Recently K-Pop gained worldwide sensational popularity, no longer limited to the domestic pop music scene. One of the main causes can be that K-Pop mostly are "Hook Song" which has the "hook effect": a certain melody or/and rhythm is repeated up to 70 times in one song so that it hooks the ear of the listener. Also, visual effects by K-Pop dance group are supposed to contribute to gaining the popularity. In this paper, we propose a method which traces the changes of preference for Korean pop music according to the passing of time and investigates the causes using acoustic signal analysis. For this, experiments in acoustic signal analysis are performed on Korean pop music of from popular female singers in 1960s to those as of this date. Experimental results by applying acoustic signal processing techniques show that the periods discrimination is possible based on scientific evidences. Also, quantitative, objective and numerical data based on acoustic signal processing techniques are extracted compared with the pre-existing methods such as subjective and statistical data.

Recently various construction management systems are applied for more efficient project management, and through them as-built construction information is collected. However, the accuracy of the collected information shows big differences among projects, since tile collection of tile as-built information is not based on objective manner or criteria and also each management personnel uses difference criteria on this based on individual experiences. This initiates the need for a development of methods and information frameworks for efficient collection and management of as-built information with assurance of data accuracy. Therefor the objective of this study is to suggest a method to determine the task performance measurement unit depending on the characteristics of work types. A prototype system was developed for generating task performance measurement units by utilizing MS ACCESS. The information framework and the system developed in this research is expected to help standardized performance measurements across projects by improving the objectivity and the accuracy of the collected information.

Deinterlacing is a method to convert interlaced video, including two fields (even and odd), to progressive video. It can be divided into spatial and temporal methods. The deinterlacing method in the spatial domain can easily be hardware-implemented, but yields image degradation if information about the deinterlaced pixel does not exist in the same field. On the other hand, the method in the temporal domain yields a deinterlaced image with higher quality but uses more memory, and hardware implementation is more difficult. Furthermore, the deinterlacing method in the temporal domain degrades image quality when motion is not estimated properly. The proposed method is for deinterlacing in the spatial domain. It uses several deinterlacing methods according to statistical characteristics in neighboring pixel locations. In this procedure, the proposed method uses the C4.5 algorithm, a typical classification algorithm based on entropy for choosing optimal methods from among the candidates. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms previous deinterlacing methods in terms of objective and subjective image quality.

In this paper, we propose a novel objective video quality assessment method from encoded H.264/AVC.. Conventional algorithms have been proposed to assess video/image quality with image frames reconstructed in a decoder side. On the other hand, the proposed assessment is conducted with the syntax elements which are embedded in a bitstream. The proposed BS-based algorithm makes use of the statistics of boundary strength(BS) which are employed in the H.264/AVC. The proposed algorithm has lower computational complexity than conventional methods, EPSNR and Blockiness, resulting that it can accomplish assessment of the video quality in real time. Furthermore, the accuracy of the proposed video quality assessment is about 32% and 65% better than several conventional algorithms.
Since most of studies for information efficiency measurement of healthcare organizations have mainly focused on searching a measuring standard used for performance of informatization and each researchers subjective standard having been used, they can not be easily measured and objective. This study showed a possibility that efficiency measurement of healthcare organization can be performed by solving a problem related to objectiveness, which may occur in measuring many organization with many measuring items, with DEA (data envelopment analysis). For proving this possibility, efficiency evaluation and analysis for information resources utilization of domestic tertiary healthcare organizations have been performed by using DEA model. As a result, DMU (decision making unit) having efficiency rate of 1 will be evaluated that output is higher than input and information resources are being used efficiently, but on the other hand, DMU having efficiency rate of below 1 will be evaluated that output is lower than input and information resources are being used inefficiently, which is required to be improved.

The damage investigation and inspection methods performed in concrete facilities such as bridges, tunnels, retaining walls and so on, are usually visually examined by the inspector using the surveying tool in the field. These methods highly depend on the subjectivity of the inspector, which may reduce the objectivity and reliability of the record. Therefore, the new image processing techniques are necessary in order to automatically detect the cracks and objectively analyze the characteristics of cracks. In this study, deep learning and image processing technique were developed to detect cracks and analyze characteristics in images for concrete facilities. Two-stage image processing pipeline was proposed to obtain crack segmentation and its characteristics. The performance of the method was tested using various crack images with a label and the results showed over 90% of accuracy on crack classification and segmentation. Finally, the crack characteristics (length and thickness) of the crack image pictured from the field were analyzed, and the performance of the developed technique was verified by comparing the actual measured values and errors.
This paper proposes an iterative high-resolution image interpolation algorithm using spatially adaptive constraints and regularization functional. The proposed algorithm adapts adaptive constraints according to the direction of..edges in an image, and can restore high-resolution image by optimizing regularization functional at each iteration, which is suitable for edge directional regularization. The proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional adaptive interpolation methods as well as non-adaptive ones, which not only can restore high frequency components, but also effectively reduce undesirable effects such as noise. Finally, in order to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, various experiments are performed so that the proposed algorithm can provide good results in the sense of subjective and objective views.
Objectives: Shiftwork is known to be one of the common causes of sleep and health problems and finally causes the decreased quality of life. The purpose of this study was to investigate the sleep patterns of shift-working and daytime psychiatric nurses using actigraphy and compare it with subjective assessment for sleep. Methods : Twenty-three shift-working and 25 daytime nurses were enrolled. They rated their sleep quality using Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI) and other self-rating scales were measured for psychosocial aspects. Actigraphy was applied to the subjects for a total of 7 days to measure the sleep parameters. They also wrote sleep diaries during the period of wearing actigraphy. Sleep-related parameters of actigraphy, global score and components of PSQI, and the results of other self-rating scales were compared between shift-working and daytime nurses. Results : Although the global score of PSQI did not show significant difference, the PSQI components showed significant differences between two groups: the shift-working nurses showed lower sleep quality, more sleep disturbance and hypnotic medication use, and worsened daytime dysfunction than daytime nurses. The shift-working nurses showed significantly shorter total time in bed and total sleep time, lower sleep efficiency, and longer average awakening time than those of daytime nurses in actigraphy. Conclusions : The results showed that shift-working nurses experienced more sleep disturbances in both subjective and objective aspects of sleep than daytime nurses. This study also suggests that actigraphy may be useful to measure the objective aspects of sleep that are difficult to assess with subjective questionnaires alone.
The purpose of this study is to define the emotion that expressed in step animation and to quantify the intuitional expression of emotion that related step for using extract, measure, analysis the stimulate element about step. The survey of relation with 27 word of emotional expressions and 36 moving pictures of step sample is used for method of this test. The emotional mental structure is transferred to 2 dimensional planes as applying the results of analysis of integrated data using Quantification Method 3, which the integrated data is composed two axial - confidential axial and stabling axial. Analysis of distribution of 2 dimensional diagram shows that the second of the plane and the third of the plane have much data. However, the first of the plane and the forth of the plane have a little data. Through this kind of analysis of graph, it is difficult to express a different emotion between unstable the timidity mind and stable feel the timidity mind using only step analysis. Six difference types about physical elements affecting to emotion are selected and analyzed such as the paces of step, the rate of step, the movement angle of pelvis, the swing range of arm, angle of backbone and the lean angle of body. The result is that the rate of stop and the lean angle of body are the major element that effects to emotional stimulate of stop. This thesis argues about methods transforming subjective expression to objective and quantitative expression with the state of delicate emotion of character apply to step animation naturally. Those data to apply to multi-contents in future are the main target in this study.

In this paper, the high-band codec for bandwidth scalable wideband speech codec is proposed. The wideband input speech signal is separated into low-band signal and high-band signal, and the low-band signal is encoded by the standard narrow-band speech codec and the high-band signal is encoded by the proposed codec. In the high-band codec. the signal is transformed into frequency domain by MLT on a subframe basis, and MLT coefficients are splitted into magnitude and sign for quantization. The magnitudes of MLT coefficients are arranged into several time-frequency bands and each band is quantized in 2D-DCT domain, where the low-band information is utilized for better performance. The sign of MLT coefficient is quantized based on a priority selection process with the weighting measurement. The objective and subjective performance of wideband speech codec including the proposed high-band codec is measured, and it is confirmed that the proposed codec has better performance than 32kbps G.722.1.
