists of red bricks or granite stone blocks and mortar. It is necessary to evaluate the behaviour of the masonry tunnel lining during an earthquake because the lining was constructed without the consideration of seismic loads. In this study, a methodology to evaluate the seismic resistant capacity of masonry tunnel linings was proposed, i.e. material property evaluation and seismic analysis technique. The red brick masonry tunnel lining is arrayed with multi-layers composed of 3 to 5 bricks depending on ground conditions and each brick is attached with mortar. Equivalent property concept was adopted to consider the stiffness difference among the red brick material itself and joints between bricks. Response spectrum analysis was performed by considering ground-structure interactions. A parametric study was performed to figure out the effect of relative stiffness between the lining and rock mass on the seismic behavior. A resonable countermeasure to minimize the earthquake-induced damage was also proposed.

  • Recently with the ever increasing growth of data communication, the need for security and privacy has become a necessity. The advent of wireless communication and other handheld devices like Personal Digital Assistants and smart cards have made the implementation of cryptosystems a major issue. The Cellular Automata(CA) can be programmed to implement hardware sharing between the encryption and decryption. In this paper, we give conditions for a linear hybrid cellular automata with 60, 102 or 204 to be a linear hybrid group cellular automata C. And we present the conditions which the complemented hybrid group cellular automata C' with complement vectors derived from C has maximum equal lengths in the state transition diagram of C' Also we analyze the relationship among cycles of C' These results generalize Mukhopadhyay's results.

  • In this paper, the equivalent elastic properties of fiber reinforced plastic laminar are investigated using various homogenization schemes. Although there are several methods for predicting the equivalent elastic properties such as analytical formula or semi-empirical formula, most of them have some limitations or are not much accurate when handling new composite material consisting of various fiber, matrix and fiber-volume fraction ratio. To resolve the issues, computational homogenization scheme is adopted with a representative volume element (RVE) comprised of a set of finite elements. Finally, the equivalent elastic properties are obtained by applying periodic boundary conditions. The obtained results are compared with those by the existing methods and test results. Also its effect on structural analysis results of the composite satellite panel is investigated.

Wave Overtopping Formula for Vertical Structure Including Effects of Wave Period : Non-breaking Conditions (주기영향을 고려한 직립식 구조물의 월파량 산정 : 비쇄파조건)

  • Two-dimensional hydraulic experiments for wave overtopping under non-breaking wave condition are conducted. The wave overtopping formula for vertical structure is suggested and the results are compared with EurOtop (2007). The relative water depth coefficient (${\gamma}_{kh}$) shows that almost the same coefficient is obtained for certain range (kh > 1.55) regardless of relative water depth, that is, although the relative water depth becomes larger, the relative water depth coefficient is almost same. When the wave steepness becomes larger the wave steepness coefficient decreases. The overtopping formula are expressed by relative freeboard(R) and non-dimensional wave overtopping rate(Q) and this formula has the form of exponential function. In this formula, the effects of wave period on wave overtopping are quantitatively investigated and suggested through the relative water depth coefficient(${\gamma}_{kh}$) and wave steepness coefficient(${\gamma}_s$).
