In this paper, a parallel backoff delay procedure on multiple IEEE 802.15.4 channels and a channel searching method considering the frequency spectrum of WiFi traffic are studied for IEEE 802.15.4 nodes to avoid the interference from WiFi traffic. In order to search the channels being occupied by WiFi traffic, we analyzed the methods measuring the powers of adjacent channels simultaneously, checking the duration of measured power levels greater than a threshold, and finding the same periodicity of sampled RSSI data as the beacon frame by signal processing. In an wireless channel overlapped with IEEE 802.11 network, the operation of CSMA-CA algorithm for IEEE 802.15.4 nodes is explained. A method to execute a parallel backoff procedure on multiples IEEE 802.15.4 channels by an IEEE 802.15.4 device is proposed with the description of its algorithm. When we analyze the data measured by the experimental system implemented with the proposed method, it is observed that medium access delay times increase at the same time in the associated IEEE 802.15.4 channels that are adjacent each other during the generation of WiFi traffic. A channel evaluation function to decide the interference from other traffic on an IEEE 802.15.4 channel is defined. A channel searching method considering the channel evaluations on the adjacent channels together is proposed in order to search the IEEE 802.15.4 channels interfered by WiFi, and the experimental results show that it correctly finds the channels interfered by WiFi traffic.
The characteristics of the Asian summer monsoon have been investigated for the periods of 1993/1994, the contrasting years in a view of the summer monsoon precipitation. In order to investigate the monsoon features over the eastern Asian monsoon region, the cloudiness(using the extensive data derived by the geostationary meteorological satellite), the condition of underlying surface including sea-surface temperature, and the summer rainfall are analyzed and some comparisons with 1993 and 1994 are also made and the characteristic differences are discussed. An analysis of the 2-degree latitude-longitude gridded 5-day mean high cloud amount data shows the detailed movement and persistence of the convective activities. In order to describe the spatial and temporal structures of the intraseasonal oscillation for the movement and evolution of the monsoon cloud, the extended empirical orthogonal fnction analysis with the twenty-day window size is used for the each year. Also, in order to find out the periodicity of the equatorial convective cluster, Fourier harmonic analysis is applied to the each year. The most prevailing intraseasonal oscillations of high cloud amount are 61 day mode and 15day mode in the equatorial and the subtropical oceans. However it was found that the most prevailing modes over the equatorial western Pacific and Indian Ocean were different for each year, hence raising the possibillity that the contrasting monsoon presipitation may be more fundamentally related to the interaction of intraseasonal oscillations and seasonal variation of convective activities over the lower latitude ocean.
Losses of both life and property increased from damage to underground pipe such as heat transmission pipe buried underground in downtown because pipes are gradually aging. Considering the characteristics of the heat transmission pipe, which is not exposed to the outside and difficult to immediately identify problems such as damage, it is realistic to indirectly check the condition of the facility based on the historical information that is periodically collected through facility maintenance. In this study, a methodology for estimating the damage probability was developed by examining the history information of the heat transmission pipe, deriving an evaluation factor that is related to the damage probability. The contribution factor of the damage probability were reviewed by analyzing not only the guidelines for maintenance of heat transmission pipe of advanced European countries and domestic district heating companies, but also the cases of waterworks with similar characteristics. Evaluation factors were selected by considering not only the correlation with the damage probability but also the possibility of securing data. Based on 1999, when the construction technology and standards of heat transmission pipe changed, the damage probability estimation function according to the period of use was divided into the case of being buried before 1998 and the case of being buried after 1999, and presented. In addition, the damage probability was corrected by assigning weights according to the measured data for each evaluation factor such as the diameter, use, and management authority.
This paper is based on the effects of Zone of Proximal Development and scaffolding theory of social constructivist, Russian psychologist Vygotsky. He insisted that a social interaction play a fundamental role in the development of cognition. This study is to examine the efficient of the scaffolding types in Math class. The ZPD is the distance between a student's ability to perform a task under adult guidances or with peer collaboration and the student's ability solving the problem independently. To conduct the research was grouped into an experimental first grader five students in H high school in Y county. After class, students were questioned through Semi-structured interviews. The results of this study are below. First, Students were satisfied with the class mixed micro-scaffolding types and Macro-scaffolding types and improved their math thinking ability and the ways of solving problems. Second, The results of the class showed that students' ability to perform a task was transferred to the higher level through the help of a teacher or peers. Students could have more time to listen to peers' opinions and to say their own thoughts freely than they were under the lecture method instruction. Third, Students were interested in math through the experimental class. That's because the appropriate help of the scaffolding type, a cooperate study, relative with real life, using an engineering tools. They made a change of perception.

Due to climate change, parts of Korea are experiencing large and small droughts every 2-3 years and extreme droughts every 7 years. Since most droughts occur mainly in areas where small water supply facilities in the tributaries or upstream are located, more research on technology for securing water in these areas is required. In this study, a drought evaluation using SPEI (Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index), SDI (Streamflow Drought Index), and WBDI (Water Budget-based Drought Index) was performed to investigate hydrological drought in the Mulrocheon watershed of Chuncheon, a vulnerable area in terms of water supply. As a result of calculating hydrological drought indices SPEI and SDI, examining each duration, it was confirmed that the common drought in 2014 did not recover and continued until 2015. In the hydrological drought index evaluation result by WBDI, a very severe drought condition was observed in the spring of 2015 following 2014, and that drought was the most severe at -1.94 in November 2017. As a result of deriving a SDF (Severity-Duration-Frequency) curve through frequency analysis by duration using the drought index calculated on a monthly basis from 2003 to 2019 (17 years), most droughts in the Mulrocheon watershed were found to have a return period of less than 10 years, but droughts that occurred in 2014, 2015, and 2019 were found to cover more than 20 years, respectively.
The scope of this paper covers the applications of bender element tests in consolidation, tomography, and liquefaction. Loading and unloading time during consolidation are evaluated based on shear wave velocity. As S-wave velocity is dependent on effective stress, the loading step may be determined. However, cautions are required due to the different mechanism between the settlement and effective stress criteria. The stress history may be evaluated because the S-wave shows the cement controlled regime and stress controlled regimes. A fixed frame complemented with bender elements permits S-wave tomography The tomography system is tested at low confinement within a true triaxial cell. Results show that shear wave velocity tomography permits monitoring changes in the velocity field which is related to the average effective stress. To monitor the liquefaction phenomenon, S-wave trans-illumination is implemented with a high repetition rate to provide detailed information on the evolution of shear stiffness during liquefaction. The evolution of shear wave propagation velocity and attenuation parallel the time-history of excess pore pressure during liquefaction. Applications discussed in this paper show that bender elements can be a very effective tool for the detection of shear waves in the laboratory.

In this study, rail surface defects are increasing due to the aging of urban railway rails, but in the detailed guidelines for track performance evaluation established by the country, rail surface damage is inspected with the naked eye of engineers and simple measuring tools. With the recent enactment of the Track Diagnosis Act, a large budget has been invested and the volume of rail diagnosis is rapidly increasing, but it is difficult to secure the reliability of diagnosis results using labor-intensive visual inspection techniques. It is very important to discover defects in the rail surface through periodic track tours and visual inspection. However, evaluating the severity of defects on the rail surface based on the subjective judgment of the inspector has significant limitations in predicting damage inside the rail. In this study, the rail internal crack characteristics due to rail surface damage were studied. In field measurements, rail surface damage locations were selected, samples of various damage types were collected, and the rail surface damage status was evaluated. In indoor testing, we intend to analyze the correlation between rail surface defects and internal defects using a electron scanning microscope (SEM). To determine the crack growth rate of urban railway rails currently in use, the Gaussian probability density function was applied and analyzed.
This study aimed at evaluating one curvilinear equation and nine non-linear equations for estimating stand growth characteristics(mean dbh, mean height and volume per ha) for the plantations of Pinus koraiensis and the natural stands of Quercus mongolica. The data were collected from 92 plots in Pines koraiensis stands and 83 plots in Quercus mongolica stands, and the site index of all the stands is 14. The curvilinear equation, $Y=at^be^{-c/t}$, used in preparing the yield tables was well fitted within the range of data, but was likely to give overestimates when extrapolating in old stage due to the tendency of linear increase. Among the non-linear equations, logistic equation and Sloboda equation gave overestimates in young stands and reached the asymptotic status early which means underestimates in old stage. Extrapolating in old stage, Hossfeld equation generally gave larger values than others due to its large estimates of parameter a, the maximum value. On the other hand, Bertalanffy equation gave underestimates in young and old stands and overestimates in middle-aged stands. The estimates with Korf equation was relatively low for Pinus koraiensis stands, and this tendency was more obvious in dbh growth of Quercus mongolica stands. Ueno-Ohzaki equation was liable to give over or underestimates depending on the value of parameter b when extrapolating in old stands. Considering the accuracy of estimates and the biological base of the growth equations, Gompertz equation, Chapman-Richards equation and Weibull equation were generally applicable for estimating the stand growth characteristics of both species in the whole range of stand ages including extrapolated range. To get more accurate and precise parameter estimates, more data, especially in old stands, should be required in further study.
Respiratory gated radiation therapy and stereotactic body radiation therapy require identical tumor motions during each treatment with the motion detected in treatment planning CT. Therefore, this study developed a tumor motion monitoring and analysis system during the treatments employing RPM data, gated setup OBI images and a data analysis software. A respiratory training and guiding program which improves the regularity of breathing was used to patients. The breathing signal was obtained by RPM and the recorded data in the 4D console was read after treatment. The setup OBI images obtained gated at 0% and 50% of breathing phases were used to detect the tumor motion range in crenio-caudal direction. By matching the RPM data recorded at the OBI imaging time, a factor which converts the RPM motion to the tumor motion was computed. RPM data was entered to the institute developed data analysis software and the maximum, minimum, average of the breathing motion as well as the standard deviation of motion amplitude and period was computed. The computed result is exported in an excel file. The conversion factor was applied to the analyzed data to estimate the tumor motion. The accuracy of the developed method was tested by using a moving phantom, and the efficacy was evaluated for 10 stereotactic body radiation therapy patients. For the sine wave motion of the phantom with 4 sec of period and 2 cm of peak-to-peak amplitude, the measurement was slightly larger (4.052 sec) and the amplitude was smaller (1.952 cm). For patient treatment, one patient was evaluated not to qualified to SBRT due to the usability of the breathing, and in one patient case, the treatment was changed to respiratory gated treatment due the larger motion range of the tumor than treatment planed motion. The developed method and data analysis program was useful to estimate the tumor motion during treatment.
In this study, the short-term variability of methane concentrations were investigated over 24-hr scale. The data obtained form the Moo-Ahn (MAN) station located in the western coastal area of Korea were analyzed from various respects to describe its distribution characteristics over short term scale. The MAN data were compared with those obtained from the two major background observatory sites: Point Barrow (Alaska) and Mauna Loa (Hawaii). The mean concentration of methane for the whole study period, when computed using the daily mean values, was found to be 1898${\pm}$85.3ppb (N=812). The mean values for the two comparable sites were observed to be 1832${\pm}$29.6ppb (N=823) for Point Barrow and 1745${\pm}$14.8ppb (N=818) for Mauna Loa. According to the analysis of frequency distribution. the mode value for the MAN area is found to be 1900ppb, but the mean concentration for Point Barrow and Mauna Loa are shown to have relatively low values of 1850 and 1750ppb, respectively. When examined over diurnal scale, the CH$_4$data for the MAN area exhibit a rather consistent trend; CH$_4$level is low during the daytime (after 6:00 A.M) and rises during the nighttime. The findings of the generally enhanced methane concentration in the MAN station may be explained form various respects. One of the most important reasons is that the MAN area is under the influence of various source processes relative to all the other stations under consideration. The short-term distribution patterns for the MAN station are hence characterized not only by the high methane concentration but also by the high oscillation in its CH$_4$concentration level.
